Vaughn and Sox avoid arbitration: $5.85 million
I was going to say, league average is a lower bar than offense at exclusively 1B.

Chris Getz on the REKAP podcast
Right, they like spending more in the depressed markets of "stars." Closers, where they only really touch 9-figures (and the more recent big closers) if it's 5+ more years of a contract and guys on the wrong side of 30.

Ah yeah. I was thinking Avi. But also maybe Brett Lawrie.

What was it before, a team would have to pay like 20% of the salary if he's cut before the season?

Off-Season Pass the Time Catch-All
They should have added someone who could play SS instead of Rojas for sure

Off-Season Pass the Time Catch-All
Looking for that stopgap SS they can cut after a month. I don’t think that’s Iglesias though. Had a good year.

White Sox sign LHP Martin Pérez
They can put him on at the start of spring training to open up a 40-man spot. The 60 days would start at the beginning of the season so he would be eligible to come off the IL at the end of May.

They don't have the money now? Their payroll is like $70M.

Yeah, I would prioritize DFAing 20s/early 30s group and hold onto the younger guys: Scholtens, Justin Anderson, Marinaccio, Murfee, Varland. Don't think it'll be Steven Wilson even though he could be in that group.- White Sox sign LHP Martin Pérez
I was kind of leaning Scholtens but he will still probably miss some time at the beginning of the season to the point he will prob be a 60-day IL guy (meaning, you can open a 40-man spot at the start of Spring Training). I'm going to guess Murfee as well.- White Sox sign LHP Martin Pérez
Idk you need a lot of arms. Plus, if he is respectable, he’ll he dealt sometime in the summer. Plenty of innings for young guys after that. Plus, injuries happy and you really can’t plan for that (unless their names are Yoán, Eloy, Luis haha)- White Sox agree to 1 year deal with INF Josh Rojas
I agree with not burning a full year of service. But Sox, in the past, have not really played the service time game. Edit: also, it’s kind of telling there aren’t any true SSs on the 40-man.- White Sox agree to 1 year deal with INF Josh Rojas
I can't see how Colson at SS on OD isn't the plan. It has to be his to lose. On the 40-man, you don't have any real SS. Baldwin can maybe fake and hold down the fort but there really aren't any other options. Maybe Lenyn? But he also hasn't really played there the past few years.- White Sox sign LHP Martin Pérez
Unfortunately, true.- White Sox sign LHP Martin Pérez
Yeah, they're kind of failing at this.- White Sox sign LHP Martin Pérez
So we got the financial details of this deal before the details of Rojas?- White Sox sign LHP Martin Pérez
They need some veteran SP to eat innings. The young guys will get plenty of innings anyway.- White Sox sign LHP Martin Pérez
No, I'm pretty sure he was the corresponding move for the move prior to Rojas (Gilbert maybe?).- White Sox sign LHP Martin Pérez
So now they need to remove 2 guys from the 40-man, correct? Never saw who was DFA'd for Rojas.- Reds acquire Soxtalk favorite Gavin Lux
Do you really believe they've soured on Robert that much?- Crochet Traded to Boston
This is his Super Bowl- Roki Sasaki Free Agency - Dodgers vs Blue Jays for Roki's heart
Right, which I’m assuming the Sox are part of the 20, but not the fraction.- Roki Sasaki Free Agency - Dodgers vs Blue Jays for Roki's heart
MLB.com article said 20 teams made presentations, which we know the Sox submitted one. I feel like it's probably Seattle.- Have fun finding a 2026 FA outfielder
I'm pretty sure they ate John Danks salary when he had over a year left. Edit: nvm, he was released in his final year - White Sox sign LHP Martin Pérez
