  1. I'd hope so: Robert CF Anderson SS Moncada 3B Castellanos RF Jimenez LF Abreu DH/1B Collins 1B/C McCann C/DH Madrigal 2B Maybe too right-handed but just give me the best 9 you can possibly put out. Also don't think right-handers have as extreme of splits as lefties do against lefties.
  2. Right. It was to expand his market from teams who need a 3B to teams that need a 3B or SS. He was going to play whatever position the team that paid him the most told him to play.
  3. I kinda feel the same too. I was done with him but there's no one else. It can be his final chance.
  4. What is Moncada's preferred position? (this is a serious question because I don't ever remember reading if he had one).
  5. I always do every player's draft year.
  6. I get what you're saying, but I would imagine Boras being all over every dollar possible.
  7. They still have to negotiate the amount of the bonus and his salary every year he is arbitration eligible with Boras.
  8. Yep. Also feel like this is Joe's last season as manager of the Cubs for that reason. Weren't the players outspoken about it last year?
  9. Yeah, there's the whole mental side of hitting, human element to the game in certain situations.
  10. I came here to say pretty much all of this. Some people perform better in different situations. Being able to drive in runs is important.
  11. I'd probably make him a lower offer. If he doesn't take it, yeah non-tender him.
  12. You're acting like they're going to be at the luxury tax amount if they sign a few free agents and pay 3 players about $25 mill. Beyond next year, only Tim Anderson is officially under contract at $7.25 mill in 2021. Edit: forgot the Eloy extension for some reason. And he will be earning $4.333 mill in 2021.
  13. You can also factor Colome and Herrera leaving for free agency after next year, along with Abreu if he only signs a one year deal. They have so much flexibility.
  14. Yeah, I would bet on it not getting that high for 3 first year arb eligible players.
  15. I'm pretty sure I read that they can be called up after 11 days, which would be early April.
  16. I'm only in favor of a McCann extension if it reasonably cheap. Even if the bat regresses, he still works really well with the pitchers behind the plate. It does kind of limit Collins value though unless you give him a new opportunity as the starting 1B next year, with some spot starts behind the plate and getting DH at bats.
  17. I do think Mendick and Yermin should have been up a while ago. Already old for prospects and at-bats are going to be hard to come by going forward (unless there are injuries). Collins should be getting at-bats as well but would probably be hard getting him and Yermin every day at bats in a scenario they are both up.
  18. I mean, I don't disagree with keeping them down. I'm on that side. But I actually believe they believe they will be competitive next year and saying that they won't be is just a bs reason to keep him down. Remember, they did make some bad signings in years they thought they were going to be competitive (granted, they thought the player wasn't going to bad). So while I think they will be aggressive for sure, I can't speak to the quality of who they sign.
  19. Sorry. I meant as in it's just bs as in a reason to keep him down, but they believe the core guys are in place right now and they will add to it to be competitive. Along with Robert and Madrigal early next year.
  20. Believe its still 40 this year. Next yeat is when the roster changes take place (25 to 26 players, 40 to 28 players in September).
