Good game so far for Hagen Smith: 5IP 2H 0R 1BB 8K

Ramos was hurt in Spring. His second half has been much better. My issue with Elko is that he has massive holes in his swing that mlb pitchers will exploit. Ramos has a much sounder swing and is more versatile defensively.
-
I am not convinced from what I have seen in mlb that Elko is more deserving than Ramos. Maybe Ramos is a Sept 1 call up and they both get some run.
-
No surprise there. Only other possible option was Ramos. I still suspect Ramos > Mead, but we’ll have to see. I have very little belief that Elko can hit mlb pitching, but he seems like a good guy, so I will be rooting for him

5 more scroreless for Shane Murphy. His ERA is down below 1.40. I believe he is Rule 5 eligible. I’d protect him even though he does not throw hard.

Hope Vargas is okay. If there’s any soreness, with Montgomery already out, they should put him on the IL and bring up Elko, I guess? -

2026 MLB Draft Thread...Sox likely a Top 3 pick here
Timmy U replied to caulfield12's topic in FutureSox Board
This is going to be a great draft at the top, especially the first three picks. I would be thrilled with Lombard, Emerson, or Cholowsky. Not interested in another pitcher with a top 5 pick. McDougal and Oppor were both taken in the 5th round. Arms are available later. Premium position players, not so much. -

Trading actual prospects for Gilbert and Booser was moronic in retrospect. -
Not ideal seeing Fajardo listed as Boston’s hottest pitching prospect. At the time that trade was a head scratcher. It has not aged well. For the Sox, Pipeline listed Oppor, no wait, McDougal, no, Peyton Pallette. A reliever. Don’t know what to make of that. I don’t think they’re paying much attention to the Sox system.

The BABIP on Taylor is insane. 5 batters faced, 2K, 3 singles. 1.000 on balls in play. -

3 singles in the inning. None of them broke 80 mph. Sometimes it’s better to be lucky than good. -

The two singles were both barely hit at all, but once he got into trouble, you could see Leasure tighten up. -
They play other teams like the Dodgers and Padres who play in comp, exes close to where the Sox play.

Braden Montgomery was also in that draft class. No one could buy him out of the Stanford commit. 1-1 with another double so far tonight. -
Bonemer with a lead off triple.
-
That bridge league team has a lot of exciting guys to follow. Gonna be interesting to see who makes it to Kanny next year.
-
Good memories. I was at that game with a mixed group of Sox and Brewers.
-
Good for Bonemer. I have him as the best position player prospect in the system. Probably not the consensus.

Lodise has been fascinating. Started ice cold. Was featured as one of the high-round disappointments in a BA podcast and this week has been on fire. Righty swinging undersized guy who has no track record hitting with wood and who probably profiles at 2b, so not my kind of profile. Still, nice to see him hitting.
