  1. Why? Goldschmidt got that plus more. Who is the better player of the 2? Also factor in they can offer a QO in the off-season to recoup something they trade away.
  2. You sure the O's let him walk in free agency?
  3. Uhhh which star are you referring to?
  4. Technically it can if you have someone like Leury play 2B to sub for Anderson (with Mendick shifting to SS).
  5. There's no point of doing that with Madrigal unless it is really cheap and he gives up multiple years of free agency to make the risk worth it (unlike the Eloy and Robert deals where we got one).
  6. I'm not saying right now. Just saying he could be that guy eventually.
  7. Look again what I said. I'm saying if he won the case he would have less control meaning less trade value. But reading is hard.
  8. Eh I kinda would have preferred he won, not that I believe he had a chance. One less year of control if he stays with Cubs and also less trade value if they move him.
  9. I don't think they'll be one of the final bidders personally. If Jerry is signing anyone to a $300+, long-term deal, it will be someone already in house like Moncada. Dude is loyal (sometimes to a fault).
  10. The luxury tax CAP goes by AAV anyway so it doesn't matter if he is paid significantly more one year and then significantly little the next.
  11. Ideally, these guys are playing close to 162 games a year (in a perfect world, you shouldn't have to worry about Leury being the only backup in CF on your team if he's playing 5-10 games out there). But hard to not plan for injuries.
  12. I think they'll look for someone who can play SS too. So can probably cross most of those names off besides Miller and Mercer really.
  13. More likely to go to someone already on the roster who isn't signed long-term (Moncada) than someone outside.
  14. If he is in the mix as a starter, I would say he has a pretty good chance of making their aging roster as a backup.
  15. Yeah I think I would have been fine with it. He would be your starting RF making your defense better and your backup CF so you wouldn't really need Engel.
  16. Growing belief among NL GMs is NL will have the DH in 2021. Reds are clearly getting ahead of the curve
  17. I do agree and I think most teams normally do 12 with a 4-man (5 if NL) bench but with the extra spot this year, you probably see an extra pitcher from everyone who had used 12 (mostly) previous years.
