  1. QUOTE (flavum @ Dec 28, 2015 -> 11:41 AM) Thanks, Einstein. Point is, they have time to make another move or two. The impatience here is almost comical. Haha I was just being that guy. I do agree people are too impatient. It's December 28th people.
  2. QUOTE (flavum @ Dec 28, 2015 -> 11:25 AM) 98 days until Sale vs Gray Assuming he or Gray are not injured.
  3. QUOTE (peavy44 @ Dec 28, 2015 -> 11:06 AM) Did the White Sox back out on Alex gordon offer today. Was it ever officially confirmed there was an offer out there?
  4. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Dec 28, 2015 -> 09:19 AM) Buehrle 4/Johnson 5 is significantly better than Johnson 4/Danks 5. I'm not arguing that. I'm saying you can't just make Danks disappear and it's not worth it to eat a large chunk of his salary since he really isn't as bad as people make him sound.
  5. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Dec 28, 2015 -> 08:34 AM) What would it take to get him back to Chicago for a year? $6M? Would love to get Danks out of the rotation. If you can move Danks entire contract allowing them to sign Buehrle and make room for a big bat then sure. Danks is a fine 5th starter though who is most likely not going anywhere.
  6. QUOTE (Lillian @ Dec 28, 2015 -> 07:41 AM) Do they ever!!! Melky, Eaton and Avi would be lucky to hit a total of 40, between the 3 of them. The front office can't possibly allow the season to begin with this roster. They will surely add someone. Let's just hope that they get the right one, and that he doesn't flop. It's not only the power shortage. How many guys would you expect to have OBP's of .350 or higher? I count Abreu, Eaton and maybe Cabrera. So, they have two legitimate power hitters in Abreu and Frazier, and two good OBP hitters in Abreu and Eaton. If they plan to compete this year, I'm sure that they know they are short at the very least, one more productive bat. But then, we too, all know that. The suspense seems only to be exceeded by the boredom. Come on. Do something, already!!! Agree. I'm not counting on Eaton to hit as many as he did (which I guess is fine since he is the leadoff hitter but still). You can argue that they'd be lucky to hit 30 combined.
  7. Yeah I prefer Melky in the 2 spot with a new OF hitting 4th or 5th than Gordon hitting 2nd and Melky hitting 5th (although in that scenario I guess LaRoche can hit 7th).
  8. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 27, 2015 -> 09:32 PM) What new news? There isn't any. Just random tweets without credibility (Most likely) over the last few days.
  9. I'm sure the Nats would rather go with Alvarez or Carter or trade for someone else than trade for LaRoche.
  10. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Dec 26, 2015 -> 08:32 PM) Avi or LaRoche will be gone imo. How can they possibly carry both ? If one of the Big 3 is signed then Avi becomes 4th OF for which he is ill-suited defensively. Or he's in the minors. Yeah if we add an OF I think Avi ends up in the minors taking everyday at bats. Then depending on how LaRoche is doing after a couple months he could come up and replace him.
  11. QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Dec 26, 2015 -> 05:18 PM) Good point I had not thought of. But they would get one if he left, no? That's true they could offer him a QO but he also may suck and we may not offer him one in case he'd accept.
  12. QUOTE (Lillian @ Dec 26, 2015 -> 04:41 PM) That article from MLBTradeRumors looks like something we posters here wrote. The points made are all things we've covered, ad nauseam. I don't think it was an article. He mentioned it was a comment probably from a fan that posted on an article.
  13. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 26, 2015 -> 04:24 PM) I found this comment on MLBTradeRumors.com and I found it pretty interesting. It gives a good summary of the situation the Sox are in. I'll be honest. I don't want to give up a draft pick for a guy who only signs for 1-2 years.
  14. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Dec 25, 2015 -> 12:04 PM) Just my preference but I would be fine with Gordon on a four year deal despite my not being a fan of signing him , but five years? No thanks, that's where I walk away. There are plenty of other available outfielders out there for the Sox to explore so there's no reason to be fixated on just one of them, especially a 32 year old seeking 5/100M+. Yeah 4 years is all I want him at. He's not my preference of the 3 but an obvious upgrade defensively and offensively anyway.
