QUOTE (Lillian @ Jul 18, 2017 -> 09:46 PM) I see that Clippard is in the final year of his contract, and was only owed $4.25 million this year. That's not much of a negative. Maybe he can help bridge the gap, the rest of the year, as the Sox are going to need someone to pitch, and I don't think that they are anxious to call up the young studs. Clippard hasn't really pitched that badly, except for that inflated ERA. Exactly. Someone has to pitch.

QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Jul 18, 2017 -> 09:45 PM) Should have changed it to green to show sarcasm. He's using 2014 and 2015 picks as comparison, but they were trying to compete then. If he can use data that makes no sense, I will as well Oh I thought you were the guy arguing they should be winning lol my bad

QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ Jul 18, 2017 -> 09:38 PM) Clippard is a FA after the season, really doesn't matter. Agreed. We're taking him back so we have an arm and don't have to send a little cash to Yanks for D-Rob/Frazier. Same thing as if we sent cash wish them, didn't get Clippard back and Yanks dfa'd him.

QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jul 18, 2017 -> 03:51 PM) I just don't see Avi as part of our next contender, and I don't think there's any way he's ever going to have a BETTER season, so I'm all for moving him for a decent offer, despite his youth. I agree. It would be different if he had at least 3-4 years of control left.

Frazier to Boston Rumors getting heavy
Bob Sacamano replied to whitesoxwinner's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Lillian @ Jul 18, 2017 -> 08:19 AM) I think that you're right, and that Lowrie certainly could work for the BoSox. However, our Sox could provide something, which Oakland could not and that is the kind of salary relief, which "Beautox" suggested. That may explain what is taking so long for this to materialize. The financial aspects of such a deal would require some pretty complex considerations. That Sandoval would be coming over here? I kinda doubt it but think the Sox should be open to the idea if it means a better prospect haul. -
Frazier to Boston Rumors getting heavy

I think Jed Lowrie still makes a ton of sense for the Red Sox. Has a cheap option for next season and you gotta remember, Devers is only 20. They could make the case that they want to see him in AAA for a year. They can also trade Lowrie in the off-season/early next year if they want to see Devers for most of the season. -
QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 16, 2017 -> 04:39 PM) Doesn't matter what happens with Giants-Padres. Sox finish the week with the 3rd pick position. 11 weeks left. Padres up 7-1. I like that.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 16, 2017 -> 04:00 PM) Don't they have to cause DH? QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 16, 2017 -> 04:02 PM) No idea...just thought I'd add it on here If they have to make a roster move, they probably have to make room on the 40-man to add someone as the 26th man. People here speculated it could be Devers. Is he on 40? -

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 16, 2017 -> 01:27 PM) Nightengale saying only "fringe" prospects coming back in potential Frazier deal, and that we'd eat cash too. Figured as much but damn those tweets last few days got me excited. -
Nationals acquire Doolittle/Madson from As
Bob Sacamano replied to Whisox05's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jul 16, 2017 -> 12:33 PM) Right but they've been balking at the Sox price for like 8 months now, while blowing like a game a week. Clearly they didn't want to give up serious prospects for a closer, and they just got two of the Proven Closer brand. I'd be absolutely shocked if they ponied up now. I don't see them "ponying up" per se. I doubt Robles, Fedde, and Soto are going anywhere. I think anyone else could be on table. -

QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jul 16, 2017 -> 12:24 PM) What are you guys talking about? Both of those guys have tons of closing experience and are having good seasons. Because adding 3 good relievers would be better than adding just 2. Especially when you bought the first 2 so cheap. -

QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jul 16, 2017 -> 12:20 PM) Fantastic trade for the Nats. Surprised Oakland couldn't do better. Thats why some of us on here wouldn't be shocked to see Schwarber as the center piece in a Gray deal lol -

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 16, 2017 -> 12:19 PM) I actually think the opposite. If I just managed to get those two guys for that, I'd be on the phone with Hahn right now getting Robertson for one of my 3-5 prospects. I agree. I could see Kieboom plus a couple others being on the table. -

Have Madson through next year and Doolittle through 20. Good trade. -

Could see why they would do that deal. Now, do they still go out and add one more? -
QUOTE (ecupittfan @ Jul 15, 2017 -> 12:09 PM) And Bumgarner is back today. That will help SF get a few more wins, if he stays off his motorcycles. Thats why I kinda want Padres to take at least 2/3 this weekend. Bumgarner back should help Giants win some games next 2 months.
