  1. Flip the script, boys!
  2. Random, but when did Rios start going by Alex? They used to call him Alexis didn't they? Earlier in his career?
  3. Cmon Rios... ONE TIME buddy...
  4. FLOWER POWER!! Christ he killed it.
  5. Never thought I'd miss Beckham. Thanks Olmedo! Worth. Less.
  6. Jeez that sounded like a broken bat easy pop out off the bat.
  7. Hawk is literally a different guy with Wimpy in the booth. So refreshing. I hope he's back again in the future.
  8. The picture of the lineup lists Hudson as an "available" position player. So he's hurt but available to pinch run or hit? Why not just start him? (Or is it normal to list a player who just got injured but not bad enough to go to the DL as "available"? I honestly don't know what the protocol is)
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 16, 2012 -> 01:38 PM) If we have to play Olmedo anywhere, I'd rather it be a 2B vs 3B. I'd rather have Hudson with his bruised toe over Olmedo. He is absolutely worthless.
  10. De Aza needed the day off... my only WTF is for Olmedo. Neither him nor Beckham can hit worth a damn, but at least Gordo can play amazing D. Maybe Beckham is injured...
  11. 85 days in 1st place. Pretty incredible...
  12. Can you imagine if the internet as we know it today was around for 94 strike. MELTDOWNS across all forms of social media and message boards haha
  13. Sucks that those teams couldn't win a title. There was a chance in '94... Oh well.
  14. The Nats are starting to run away, getting Stras extra rest would be logical. Jay Mohr's solution kinda makes sense to me: Only start him at home for the rest of the season. He has to start in the playoffs. It would be pointless not to. If you're trying to be super careful only let him start 1 game a series until you get to the World Series. Then all bets are off. Zimmerman, Gio, and Ejax can get them thru the LDS and LCS if Stras only goes in one of the games per series or is just left off those rosters completely. All four in the Series could be dangerous (and fun as hell to watch)
  15. Viciedo heating up is a good thing. That was an oppo bomb he hit. It's also great to see a young power hitter who's not pull happy. Very refreshing.
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 15, 2012 -> 05:14 PM) They also recognize Frank as the best right handed hitter in baseball for a long stretch. All of his numbers scream first ballot Hall of Fame. The steroid era will actually strengthen him in the eyes of those petty writers, as they look to screw guys like Bonds and McGwire who cheated their asses off. I hope they do. I fear they wont recognize that until year two, however.
  17. By the way the Spitting Incident was a one time mistake (that was apologized for years ago -- both men have made up) that somehow erases a brilliant 17 year career by one of the best second basemen ever? But in year two he jumps from 73% to 90%? And that doesn't show you how petty the BWAA is? Imagine what they think of a guy who was mostly a DH? A position that has yet to be recognized by the HOF.
  18. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 15, 2012 -> 05:04 PM) Alomar spit on an ump. What did Frank do? Spit on baseball "tradition".
  19. That was a Griffey-esque finish by Wise
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 15, 2012 -> 04:55 PM) No way. He gets in for sure. I thought so too until Roberto Alomar was somehow 20+% more worthy on his second year than his first. The gatekeepers of the HOF are bitter old white haired baseball writers who would prefer if games were still in black and white. They think NOBODY in the modern era of baseball is HOF worthy. Not even Cal Ripken Jr. (98.53% -- really who would leave him off?!) Also, for the "story", they will want Maddux and Glavine going in together. Can't have Frank in there messing that up.
  21. Unpopular Opinion: Frank WILL NOT get it on the first ballot. He'll have his one year "punishment" for being a DH, and get in on the second time.
  22. THEY DIDN'T GIVE A RUN BACK!
