9/7/2025 - Sox @ Tigers - 12:40 - Martin v. Morton
Timmy U replied to WestEddy's topic in 2025 Season in Review
Clutch from Beni. Glad they didn’t let Morton off the hook. 33 pitches through one. A couple more decent innings and they will get him out early. -
They also get a lot more draft picks than the Sox thanks to those stupid competitive balance picks that help out small markets like Detroit and the St. Louis Cardinals. Also, both Cleveland and Minnesota have had insane luck in the stupid draft lottery when they haven’t been tanking. Cleveland has had one moderately down year in the last 5 and they got the first overall pick. Thankfully, it looks like they got a good player not a great player, but still…

Braden was position player of the month for August. He has been down this week though. Quite a few strikeouts.

Tigers have gotten a lot of breaks in this game. Only thing keeping it close. -

Meadows is Babe Ruth against us. Naturally Sox are the first team he plays against. -

Bench is Sosa, Baldwin, Lee, Taylor, possibly Tauchman. Smart of Venable to give those guys some rest in the middle of 17 straight, but may be a low scoring game tonight. -
I imagine they will come in at 38 or 39. My list has 8 questionable players identified. I’m sure other posters might suggest 3 or 4 other names. I don’t think they are going to be too squeezed.

This is my first pass at an offseason 40 man. Question marks are guys that are on the bubble/cuttable as they add free agents or prepare for the Rule 5 draft. Taylor has to have the worst batted ball luck in Sox history.
-
So, 10. Rockies 11. Nationals 12. Angels 13. Cardinals?
-
Woo! Twins suck worse than us!
-
In retrospect, Venable should have done what I assumed he was going to do and that's leave Taylor in after throwing 12 pitches.
-
Well, this has not started well. Gonna need some good fortune to get out of this one.
-
Wow. Proves what I know. Go Sox!
-
This is mystifying. He's literally the worst hitter on the team and he has been ice cold lately.

Button not going anywhere. He has a full no trade and stated repeatedly he won’t waive it. -
Good comeback win. Alexander zooms to 5-13.
-
I missed that Taylor was in for Mead. Oops.
-
Hmm, why would Elko run for Tauchman? Why not Michael A. Taylor? Is Ramos gonna play RF?
-
Tauchman follows it up. Suddenly 3-11 w/RISP
-
Ther you go, Brooks!
-
Alexander entering a game is a signal that Venable is giving up and preserving arms for tomorrow. He manages like every contest is game 7 of… Spring Training. He is not trying hard to win.
-
Alexander getting ready for loss number 14, which is really impressive considering how many innings he’s pitched.
-
Another recipe for losing baseball: 1-8 w/RISP, 2 errors, 5 bb. No wonder they’re gonna drop an amazing 230 games in a two year span.
-
Booser is gonna have a hard time surviving at 93-94. Wasn’t he at 97-98 earlier this year?
