  1. Personally, I have a hard time seeing Meidroth starting every day on a team with Antonacci. on it It might just be my Midwest bias, but I think Antonacci is a cut above Chase in just about everything except D, and his D ain't bad.
  2. I am more bullish than most on the Sox pitching depth. The guys you get off the garbage pile rarely tend to be that good, while good arms from the minors can often help right away -- look at Yeasavage, Schlittler, McLean, the two Boston lefties etc. I believe in H. Smith, McDougal, and Schultz. I think Oppor is gonna come fast. They have a ton of depth arms like Murphy, Schweitzer, and Davitt who may be able to soak up innings. Then, after the break, Mason Adams, Drew Thorpe, Carela, and Ky Bush become options. I think they'll be able to patch something together. If they score runs like they did in the second half, I'm beginning to see a .500 team developing. In this division, a .500 team can compete.
  3. Or on a more optimistic note: Add some guys that may be worth keeping in July?
  4. Presser has me fired up. Mune ends it by saying "let's get to work." Guys who have accomplished what he has want to be good. I believe he'll work hard to make adjustments to eventually be good. It may be like Ohtani where it takes a little time and the Sox may not get his absolute peak, but I love the storyline. Much better than hoping O'Hearn's fade will be gradual, as far as entertainment value.
  5. Draft eligible sophomores can do it, but most Freshman and Sophomores are not draft eligible. Juniors that don't sign destroy all leverage, so most take any reasonable offer.
  6. They now have Beni, Murakami, and Robert coming off the books after 2027. The risk here is virtually nothing. At the very least, the Sox will have some Boom in the middle of their line up.
  7. 1. Meidroth, 2b 2. Teel, c 3. Vargas, 3b 4. C. Montgomery 5. Robert, cf 6. Murakami, 1b 7. Benintendi, DH/lf 8. Baldwin, lf/rf 9. Pereira, rf/lf or Quero, DH Or you could go Colson, Robert, Murakami 3,4,5 but I would wait to see how those guys do.
  8. Now hold on to Robert. Sticking him between Colson and Murakami gonna make him dangerous.
  9. Or short side of a platoon. He kilt lefties last year.
  10. I wonder in what time zone this negotiations are really taking place. They have until 7 am Tuesday in Japan, which is 4pm Monday in Chicago. 1 pm Sunday in Japan right now on Sunday. I imagine they have to be getting close to “put your final offers in now” so Murakami has a chance to weigh them. Or do we think this is all being done by US based agents in a U.S. time zone?
  11. Bears have had the ball twice in the entire half. Defense has crapped the bed but it’s only 6-0. Dan Marino used to say that every field goal is one step closer to losing.
  12. JMU and Tulane in this tournament is a disgrace. Oregon having a Spring game before they play someone real next week.
  13. Another huge issue with that rebuild is too many slow righty hitters in an era where suddenly every righthander seems to have at least a 50 slider. Having lefties in this environment is more important than ever.
  14. Depending on how 1-1 goes can’t they try to push preps down to 2-2 and 3-2? I could imagine Thome as an overslot 3rd rounder if he doesn’t blow up this spring. Good bat, but limited athleticism and uncertain future position does not scream rocketing up draft boards.
  15. Okamoto hits righty. Looking at their roster, they already have at least 3 R/R 1b/3b. Murakami fits what they said they were looking for much better.
  16. He just feels like a guy the Angels are going to sign, but I would like the Sox to do anything to add significant talent. His K rate, in zone miss, etc aren’t pretty but the power is stoopid, so… might be fun.
  17. Silver Lake is also very close to the Ellisons. Essentially, Skydance/Paramount is going to control TikTok.
  18. Along with Ben Cowles, Derek Hill, and Everson Pereira. Sox are where DFAs go to languish. Roster is at 39 now, so it does not appear they are on the cusp of a FA frenzy. Although I'm pretty sure some of those guys could make it through waivers.
  19. My thing is I don’t want to watch them go 5-21 again next April. What I really want is for them to sign one more mlb outfielder.
  20. I am just saying, he’ll outplay these guys in the Spring. Cuz they bad.
  21. If this is as good as they can do, Braden Montgomery will be the Opening Day starter.
  22. This is a young staff, but the youngest in the league is going to Washington. I think everyone is under 40. Pretty insane.
  23. Great hire. I wondered where he was going to land. Never dreamed it would be with the Sox. Getz has a near-magical ability to get people to buy into his vision. Let’s hope they’re right.
  24. Have you seen him play? Lotta warts in Zavala’s game. Defense in center ain’t one of them.
  25. Seems like the Twins are trying to compete, which is more than you can say for the Sox. I'm not even an advocate of them doing much, but how little they're doing to bolster the 2026 team is shocking even to me. Don't care about Josh Bell specifically, but when you can't spend $6 mil on a lefty bat, it's just sad.
