Theoretically they could potentially send Garcia to AAA since he is working on a new stance/mechanics or I guess trade him.

QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Mar 6, 2016 -> 05:06 PM) Does this move take Shuck out of the 4th outfielder position? If Avi is on the team as well, I just can't see the Sox carrying 5 outfielders at the same time. Why not? They kept 3 1B one year. Shuck can serve as a late inning defensive replacement for Cabrera/Garcia.

As I've been saying for the past few weeks, looks like it was more about playing time than about money.
-
I bet Latos and Danks will get the final 2 spots but Turner will be stashed in the pen as a long reliever/emergency starter until a spot opens. They won't dfa him with the risk of losing him if he continues to impress.

QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Mar 5, 2016 -> 12:50 PM) Thompson? Crawford?

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 4, 2016 -> 05:57 PM) Dan Hayes was on CSN, and while he didn't commit to agree with Levine, he did say he knew as a "fact" the Sox have been after CarGo all offseason but the price has been sky high. Wasn't it posted here a while ago that the Rockies wanted Q but the Sox said no or something along those lines? I don't doubt that they've had interest in the offseason but that doesn't exactly mean they are trying now.

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Mar 4, 2016 -> 05:18 PM) Very misleading thread title... got me excited over nothing Yep. Title should have "may" in it. Or not even exist at all.
-
Levine has been pushing this for months. Plus there's nothing concrete about: "White Sox may now be focused." It's not like he's coming out saying they are definitely in.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 4, 2016 -> 03:05 PM) Levine has been stuck on CarGo to the Sox for 3 months now....not buying it for a second. Exactly. And I kinda feel like the Rockies would rather hold onto him for a few months rather than sell lower on him now.
-
Doubt it means the Rockies move someone. He fits nicely as a bench bat with their left handed bats.

The Cubs enjoy some lighthearted racism at camp

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 4, 2016 -> 11:04 AM) Adam Eaton gets called out for his comments, but this s*** is OK at Cubs camp? Seriously? https://twitter.com/MDGonzales/status/705799798452912128 It's only really offensive if someone is actually offended though. I didn't really feel like scrolling through comments but did anyone say anything? -
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Mar 3, 2016 -> 05:02 PM) Austin Jackson makes more sense here than the Indians, but still believe the race will be so tight nobody will need to make desperation spring training trades or provide overpays on fa's. Upton and JD give them plenty of offense. They'll just have to use Gose more often. I thought the plan was a Gose/Maybin platoon? I doubt Jackson signs to be a platoon player.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 3, 2016 -> 09:09 AM) Peter Gammons @pgammo 5h5 hours ago Dodgers pitcher Brett Anderson to have tests on back http://fw.to/irPSTya . He's out 3-5 months.

QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Mar 3, 2016 -> 08:25 AM) I don't understand the reasoning why people want Sanchez to be in AAA again. In my opinion, he's already proved himself there and putting him back there again does him no good. To me, he should either be in the big leagues or be traded. He's young enough to justify going back down and can still get every day at bats down there. He's fine going back.
-
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Mar 2, 2016 -> 08:48 PM) I take that as a big f*** you to Saladino. I guess he never had a chance. Not necessarily. Rollins can make it as a backup. And I'm sure both will make it over Sanchez.
-
QUOTE (GreenSox @ Mar 2, 2016 -> 05:23 PM) And that's my fundamental disagreement with the FO, field staff, and most on this board: if the vet can't play at least average (esp a 38 year old), play the young guy if there's one available. An exception might be made if it's your only hole, but it isn't. If he wins it, it's perfectly fine. He's even fine on the bench. They obviously don't think Sanchez can play short though.
-
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Mar 2, 2016 -> 01:14 PM) I feel like it's usually in anyones contact. Let's hope Latos and Rollins get all of their incentives. Agree. Would definitely be a fun year if everyone else plays/pitches like they should along with it.
-
QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Mar 2, 2016 -> 01:06 PM) Dan Hayes @CSNHayes 16s17 seconds ago Robin Ventura also expects Jimmy Rollins will make the team. And now to find out over the next month if he will be the starter or not. Stay tuned.

white sox agree with 20 players on roster with contracts

QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Mar 2, 2016 -> 12:29 PM) Somewhere between $507,500 and $535,000. Does it really matter? Really doesn't at all. It's gonna be microscopic as he doesn't even have a full season with us. -
QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Mar 2, 2016 -> 11:34 AM) I'll run around my neighborhood completely naked if Rollins gets all 3 of those incentives. As will I. Would be nice to slot that production between Eaton and Abreu.

Let's keep this updated for those who do fantasy baseball and draft towards the end of Spring training!

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Mar 2, 2016 -> 10:28 AM) I'm going to go to that as well. I'd rather go to the Saturday Game because it's probably a Chris Sale start. Hell yeah...and much cheaper tickets and about half the people. -
QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Mar 2, 2016 -> 11:03 AM) Jon Heyman @JonHeyman 1m1 minute ago Jimmy Rollins gets 2M in majors. No incentives but some award bonuses (100K MVP, 25K gold glove, 15K silver slugger, etc) Let's hope he gets those incentives!

QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Mar 2, 2016 -> 07:46 AM) I take it you're thinking Sands then? Definitely possible at this point. I'm thinking Fields is possible if he can somehow hit as well or better than Shuck in ST. Fields is a much better option, defensively speaking, as a backup to CF. Shuck wasn't very good in CF last year and is much better at the corners. I'm on the fence really, Shuck has a better bat and plate discipline than Fields but Fields has the better defense. Yeah probably Sands assuming they don't bring in a bench bat somehow I guess. I still think Raburn would be perfect to split time with LaRoche. Mashes lefties and we wouldn't have to face him.
