  1. Great play by Gordon! Can't wait for him to pop out weakly in his first AB!
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 20, 2012 -> 12:37 PM) Player A .234 Ave, 11HR, 48 RBI, .670 OPS -0.3 WAR Player B .223 Ave, 11HR, 42 RBI, .624 OPS -0.6 WAR Anyone ready to call Eric Hosmer a bust? Player B also has 787 more AB's and is 3 years older. So yeah, Gordon is a big time bust. Hosmer? Not yet...
  3. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 20, 2012 -> 12:29 PM) So, while we have Gordon under control for 3 years, we should just dump him instead of seeing if he can fix his issues in the minors? The guy is the best fielding 2B in the league. If they can send him down to the minors, fix his problems, then he hits .270 with his defense, we'd all love him. That's not out of the realm of possibility. I'm sorry but it is. It's been three years and he's shown zero signs of breaking out of this funk. It's mental and the only thing that's gonna change him is a new team. I firmly believe that. I also don't think demoting him to utility player will do much for that fragile psyche of his. At least not in Chicago....
  4. Kenny's biggest off-season priority should be upgrading at second. This will be Gordon's final year on the South Side. He's proven mentally incapable of hitting the ball consistently. New Coach, New Hitting coach (who's done wonders with other players mind you) and the same results. He needs a fresh start somewhere else. Like the NL.
  5. Anyone else feel like 100% more confident in the Sox ability to beat the Yankees than the Royals right now?
  6. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 19, 2012 -> 02:42 PM) Swept by the f***ing Royals. Ozzie or no, this team sure loves to collapse in the end of the season. Hey you know me, I'm all for negative thoughts, but the team is still in first (mostly cause Detroit sucks too) so they havent collapsed.... yet. It's 50/50 right now and this next week will tell a lot of about Robin as a manager of the 2012 Sox. Robin has done a lot of good things as far as what we've been used to these last few years under Ozzie, so I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt for right now...
  7. Well here's a big test for Robin. Last time the team got swept they went on a run. They responded. Let's see if it happens again.
  8. Dammit. I kinda wanted the No-No, then maybe this team would wake up, realize they're in a pennant race and take some f***ing action to get out of the slump.
  9. Cause this team ain't gonna look the same in 2013. Go for it now. FYI, I looked this up a while ago. The 1967 White Sox were the team that was in first place the longest without going to the playoffs (that year, obviously, it would have been the World Series). They were in first place for 91 days. There downfall was going 0-5 to end the season...against the two worst teams in the league, Kansas City and Washington. The 2012 White Sox are now at 89 days in first (counting today). Thank you. I was actually wondering what the record was for most days in first place without making the post season. So basically the Sox will achieve that number of days soon. Only a matter of making the post season now.
  10. The whole "enjoy it, nobody thought this team would be here" excuse is kinda BS. Yeah it would be cute if this team turned in a Indians like season where they're in first for a while and then take a s***. It is August 19th an the White Sox are in first place and now are legit contenders to the division. It's serious s*** now and they're in it. I don't know about you guys but if they miss the playoffs after having been in 1st for the majority of the year, I will consider it a disaster not to make the playoffs. Cause this team ain't gonna look the same in 2013. Go for it now. THAT'S why I'm pissed.
  11. Maybe getting no hit will send this team into a 10 game winning streak.
  12. Wow. Just tuned it. I immediately regret this decision.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 18, 2012 -> 07:08 PM) Robin Ventura. I was thrilled to death when we drafted him. Well I was 4 when Robin was drafted. So.... Yea wasnt excited yet.
  14. 1-0 is the same as 5-0 vs. the Royals for whatever reason.
  15. 1 run? Too big a deficit for these headcases

I was excited for Beckham but his ceiling as a prospect wasnt nearly as high as Hawkins' is now. I remember hearing Beckham's MLB comp was Michael Young but Hawkins is Kemp. That's a beast MVP type comparison. A guy that gets national attention/All-Star consideration. I'm also not counting pitching prospects since the Sox havent had problems devolving those guys, it's the impact bats they can't seem to develop and haven't since Frank.

I don't think I've ever been as excited for a prospect as I am for Hawkins.
  18. QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 18, 2012 -> 11:42 AM) But will that be enough? Yeah it doesn't matter what Jake does. He's given good efforts most of the season but also has many CG losses on his belt given up 2-3 runs and getting ZERO support. I don't expect that to change tonight. Here's a drinking game for tonight: take a shot every time Hawk says "Cy Chen", chug the entire bottle when he shuts the team down tonight. Fall asleep.
  19. I won't be able to watch the game, but I think that's a good thing. Of course I will torture myself and continuously check the MLB app haha. Ugh wish I had the self control to not look at it cause I know I'll just be disappointed. Is there some kind of app that blocks looking at other apps? Haha
  20. Until this team proves otherwise I consider their record 65-61. That eight additional automatic losses to KC as far as I'm concerned. Which puts them behind Detroit.
  21. QUOTE (Cali @ Aug 17, 2012 -> 03:25 PM) I want a three spot in the first inning tonight. Make it so! Jerks.
  22. I want a three spot in the first inning tonight. Make it so!
  23. I think Hector can give the team at least 4 innings if they're trying to rest Sale or Peavy. Just put him in a place to succeed. Like starting against Seattle or Cleveland or Minny
