  1. Grichuk being healthy and productive this year (and making league minimum) would make him much more attractive to teams. But also, I would probably want to keep him over Hays.
  2. Eh, rentals won’t
  3. Maybe Soxtalk will be wrong again on the value of a player. We’ve made trades the past 3-4 years where we ended up being underwhelmed due to us overvaluing guys. Or having different targets than ultimately received. Maybe we’ll be wrong on Detmers too.
  4. It could be if he goes for less than people think he’ll go for
  5. Peters has cratered back down to earth since the All Star break
  6. Yeah you can at least grab him and DFA him if you work out a trade for someone else.
  7. Control as in through pre-/arbitration eligible players? Probably not. Guys with bigger inflated contracts signed through 2027? Maybe.
  8. Jake Rogers DFA'd by the Tigers. Also doing bad at the plate overall but still hitting lefties (SSS though). And his 0.0 WAR is higher than both Quero (-1.0) and Romo (-0.4)!
  9. I kinda liked him as a possible buy low guy in the offseason since he was moved to the pen last year (didn't make a single MLB start in 2025). Oh well.
  10. They should definitely pounce quickly before the lockout.
  11. What is the 40-man at? 39 now? I only count 4 guys who may come back this season that are currently on the 60-day IL (one being Hays who will probably be dumped). If they acquire a catcher, Romo is the guy to be DFA'd unless there's a negative update on Teel and he needs to go to the 60-day IL. Maybe you move a guy like Bush in a deal for a rental pitcher instead of one of your prospects. Urquidy is a guy who may not be long for the 40-man, depending. If you grab 2 starters, I guess that makes Fedde expendable as well. There's also 6 lefties currently on the 40-man, not counting if Schultz or eventually Bush were to get innings there this year or if Kay were moved there after adding starters. Tyler Gilbert: easy cut.
  12. Robbie Ray should be one of them: $25M salary this year, soon to be free agent, Giants are selling. Saw a decent mock that had Castillo coming to the White Sox for Austin Hays (Mariners in need of RHH bench bat), Ely Brown and one other (I think number 20 prospect). Just don't really love the Castillo contract. But if there was a similar pitcher on a team that has pitching depth to deal from with another MLB need (like Hays could fill), that would make sense.
  13. Add Michael King in the mix too. He has a player option for next year worth $28M (and the year after ($30M) but not sure he opts out or not. 2/$58M is kind of a lot to walk away from but he is 31 and can probably grab a 3-4 year deal. Probably be worth more player wise than others talked about.
  14. No one is saying they should trade Carlson for a rental. In fact, the only rental who would probably that kind of prospect is Skubal.
  15. It wouldn’t take any of those guys to get Singer. No one is saying that.
  16. Plenty of rentals they can add
  17. Probably get similar to what they got for Slater last year.
  18. He’s got enough of a track record. 1 or 2 good games isn’t going to make any difference. Teams can go see that he’s healthy in Charlotte.
  19. Yeah I saw he struggled a bit in the beginning due to trying to pitch with a blister.
