Man, I wish we could have pulled this off. Probably wouldn't have signed Keuchel.

According to one poster, there was going to be no baseball from 2020 through 2023.
-
Yeah and when he’s struggling and some young guys are hitting, I really hope he is moved down a bit in the order.
-
Nah I just laugh at your takes, really.
-
I've realized it's pointless arguing with the poster due to being biased towards anyone who has ever put on a Sox uniform haha
-
I agree with you.

If there was ever time for a cry face emoji.

Fathoming Bauer not securing a job anywhere?

They paid him last year. -
Because he hates veteran players.

Just spending money on Conforto > giving up prospects.

Well luckily 4 of those 6 will still be in the lineup, Sheets can go to AAA to be depth, and who cares about at bats for Collins.
-
Don’t you think Vaughn would likely go in a deal for Marte?
-
RIP Luis Robert's legs. And who are you spending money on to play 2B if you aren’t upgrading RF?
-
Right...they're not supposed to be but I wouldn't be surprised if they are. Nothing is going to leak.

How insane and wonderful would a 3/4 day GM meetings be right after the lockout. It honestly sucks we haven't had Winter Meetings since 2019.

Universal DH coming to baseball apparently
Bob Sacamano replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Coming back to this point, does that go into effect immediately or next off-season? Just wondering as a poster that also wants Conforto. -
Possible they could have picked him up as a fallback plan incase they don't grab other infield targets they are supposedly interested in (Bryant, Story). I don't think they gave up much to get him so dealing him if they sign someone else wouldn't be a bad option. Though with his ability to play outfield as well (which also seems to be getting crowded), might be better to keep him and figure out a way to get everyone at bats.

Yeah like I said earlier in the thread, there are teams like the Dodgers, Mets, Braves that have depth where it wouldn't really matter to them. And more at bats for position players on rebuilding teams or adding a cheap veteran to try to trade at the deadline. I feel like you can pretty much look at every NL team and figure out who would get the bulk of the at bats, and that's before additional trades or signings. Edit: it looks like Roster Resource has already done this with projected lineups (Mous moved from 2B to DH, the terrible defensive Clint Frazier for Cubs DH, etc). -

I'd say both. I'm more referring to the idea that he said that teams would have to re-structure their rosters and that the DH is not possible for this year. While they weren't building a roster with the idea the DH was definitely coming (ie: throwing money at a DH only player), it's not like they are being caught off guard as it was/is likely to come. They knew it was possible at the beginning of the off-season and there are still plenty of options to add to the mix to DH. -

Yeah and I feel like it was already in the back of owners' minds to have a plan if the DH is added. -

It's really his only value to this organization at this point haha -

Some teams with lots of depths will be fine and you can find a couple guys on their roster that should get a bulk of DH at bats (Dodgers always have lots of depth, Mets Cano/Smith, Braves Ozuna etc) and the rebuilding teams don't really matter. Opens up more at bats for a young player for them. Plus, there are still plenty of free agents out there when they are able to spend again (Cruz, Castellanos can get DH/COF at bats, Schwarber, etc). -
I'll guess it's a poor proposal and gets rejected honestly.

Some of us would take him for the right price but I doubt Jerry would. Especially if the rumors were true about him not wanting Hinch for ethics. I feel like this stuff is on a completely different level than cheating in a game.
