  1. Really? He cannot throw strikes in AAA. Why in God’s name would you put him on the 40 man? I hate these people.
  2. Maybe Vargas can teach Robert how to hit and Robert can teach Vargas how to work out?
  3. I’m going tonight because I am in town and I love my brother. Might also see the Sox break a record.
  4. Sure. You can announce Vargas as an infielder. I’ll say something positive now. Vargas reminds me a little of Edgar Martinez before the power kicked in. Hey, maybe he’ll get stronger and become a real good DH.
  5. I apologize for every unkind word I ever said about Rick Hahn.
  6. Gonna be interesting how Perez and Albertus are viewed vs. the rest of the Sox system. I’d slot them in around 15-16, ahead of Mogollon for now. Mogollon’s batted ball data hints at way more impact, tho. They are solid prospects but not system changing. Sox gotta count on Wolkow and Bonemer being dudes.
  7. He’s a dh. Maybe try hiding him at first when they non-tender Vaughn? This is a catastrophe.
  8. Serious question: is Vargas actually any better than Sosa and Colas? Sosa certainly has had a lot of non-PCL AAA success and at least Colad hits the ball hard. Plus, Vargas is the worse defender of the 3. For those down on Sosa’s D, just wait.
  9. Bears could give him a look at Nickel too. Would be just as effective.
  10. I hate everything, but even in my wildest dreams it never occurred to me that they would ship out 3 guys, including a 2/3 starter with control, for this pile of garbage. There is not an mlb regular in our side of the deal at all. This is messed up.
  11. Albertus probably the best guy in this deal. I fail to see how this is worth 3 guys.
  12. Vargas ain’t a 2b. What a garbage acquisition.
  13. That is its own kind of depressing. A year after taking a ss at 1-15, you’re trading for a 3rd rounder in the same draft? Fail.
  14. Also, some pitchers like regular work. Not everyone is cut out for the 5 day schedule.
  15. Pages is not good. Can’t play cf, swings at everything.
  16. Taylor has a lat strain. That can happen to anyone. Pallette always had significant reliever risk, even if he wasn’t hurt, but I will defend that Taylor pick to my dying breath. I think he’s the 4th or 5th best guy in the system. Nasty stuff and an idea of how to pitch.
  17. Tampa may have been freeing up places for prospects. Caminero and Mead are both ready and both play 3b. I suppose Mead is serviceable at 2b. Move Morel to lf to replace Arozarena, Bob’s your uncle.
  18. The Sox need to start doing a better job scouting/developing hitters. Their recent 1st round bats are: Brian Anderson, Josh Fields, Gordon Beckham, Jared Mitchell, Josh Phegley, Keenyn Walker, Courtney Hawkins, Keon Barnum, Tim Anderson, Zack Collins, Jake Burger, Nick Madrigal, Andrew Vaughn, Colson Montgomery, and Jacob Gonzalez. Other than Anderson, the non-prospects are all busts. There’s hope for Colson, but that is not trending well. Gonzalez is not looking good at all 1 year into his career. They have fared somewhat better with pitchers. Sale, Crochet, Rodon, and Schultz are all good. Hopefully Smith makes it 5.
  19. I am not criticizing the Sox, I am saying the Dodgers are good at scouting and self-scouting. They do not lose a lot of trades. Notice how they are not the ones giving up Trea Turner, or CJ Abrams, or James Wood. They give up Keibert Ruiz and Verdugo.
  20. Don’t know if that’s a good thing. MLB pipeline just went through who the Dodgers gave up in deadline deals. Scrubs and second division regulars mostly. Look at the deals last year: Nastrini and Leasure are not trending well. People say “Don’t trade with the Rays.” The Dodgers are the Original Rays.
  21. Walker has a huge groundball rate. Spray chart indicates a lot of hard grounders right at 3b. Sox are not the team to fix him. That said, there's no one else from the Cards I really want. Trade him to the Mets for Ryan Clifford.
  22. They're in the 110% bracket. $50 mil is $105 mil to them. That's a lot of deferrals. (Also, to make it work, they'd have to add years to the contract. Would be beyond tricky.)
  23. I don't believe the Dodgers are in any position to add $50 mil to their luxury tax obligations. I can imagine JR doing something like this, but I'm no gonna waste time and mental energy on something that I believe is impossible. If that changes, I'll work out my feelings then.
