  1. Rodon's doing a nice job of pitching over some heinous defense.
  2. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 25, 2015 -> 01:18 PM) More stellar defense. Hahn needs to add RF to the shopping list now. Cespedes, Heyward, Alex Gordon...hopefully not aging Ben Zobrist. Only one of those guys plays right field and it's the most expensive one.
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 25, 2015 -> 12:43 PM) I looked, but couldn't find stats for the typical NL pitcher that hits. Any idea how Sanchez compares? NL Pitchers: .128/.153/.158 Sanchez: .159/.207/.204 Fun fact - AL pitchers are actually hitting better than NL pitchers this season.
  4. QUOTE (Condor13 @ Jun 25, 2015 -> 12:30 PM) Easy double play. Sanchez has to go already Sox challenging apparently? Either way, nice inning. Simon forgot to carb load this morning.
  5. Position player OPS is .723 in MLB this year. Sox pitchers OPS allowed by inning: 1 .938 2 .547 3 .782 4 .798 5 .747 6 .715 7 .693 8 .789 9 .686 E .641 TOTAL .749
  6. Can't a lot of Semien's progress just be chalked up to a young guy getting better with reps? I don't think you need him as an example of "the Sox can't develop such and such," there are plenty of better ones.
  7. RODON SHOULD BE IN THE MINORS HE SUCKS
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 25, 2015 -> 11:40 AM) I was wondering the same thing. Something else in Detroit today? The stray dogs have organized a marathon.
  9. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jun 25, 2015 -> 11:46 AM) There are 13 position players on the roster. 11 of them shouldn't be playing, but you can only have four of them not playing at any given time. Haha this is true, but Eaton should be especially not playing.
  10. QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 25, 2015 -> 09:32 AM) No Alexei today https://twitter.com/whitesox/status/614074508492718080 Eaton shouldn't be playing.
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 25, 2015 -> 09:10 AM) I could ban you Just let that happen when it happens, don't accelerate it on my behalf.
  12. I'm not even sure how it's possible for Hanley to be putting up the defensive numbers he is in Fenway's left field. Stay far away. They're both poison and I wouldn't trade Danks for them.
  13. QUOTE (oneofthemikes @ Jun 25, 2015 -> 09:02 AM) I don't think that a complete teardown is the answer. I think that the more pressing issue is getting a coaching and development staff that will actually coach and develop players. If you look around this team (with the exception of a couple of guys), there is a lot of talent in place. Guys that have either had a good deal of success at the major league level (Samardzija, Melky, Alexei) or have had a great deal of success in the minors (Eaton, Avi). This team came out of spring training looking like they hadn't worked on anything at all and things haven't gotten any better. Maybe its just me, but I think that rather than trading away the whole team and starting over, they should keep a lot of the players that are on the roster and spend the offseason getting rid of KW and replacing Robin, Steverson, Vince Coleman, and Buddy Bell. Just one man's opinion. I agree that a new coaching staff is in order; not that they deserve all the blame but the team's attitude is clearly not right and changes are required. I'm also not sure what Buddy Bell has ever done to keep his job. The primary reasons that we're worse than we thought have been the premature deaths of Eaton, Cabrera, and Ramirez. Everyone else has either largely done what they're supposed to, or it isn't that surprising that they're worse (Avisail). Eaton has been slowly climbing out of the hole he dug, but he's also the biggest heinie bird, and if we don't find a staff who can keep him on track, he might keep flying in circles until he disappears up his own rear end forever.
  14. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jun 25, 2015 -> 08:59 AM) You could just not open it? That would require me having discipline.
  15. QUOTE (Vance Law @ Jun 24, 2015 -> 08:36 PM) The Cabrera signing is the closest thing to longish term commitment (at only 3 years) to a player who's subpar defensively. And he's not that bad. And he can move to DH after a couple years if he's still here. I would throw in Avi too. They haven't committed to him contractually, but they have committed with playing time, and as bad as he is, I have to think his deficiencies were evident when they traded for him.
  16. Hey, just curious, this is totally not related to anything in particular, but is there any way to block a thread from your view?
  17. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Jun 24, 2015 -> 09:40 PM) He's still a B to me, but the lack of power over the last 600 AB's is incredibly concerning. I'd move him in a second. "Lack" and "incredibly concerning" are overstatements. .201 ISO over the last calendar year (636 PA's) is 24th of 130 qualifiers. Not elite, but the overall offensive package has been.
  18. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jun 24, 2015 -> 02:52 PM) Haha! Check out Sale's reaction to the question about the team's offense.... He was asked the exact same thing after his last start and he called it a stupid question. It's basically the reporter openly trolling him.
  19. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jun 24, 2015 -> 02:25 PM) Was he effective? Pitch count isn't the only reason to pull a pitcher. I agree, but he cruised through the sixth.
  20. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Jun 24, 2015 -> 02:18 PM) He's averaging like 110 a start. So what. That's what aces do.
  21. Guys, it's 113 pitches. He's a grown-ass man. Relax.
  22. QUOTE (CanOfCorn @ Jun 24, 2015 -> 11:38 AM) Let's get: 1) a win 2) a major league record QUOTE (shysocks @ Jun 24, 2015 -> 11:53 AM) Which would you all take if we could only have one? HEY WHAT ABOUT NEITHER
  23. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 24, 2015 -> 01:51 PM) So Cameron uses an example he now admits the Dodgers would never do as a reason the White Sox need to trade this guy, and then has the nerve to tell another guy "that's why organizations aren't run by fans." Last I checked, he isn't making baseball decisions for anyone either. Yeah he's pretty much an unabashed a-hole.
