Passan: Astros sign Imai
Finally a reason to hate the Astros.

White Sox sign Jarred Kelenic, non-roster invite
Personally, I always enjoyed @Harold's Leg Lift especially on the minors side. He had his takes, but if you respected him, he always respected you. Sorely missed.

Meh. Unlikely to be anything, but gives Fuller the ultimate project. If he fixes Kelenic, he’s The One.

Passan: Astros sign Imai
I think they’re better off from the right side than others do. Taylor had freakishly bad luck. I think he’s a stud. Leasure looked like a leverage arm late last year, especially if that splitter continues to develop. Berroa has a shot. Vasil is more lucky than good, but he has the stones to pitch late. It’s the lefties I don’t like.

Passan: Astros sign Imai
If the Sox sign Imai, they’re basically a .500 team. In that division, that would make you a contender. Let’s get it done!

Passan: Astros sign Imai
Obviously, if they sign Imai, that pushes everyone else down. Suddenly Burke could be leverage. One of the young guys could come up in relief. Adding good players makes everyone you have more useful.

Benintendi destinations?
Antonacci is bigger than Meidroth and has at least avg raw power. Whether he gets to it is another matter entirely. They are shockingly similar. I think there’s room for both in a roster. Maybe neither get 500 PA, though.

Benintendi destinations?
Not sure Meidroth is ahead of Antonacci in the org’s eyes. Will be interesting.
-
Benintendi destinations?
I wouldn’t be surprised if Antonacci/Meidroth got some reps out there too. Everyone in the org mentions Antonacci when talking about the org’s future. Even David Keller. I think they are going to find a space for him.

Benintendi destinations?
If he could play a decent LF, he might have some value. Sadly, he’s their platoon DH

White Sox win draft lottery, will pick #1 in 2026
Yep. Teams wanted him late first/sandwich. He put out a number of around $4 mil. For comparison, Bondmer signed for about $3 mil

Chicago White Sox's Offseason FA Signings Trades Megathread
According to MLB Trade Rumors Sox do have the smallest largest.

That’s the only way I listen to podcasts. Too much dead air otherwise.

Per Passan: White Sox sign Munetaka Murakami 2 years 34M
Actually very close Ohtani had a 74% in zone contact rate compared to 72% for Mune. Ohtani left the league at a younger age, so not an apples to apples comparison.

Pete Fairbanks?
Kinda saw this coming. I think Newcomb was the fallback position.

Robert Thread: Sox talking to Reds, Mets
Kepler was in a platoon last year yet was still unplayable down the stretch for the Phillies. .1 bWAR is pretty rough
-
Robert Thread: Sox talking to Reds, Mets
Kepler posted .1 bWAR last year in over 400 at bats. He would be like signing another Benintendi. It’s not 2018/2019 anymore.

Kepler is toast. Giving him an $8 mil severance package would be a very bad idea. Tauchman is considerably better at this point.

Chicago White Sox's Offseason FA Signings Trades Megathread
I would rather sign Mune, but that said, O’Hearn is gonna help Pittsburgh. With their young pitching, a average offense makes them a playoff threat.

White Sox sign Sean Newcomb 1/4.5M, DFA Ryan Rolison
Hate this move, but influenced by how the Sox bombed him last year. Old guy whose stuff has ticked way down. Might work out, but if it doesn’t, gonna be unwatchable and uncuttable.

Robert Thread: Sox talking to Reds, Mets
I disagree. I think he cares whether he plays in mlb or not, but I’m weird that way.

Robert Thread: Sox talking to Reds, Mets
IDK why the Sox would want even more guys coming back from TJS. Maybe Bannister sees an easy fix for Petty or something. Trading an outfielder when you already have the weakest outfield group in mlb seems insane. Braden Montgomery has to be thrilled, though.

If they trade Robert, who the heck is their entire OF? Suddenly they’re counting on Baldwin to anchor an incredibly poor group. Do you really want to Hill and Pereira every day?

Can the this team be competitive in 2026?
There has been massive turnover in the bullpen. Watching Taylor, Leasure, Vasil, and eventually Berroa won't be as tragic as the group from 2024. The lefthanders are another matter entirely, of course, but I can imagine the Sox having a decent pen in games where they have the lead, and sort of a disaster pen for the blowouts. Not exactly Cleveland or Milwaukee, but not the sole reason for the club losing 100 games either.
