  1. Game over. Barons win 7-3. Bullpen struggled after McDougal, but held on.
  2. Smith is pitching in the AFL so clearly the Sox think he needs the innings. I wonder if they let McDougal go a little longer given it is his last appearance of the year.
  3. 7 straight appearances with runs for Alexander. Release him, for the love of all that is holy.
  4. I do not enjoy watching Tyler Alexander play baseball.
  5. Montgomery still has a lot of holes and is real streaky with the K's. I have no idea if he'll be up early next year. I think there's one scenario in which he closes a few holes and rockets into right field. There's another another where the further he goes up, the more the holes get exploited. That may delay things. He's a good enough defender that .240 with decent power is a major leaguer, though. OTOH, I think Bonemer is going to move incredibly fast. Scouts don't like how little movement there is in his swing, but it works and there are very few moving parts. He could be up by May 2027. And I would not be surprised if they stuck him in the outfield if there's still the huge glut of infielders. Guy's a good athlete.
  6. Do we need to move this to the 2020 International signings thread?
  7. 3 innings. 6bb 6K. Pretty insane. I was hoping for a left-handed Paul Skenes. So far, its more left-handed Sean Burke. I now have Oppor ahead of him, but there's still time for development.
  8. Why is Tyler Alexander in any game ever?
  9. Understand the move. Wouldn’t do it myself.
  10. To be fair, Alexander has a 4.19 ERA with the Sox. But also, he’s 2-9.
  11. Venable has let him lose a ton of games for the Sox this year. Really bad coming off an off day. But the lefties are all interchangeably bad down there.
  12. I'll be surprised if they do. If they pick up Robert's option, I don't think there will be a lot of money to spend. Also, Williams? That's pretty risky. I also believe they will not sign anyone with a QO attached. They can't afford to surrender the draft capital. But they have surprised me before.
  13. I mean, Wikelman looked awesome yesterday and if Berroa comes back strong, you're looking at a pretty good 'pen. Would be nice to not spend spring training watching everyone else's castoffs like Penn Murfee try to make the team.
  14. Sox 7 LOB. Tigers 1. Helps when you don’t throw the ball in the dugout.
  15. Clutch from Beni. Glad they didn’t let Morton off the hook. 33 pitches through one. A couple more decent innings and they will get him out early.
  16. They also get a lot more draft picks than the Sox thanks to those stupid competitive balance picks that help out small markets like Detroit and the St. Louis Cardinals. Also, both Cleveland and Minnesota have had insane luck in the stupid draft lottery when they haven’t been tanking. Cleveland has had one moderately down year in the last 5 and they got the first overall pick. Thankfully, it looks like they got a good player not a great player, but still…
  17. Braden was position player of the month for August. He has been down this week though. Quite a few strikeouts.
  18. Tigers have gotten a lot of breaks in this game. Only thing keeping it close.
  19. Meadows is Babe Ruth against us. Naturally Sox are the first team he plays against.
  20. Bench is Sosa, Baldwin, Lee, Taylor, possibly Tauchman. Smart of Venable to give those guys some rest in the middle of 17 straight, but may be a low scoring game tonight.
  21. I imagine they will come in at 38 or 39. My list has 8 questionable players identified. I’m sure other posters might suggest 3 or 4 other names. I don’t think they are going to be too squeezed.
