  1. Alberto’s command is not good enough to pitch in the majors. I can see why they are interested in him, though.
  2. Tommy White looks svelte. Maybe he can play 3b. He isn’t gonna play first for them.
  3. This team is putting up quality at bats. Even Colson’s K was a solid at bat. Could have gone either way.
  4. Hicks looking good. It would be huge if he could pitch leverage.
  5. It is stupid to think the Sox have 13 guys who are better than Baldwin.
  6. Great at bats for Vargas and Colson. Team looks ready.
  7. Bonemer and Mogollon both available to be late subs. Life is good.
  8. This is just a great draft class. Anyone picking in the first 15 should walk away with a stud.
  9. Last night there’s no comparison. TCU is one of the best teams in the country. Rhode Island is a cupcake. Both are no doubt shortstops. LeBron did this last year then was bad in SEC play. I would reserve judgment on him until we see him do it in conference play.
  10. I grew up in St. Joe. Between the gloom and all the snow, 6 months a year were pretty bad. There’s a reason it’s a summer place.
  11. I wouldn’t know. I am currently sound asleep.
  12. Caden Connor and Michael Turner. Connor is 1b/of who had a nice Fall league. Probably an org guy but they like him. Turner was Hagen Smith’s catcher his first year at Arkansas. Lefty bat, not much power, pretty good defensively. Upside is probably lefty back up.
  13. Here’s the depressing truth of how I have wasted my life: I know all of them.
  14. I believe the answer is no. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_first_overall_Major_League_Baseball_draft_picks
  15. His swing looks good in live BP so far. If he can have even a reasonable contact rate, he’s gonna put a hurt on a lot of baseballs.
  16. Sox starter depth makes me suspect Hagen Smith and some other prospects may be headed to AA, where the rotation is also a little crowded. All I care about is Oppor at Birmingham. He already dominated A+, no need to repeat.
  17. No one knows what 2028 budgets will look like after 2027. I don’t believe the owners will get a cap, but something is going to narrow the payroll disparity across the league or there will be no baseball. I suspect Manfred is going to win on packaging all MLB TV and splitting the proceeds evenly. Even without a cap, that would vault mid-market teams like the Sox into the $200 mil range on payroll. At that point, the Sox may have internal options to spend it on, or they could take a big swing.
  18. I never cared for Castellanos as a player. He is legit dangerous on fastballs down in the zone, but there are holes up and he is one of the worst outfielders I have ever seen. Sox do not need a short side platoon DH with character questions on their young team, imho.
  19. I think Houser had an opt out. He wasn’t released, he bet on himself. I would be surprised if multiple teams, including the Sox, didn’t hint to his agent that there would be big league opportunities for him elsewhere. Remember, the Rangers rotation was pretty stacked last year.
  20. I am an eternal optimist in Spring, but every team is going to game plan so Colson doesn’t beat them. A lot will depend on the rest of the Sox lineup. So if Vargas, Mune, Teel, and Baldwin all take a step forward, it would really help. I say 35, but literally anything could happen. Wide variance of outcomes for Colson. Btw, spellcheck keeps trying to change his name to “Colton.” We need to get a Colston Loveland, Colton Dach, Colson Montgomery pic this summer at the Rate.
  21. I think the Sox will employ more than 5 starters by May 1. They have so many multi-inning guys that I can see Venable mixing and matching with guys like Fedde, Newcomb, and Vasil (or Paez if he makes the team) based on opponents and also to give extra rest to Kay (coming back from pitching once a week in Japan) and Shane Smith. So, I am not really that concerned with who the initial 5 are.
  22. Maybe he’s from the Mirror Universe where Acuna switch hits. Can anyone check to find out if he recently shaved off a goatee?
  23. Reporting was when he signed that Sox wanted to lower/eliminate the leg kick and make it more of a toe tap. If you want to hit velocity consistently, getting rid of the leg kick is a great place to start.
  24. That 1990 team is probably my favorite of all time. Even ahead of 1992, 1993, 1994, and 2005. I went to a ton of games because I was under-employed that summer. At one point, the Sox won 18 straight games where I was in attendance. Great memories. Thanks for the reminder.
  25. *spit take*