  15. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Dec 25, 2015 -> 09:41 AM) Kennedy should have taken the QO. He could have become a free agent next year in a horrible class of starting pitchers. Agree.
  16. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Dec 25, 2015 -> 08:57 AM) I'm going to go ahead and assume that Upton and Kennedy don't go back to San Diego. Maybe Kennedy but I only see that if they trade Cashner and Ross and Kennedy is still a free agent in like February and signs for cheap (possible one year deal to try again next year?).
  17. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Dec 23, 2015 -> 04:41 PM) I still have no idea what you're basing this on. Who should have been platooned that wasn't? Lol Dunn and Paulie were platooned in 14 and we had a third base platoon to start last year so I'm not sure.
  18. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Dec 25, 2015 -> 07:16 AM) Not sure why anyone would scoff at Gordon getting close to the $70M range. KC is out after lowballing him. It's been reported he wants to stay in the mid-west. I think it's most likely the Sox didn't offer a significant amount above KC's offer which was reportedly 12/13M for 4 years. Perhaps the Sox offered 4/ 17-18 which would be $68/72M. His agent is probably still sticking to the $20M AAV figure if he's going to accept 4 years instead of 5. The Cardinals have been talking to the Rockies about an OF ,perhaps they jump back into the Gordon fray . They fit his profile. That's what I'm thinking as well.
  19. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Dec 25, 2015 -> 12:10 AM) No, the Sox as of this point in time have 27th pick in the draft. And it should get higher as more players sign. In my signature, I have the order as everyone is signed already. From what I've read, the draft spots are already locked in and teams who have QO free agents not sign by draft just lose second round pick. With my way they'll still come down when players sign anyway.
  20. QUOTE (peavy44 @ Dec 25, 2015 -> 12:47 AM) So we can expect all 3 these guys to be cheaper like Gordon 4-5 years 75-80 million instead of 100 million. Nah I was laughed at and made fun of yesterday at the possibility of Gordon signing for close to 70 mil. Obviously he has to sign for 5 years/100 mil because that's what's expected even though there are like 2 teams in on him and one offered around 50 mil.
  21. QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Dec 25, 2015 -> 02:40 AM) Just based off of Buckets answer that the market has been effected and slowed by Heywards contract and the inclusion of Opt outs. I believe Rosenthal or Heyman also tweeted something similar last night. I doubt Gordon would get one (or he could get one and likely not opt out) but I could definitely see Upton getting one being young still.
  22. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 25, 2015 -> 03:27 AM) It would also give the White Sox flexibility perhaps to get out of the contract after 2-3 years. The problem, though, is those types of scenarios these days almost always work to the benefit of the player...he's playing well and can get more money elsewhere in 2018 but if on the decline he can just collect guaranteed money over the remainder of the deal. That situation really left the Dodgers short of pitching with Greinke, but it also prevented disaster with Albert Belle for the Sox almost twenty years ago. That said, you still have to replace that production somehow. That said, Gordon wouldn't stick around just for the salary or paycheck if his skills greatly diminished...he would retire early like Meche or Cud dyer recently with the Mets imo. Teams can get draft pick compensation for guys who opt-out as well and you don't have to possibly pay them for their older, declining years. I think it is kind of a win-win for teams and players.
  23. He didn't really say they should. Just kicked the idea out there and also acknowledged there would be problems in the pen. He wasn't wrong by saying it would be easier to move Robertson than LaRoche. People read too much into stuff people say.
  24. QUOTE (SoCalSox @ Dec 24, 2015 -> 12:12 PM) Biggest thing to remember with raBBit, Bucket, Rock, etc is that each FA/Trade situation is highly fluid and can change on a dime. Just because they get one piece of info that doesn't exactly line up with the end product, doesn't discredit them or make them "fake" or "incorrect". I've had it happen multiple times with Bears info. This times a thousand and I tried to explain that but didn't word it well I guess.
