  1. If so, the player to be named better be Roman Anthony. Good lord he's been bad.
  2. Gabe Davis, last year’s 5th round pitcher from OK St. who is off to a promising start while facing — say it with me — limited pitch counts.
  3. I hope to God they plan on starting Sandlin. He is the only guy left standing from their starter depth in AAA. He threw 71 pitches his last time out. I could see him throwing 85 to 90 his next time out. That may be 5 innings. That’s better than a lot of their starters lately. Fun fact: He works out in the offseason in the same place as Davis Martin and Gabe Davis, which is owned by former Sox reliever Lane Ramsey. As far as who’s going down? I dunno.
  4. I don't know why anyone cares how catchers age. The Sox are unlikely to be the team that gives whoever they draft their second contract. Sox are drafting for the first 6 years. I'm a Roch man myself. I don't trust guys who pop up with a previously uncharacteristic offensive performance during their draft year. Lackey was a glove-first guy coming into this year, while Roch has a track record of performance. But I think a catcher, especially one who can play other positions, isn't a bad bet in and of itself.
  5. So far Schultz does not have a swing and miss pitch today. Add the number of non-competitive balls, they’ll be lucky to get 4IP out of him
  6. Damn I hate watching Acuna play baseball.

He is in there now. Appears to be splitting with Hays for some reason.
  8. Pallette does not throw enough strikes. That has been his problem for a while. Once mlb hitters figured that out, he was toast. I hope he figures it out, but he nibbles with breaking stuff rather than attacking the zone early and then using spin to finish guys off. 16 bb in 20 IP just not gonna cut it.
  9. I think Grifol was destined to coach college. Too rigid for pro ball players.
  10. .721 for an elite defender at shortstop would be a pretty valuable player in the mlb. That said, Carlson is a 19 year old who needed significant swing changes. Very hard to say what he’s gonna be. I certainly wouldn’t be avoiding Rich cuz I am afraid of blocking Carlson. He’s a true wait and see prospect.
  11. Robin Ventura who can play above average shortstop would be a pretty darn good outcome.
  12. Why not Acuna at 2b? He’s pretty brutal in cf.
  13. This news absolutely blows. He’s gonna end up missing the entire first half once he’s healthy and has to get a couple weeks to get back up to speed.
  14. That is a lot of batted ball luck for the Cubs. Kinda reminds me of Friday night when everything they hit found grass.
  15. I don’t think that’s true. He’s hit a few absolute bombs onto Mint street. I wouldn’t be shocked if 4 or 5 were Truist field cheapies, but nowhere near half.

Fuller was talking Jacob Gonzalez up in the Spring as a guy who had really embraced their program. The bat speed has obviously improved (it had to). The question is: where do you play him? Sox three best players play ss, 1b, 3b. Those are all positions he has played. I think if he were fast enough to play of, he would already be getting reps there. He can play 2b, but Meidroth is a better defender and has been coming on with the bat. It’s a good problem to have.
  17. I was really wrong on Vargas. I saw him as an underpowered dh. His glove has been average and now he has above average power. 1.8 fWAR already which is 15th in the league. Heckuva player to get for Fedde. My bad.
  18. Also, Shelton and Bonemer.
  19. Man, this is not your 2024/2025 White Sox.
  20. Yeah, last night Ian Eskridge hinted that he had heard Adams may have added velocity recovering from TJS.
  21. Antonacci has actually been pretty good as a non-traditional LF. Helps out at the top of the order. If Pereira could stay on the field, we’d get a better read on him. Braden will be up in a month or so to add yet another guy with a decent eye and power but a lot of in zone swing and miss to this team. The fact that they are scoring decently with 4.5 average to above average hitters is a good sign. Get Teel back and get a little more production from of/DH and this team could take off.
