  1. Exactly. I honestly don't even believe it.
  2. "but some new details of their discussions could offer a roadmap to the Yankees." Where did these details even leak?
  3. Yeah it seems like the only way they could be in is if they shipped a decent prospect or two along with Jacoby Ellsbury's full contract to like KC or Detroit or somewhere where his deal would have no impact on him being there.
  4. I could see teams at towards the start of a rebuild (KC, Bal, Det) being out of it, but yeah teams that have payroll space and need a huge bat should be all over it. I don't know what the Rangers plans are either, but he would make sense as a long-term replacement for Beltre. Or the Rockies dealing away a year of Arenado for prospects and signing a younger star now as opposed to an older Arenado. Or like you said for the Cardinals, they can shift DeJong to 2B and play Machado at SS for a year. Or shift Carpenter back to 2B and play him at 3B, whatever. Maybe not preferred destinations, but if they offered the most money they would look desirable.
  5. Outside of the usual big spenders, it still amazes me more teams aren't involved.
  6. Best username and pic on this site. How did that name not exist yet?
  7. Weren't they the ones saying that the Sox were offering about $200m (believed to be about $210m) just a couple weeks ago?
  8. I will say, it's definitely better for them if neither has signed with anyone yet as opposed to them both signing with other teams.
  9. I really don't ha. I wouldn't be opposed to signing Machado, one of Gio/Pomeranz, and Ottavino and calling it an off-season though.
  10. You can pretty much make an a good starting lineup out of the current free agents on January 16th. It's definitely broken.
  11. Godspeed man. Godspeed.
  12. Toss in the egos of the Sox front office and it was certainly going to be a shit show.
  13. Just reading that for the first time, I don't think that's a shot at the Sox at all.
  14. You think it's possible these guys make shit up to try to stir up interest? Because I believe it is entirely possible.
  15. Too many big egos at play here for the Sox to get a deal of this magnitude done.
  16. I fucking hate this and wish I had the self-control to stop checking.
  17. Could be worse....they could have photo-shopped him with a Cubs hat on.
  18. Wasn't the Clarkin move done to make room for Herrera? Shouldn't it be 40?
  19. Bingo. Increase MILB salaries and increase the MLB league minimum.
  20. LOL great thread name. Edit: who do we give credit to for the changes?
  21. So teams would have to spend as low as $185m (90%) for this season?
  22. Please make all of this end.
  23. Ah yes. Now we've hit our quota. Good....good.
