  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 8, 2012 -> 06:10 PM) Dunn with the invisible bat going. He's so bad right now, and it's very disappointing that Ventura seems to be stubborn about moving him in the order. That's a nice way of putting it haha
  2. This is laughable. Guthrie 0-9 hasn't won since May 31st. That's about to change young man! has he ever thrown a CG? Might as well get that accomplished tonight as well...
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 8, 2012 -> 05:42 PM) Ugh, wake up offense! Sox been struggling of late against a few of the worst starters in the AL. Has Hawk brought out "Tip your Cap" yet?
  4. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Aug 8, 2012 -> 04:54 PM) Come on over You can watch on DirecTV If I step foot outside I will melt.
  5. Uh oh mlb.tv not working for the 7:05 EST games... get your s*** together I want to stress out while watching the Sox dammit!
  6. QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Aug 8, 2012 -> 01:57 PM) I'm pretty damn sure that Ventura, Coop and KW knows more about baseball than 99.99% of the people on this site.. I just don't get all the damn b****ing and moaning that goes on day by day. The Sox were picked by many experts to finished close to last place but RV has this team in 1st place on Aug 8th and yet most people on this site act like the Sox are a terrible team. My whining comes mostly from the fact that this team has been in first place for 70+ days, and if they miss the postseason it will crush me (and I'm sure other people on the site) It will hurt 10000 x more than if they had just lost 95 like they were being predicted as losing. I would prefer losing 95 to missing the post season by 1-2 games It's tight right now and every single game matters, so we as message board fans who obviously know better get a little chappy when s*** like this happens. I hope these days off reinvigorate the team and they run all the way to October, but in the meantime every game is gonna be looked at under the worlds largest internet microscope.
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 8, 2012 -> 01:36 PM) There is no way that most of these guys will survive playing the next 53 games in a row, especially the older guys. Rest them when it's opportune yes. Today is NOT that time. They just lost to the Royals again, Detroit is right on their asses, you have a chance to take a series from a team you struggle with with a day off on Thursday. Now if PK is hurt it's fine. But Rios is the team MVP, without him they might not have enough to win...
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 8, 2012 -> 01:29 PM) It better not be a situation where he's just giving Konerko and Rios a day off just to rest them. Unless they're hurt, you can f***ing rest in November. It's August and you're only up 1/2 game. They need to have the full team out there...
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 8, 2012 -> 11:16 AM) Except he just said the opposite. He figured it would take him a season and a half to get things figured out. "feel comfortable in their managerial & coaching shoes..." doesn't sound like "contending for division title" to me. I took that as feeling comfortable with coaching a baseball team with no prior experience. You can feel comfortable doing that while losing A LOT.
  10. It would take this team completely flopping -- like suddenly 4 or 5 games out -- before a change is made and by that time it would more than likely be too late. This lineup as constructed (for the most part) has been in first place for 70+ days, in a traditional baseball kinda way it makes sense to stick with what has been working, superstition etc. But if you got balls, you change it so your best players are making the lineup better and you push towards the playoffs like that. Time will tell what kind of manager Robin is.
  11. Publicly KW will say Robin was the right man for this team to contend. Privately I don't think he thought this team had a chance of being good this year and wanted Robin to grow with the team for a few years...
  12. I don't think Robin's gonna change the lineup. He's too scared since they've been playing well and even after the Tigers swept he didn't change and the team bounced back.
  13. Well.. my excitement for today's game has dropped. Rey Olmedo should NEVER start a game EVER for a team in contention.
  14. I would s*** my pants with glee if they could somehow go 6-1 in the final 7 against Detroit. Hell 5-2 would be fine too..
  15. Jake needs to pitch angry. Sox rocked Chen recently. Tank is licking his lips to get at that Chen "fastball". Keep it going!
  16. Also, the Sox need to have at least one or two sweeps in there to have a good chance. Lots of chances too with Minny, Seattle, KC and Cleveland...
  17. I'm sure the answer is "Yes, it's designed that way" but I swear every season the Sox have always had these 4-game series' with the AL East way more than with any other division. And it seems like they ONLY play 4 games series' with Blue Jays and Orioles. Never 3 gamers.
  18. Oakland's gotta fall off soon right? They have amazing pitching, but THE WORST OFFENSE in the AL. Maybe the Sox will have to send them on their way this weekend...
  19. Paulie with his first clutch hit in forever! (Side note, does it seem like he's holding his hands lower? Wrist still bugging him) Anyways, Sale's velo way back up. Great to see. Oh... and f*** THE TIGERS. Wasted a Verlander start and didn't gain anything in the standings. "NO GROUND FOR YOU!!"
  20. Paulie: WAKE UP! Gonna need you down the stretch so figure it out.
  21. I'm calling a JorDanks bomb tonight for his brother.
  22. Wow. Lorenzo Cain is hitting third for KC..... Who?
  23. If Sale's Fastball is popping 94-95 I'll feel real good about today. If its 90-92, watch out.
