  1. Where would Mena rank among Sox pitching prospects? 10th? He certainly isn’t top 5. Moving him was the right call. Choosing Fletcher as the return was where they shanked it. They should trade pitching this offseason, but they need to get actual hitting back.
  2. Hopefully Getz learned from Vargas fiasco -- Do not package your mlb assets.
  3. I can't do another offseason of arguing about whether the O's will trade anything of value. They won't. If I'm gonna fantasize, I'd rather fantasize about Crochet going to Boston for Roman Anthony.
  4. Me too even though I watched him suck in AAA too. Spaced on Duke Ellis too. Only position player I missed.
  5. There is a ton of garbage on the Sox 40 man, as befits a 121 loss team. Assuming the Sox for sure non-tender Lopez, and don't pick up Moncada option, here's how I see their 40 man moving forward into the offseason: Locks: Prelander Berroa, rhp *Ky Bush, lhp Sean Burke, rhp Jonathan Cannon, rhp *Garrett Crochet, lhp *Jake Eder, lhp *Fraser Ellard, lhp Jairo Iriarte, rhp Jordan Leasure, rhp Davis Martin, rhp Nick Nastrini, rhp *Jared Shuster, lhp Drew Thorpe, rhp Korey Lee, c #Brooks Baldwin,ss/2b/3b/0f *Colson Montgomery, ss Bryan Ramos, 3b Lenyn Sosa, 2b/3b Miguel Vargas, 3b/dh *Andrew Benintendi, of *Dominic Fletcher, of Luis Robert, of Likely On it: *Oscar Colas, of *Zach DeLoach, of Ron Marinaccio, rhp Justin Anderson, rhp Steven Wilson, rhp Who knows? Engyel De Los Santos, rhp *Sammy Peralta, lhp Gus Varland, rhp Jacob Amaya, ss Corey Julks, of *Gavin Sheets,1b-dh Andrew Vaughn, 1b I think cut: Jimmy Lambert, rhp Jesse Scholtens, rhp (returning from 60 day IL) Chuckie Robinson, c Braden Shewmake, ss Matt Foster, rhp (would require an injury settlement) Unlikely, but have to be added to protect from Rule 5: Wilfred Veras, of DJ Gladney, of Jared Kelley, rhp *Gil Luna, lhp Andrew Dalquist, rhp Anthony Hoopii-Tuionetoa, rhp I have seen a couple of places that Eric Adler and Tim Elko have to be added. That is NOT true. Both were drafted in 2022. They are not eligible until next offseason.
  6. The Zach Remillard Era has ended. According to MLB Trade Rumors, he has chosen Free Agency. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2024/10/nine-players-elect-free-agency.html I figured this could be a catch-all for the billion minor roster moves the Sox are going to make as they rearrange the deck chairs to achieve mediocrity.
  7. Meh. Dunning would be what for the Sox? Competition for Davis Martin in the middle of a rotation that's gonna lose 100 games? In the grander scheme of things, he's just a guy. I wish him well, but it's not Fernando Tatis Jr.
  8. I gotta say, 5 years is an eternity in sports. Walker Jenkins is a potential stud, but the Sox could have the #1 pick in 2026. Guys who are really significant prospects will be nobodies and marginal players will be stars. I'm willing to say the Sox are for sure losing a 100+ games next year. After that? Who knows?
  9. Good for him. I hope he's fully healthy. Helluva manager. Probably a HoF baseball person.
  10. You don’t really go in for comedic hyperbole, do you?
  11. One rumor out there is the Phillies want Crochet. Sox seem to like Andrew Painter as the lead guy. Would this board go crazy if the Sox trade Crochet and not get back a big bat? I'd be mad, but better a really good pitcher than another Vargas.
  12. If he hits .150 and is out of options, he will get DFA after 3 months. If he can hit .220, maybe they stick with him a few years. Such an unbelievably bad trade. Jeral Perez better be a 7-time all star.
  13. Congrats to all on making it through the worst season ever until next year.
  14. Amaya not gonna stay on the 40 all off season, right? He is not anywhere close to an mlb player.
  15. Gus Varland looks like a potential DFA this winter. I mean, half their bullpen looks like that. I wonder who they keep.
  16. Soroka has been a different guy out of the pen. I would not be opposed to bringing him back. I wonder what the price is gonna be and if he's gonna try for one more shot as a starter.
  17. That's a 30 game improvement. If Steve Cohen cloned himself and the clone bought the Sox, you couldn't spend enough to win 72 games. The Sox have 0 decent position players. It is gonna be a long slow climb to mediocrity.
  18. In AAA, I liked DeLoach more than Fletcher. I'm starting to feel that way in mlb. Fletcher is a very good defensive RF. Not sure that matters. DeLoach has a shot at being an average big leaguer. Neither are Jake McCarthy, but maybe DeLoach can be something?
  19. Any chance they non-tender Vaughn and try Vargas at first? Admittedly he doesn’t hit enough to play 1b, but on the bright side, he doesn’t hit enough to play anywhere else either.
  20. Chuck said Ozzie would be there. No idea whether Hurt will be coming with. Pre and Post so much better than the actual games, the question is really should they bring the team with them.

My Dad didn't take me to my first DeWalt drill. End of story.
  22. If you simulated a 162 game season of just the Sox vs. the Angels, would baseball as we know it simply cease to exist. One of these two is the worst team I have every seen and it is both of them.
  23. I look forward to Fletcher’s future career as a defensive replacement.

Please. They are present utility players. No projection necessary.
