  1. I can't argue against Vargas getting majority of the playing time at 3B. One time former top prospect should be playing there in a lost year. Ramos can wait his turn. I think its weird that they signed a 3B, who's best attribute is his defense at 3B, to play 2B. He may be the backup, but again, we do have depth at those 2 spots. Need a little more coverage at SS by someone at least average there defensively. Not a lot of money and he probably doesn't survive the season so it's whatever.
  2. If you're going to keep him down, I would keep him down long enough to where it seems like he couldn't win RoY though. Because then he gets the full year anyway.
  3. I think he sticks on the Mets as backup OF/platoon DH with Winker and Marte is the one who is DFA'd. Dude is moved to the bench, always hurt, and in the last year of his deal.
  4. To the bolded: No. Definitely not. To the italicized: I feel like if they had non-tendered Vaughn in the off-season, I would have been cool giving Elko a shot. His time could come later with injuries though.
  5. Anyone else feel like Teel may get a chance on the OD roster with a strong spring? It also allows both catching prospects to work every day at either MLB or AAA. I forgot which thread it was posted in but that write-up sounded really good on him to where I'm in on him winning RoY lol I'm in on him at +4000 odds
  6. If Slater and Taylor were in camp on MiLB deals (or just one with Robert traded), I would totally see the argument for trading for him. There just wasn't room to stash him on bench.
  7. Every team could have submitted a claim. It's just that no teams apparently offered what the Mets did.
  8. CHSN tomorrow and I'm pretty sure Schultz and Hagen* are pitching. *was going to say Smith but then realized there is another ha
  9. Right like I'll take the owner who may spend money over the current owner who is not spending anyway.
  10. I get that the “grass isn’t always greener on the other side” but you don’t want to have any hope? Look at who our owner is now.
  11. I do think you gotta let Vargas play there in a lost season but they shouldn't haven't had Rojas. It was a weird move since he is primarily a good defensive 3B, a spot where we have a few options on the depth chart. Same for 2B. Would rather have just added a guy who can primarily backup SS and the other IF spots rather than us trying to figure out who will be the backup and saying "well, I guess they're going to play Rojas there even though he hasn't played the spot since 2021 (below average mind you)."
  12. Let him finally resolve the RF solution by signing Tucker first 😉 Thinking about it, it's amazing the last rebuild didn't even yield a RF.
  13. Yeah. And the fact he doesn’t really play SS is odd. They probably should have added someone like Iglesias who can.
  14. No correlation. I feel like even when they are good or expected to be good, they suck in Spring Training. I should start betting against them earlier than I was planning.
  15. Also had a roster spot open with Madrigal moving to 60-day IL
  16. There's another one draft eligible in 2025 and one in 2027 lol
  17. Nope. Made this comment in the offseason. But sure, if they win 50 games throw a fuckin party.
  18. Yeah, we even had the surprises of Crochet and Fedde. Wouldn't be at all surprised if they're chasing their record they just set to the last week of the season.
  19. Literally has nothing to do with going off Spring Training stats or anything like that.
  20. I get people are saying that the team should be better than last year just by luck and variance and all that but on paper, no this team is not better going into this year than it was last year.
