QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Mar 27, 2017 -> 11:28 PM) I now believe Jacob May is your starting CF on Monday Agreed. Or Garcia if they want to see if May keeps hitting in the minors. I have no problem with either.
-
QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Mar 28, 2017 -> 12:00 AM) Not sure if it really makes a difference for a fringe prospect like May, but why not keep him in the minors for a couple weeks to get the extra year of control just in case he becomes something in the big leagues? You answered it yourself.

What about Cespedes' brother? Whats his deal.

QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Mar 27, 2017 -> 06:00 PM) These guys have to be so ready to head north. It's been pretty hot down there already including quite a few days in the mid 90s just adding to the tedium of late spring training games. Some of these guys have been down there almost two months now. Spring Training is definitely too long. Start 2 weeks later and schedule extra split squad games.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Mar 27, 2017 -> 12:40 PM) Asche is on a minor league contract, so the Sox have to make room for him on the 40-man. I know Asche has played well, but they can always get him up before the end of April too. If he makes it, it's not that big of a deal either, just that it's easier to control Asche than others who are out of options. Has Tilson officially been placed on the DL yet? If not, that would clear a spot for Asche. Roster is already at 38 with 2 spots likely going to Soto and Bourjos as well. Rodon is also likely for the dl.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Mar 25, 2017 -> 12:18 AM) I will refrain from commenting unless you really wanna hear my opinion. Nah we're good. QUOTE (greg775 @ Mar 25, 2017 -> 12:18 AM) I disagree with almost all posts nowadays during the alleged rebuild. You've disagreed with almost all posts for as long as I can remember. It's gets tiresome watching you argue almost everything/bringing in the Royals all the time.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Mar 26, 2017 -> 08:47 PM) Bourjos is fine as a 4th OF, but I would hate to waste everyday at-bats on him. The more I think about it, the more I'm willing to roll the dice on May in CF for a month. Probably would end up being a failed experiment, but May is such a fringey prospect to begin with that I see nothing to lose by trying at least. Agreed. Although Bourjos is already drawing trade interest from TB. I think they will just sign a right handed hitting OF that gets cut somewhere else though.

QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 26, 2017 -> 04:34 PM) I hope Benetti is in and out after a few years. There, I said it. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Mar 26, 2017 -> 04:36 PM) Agreed. He's so bland. You guys realize whoever they would replace him with would more than likely sound similar, right?

No one ever talks about Dunning who was a first round pick last year.

QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Mar 24, 2017 -> 06:39 PM) Reliever who got a minor-league deal/spring training invite from the Sox. 2015 MLB with the Twins: 8.78 K/9, 2.70 BB/9, 3.38 ERA, 3.32 SIERA 2016 AAA with the Yankees: 8.29 K/9, 1.54 BB/9, 3.86 ERA, 2.96 FIP 2016 MLB with the Yankees: 9.00 K/9, 2.03 BB/9, 5.52 ERA, 3.21 SIERA 2017 Spring Training with the Sox: 11.6 K/9, 1.9 BB/9, 3.86 ERA, 2.58 FIP Interesting pick-up. Was there a point to posting this now? Did he make the team or something and I just missed it?

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Mar 24, 2017 -> 12:34 PM) Pirates Jung Ho Kang Denied Visa, In Doubt To Make 2017 Season They wouldn't have to pay him since he would be on restricted list. Salary room for an addition!

QUOTE (Username @ Mar 24, 2017 -> 02:14 PM) I can see the hesitation on Jimenez, but Happ is completely blocked and won't have a position on that team. Heck, even Baez is basically a utility player for them. Even Jimenez doesn't make much sense unless he sticks in center, Schwarber can't play anything but LF and Heyward isn't going to rake in $20+ million a year to sit. I think he gets moved in the off-season personally. I also don't think they're urgent due to just winning the world series, something they haven't done in 108 years. who knows, maybe they become interested in Q in July.

QUOTE (Superstar Lamar @ Mar 24, 2017 -> 01:26 PM) I, for the life of me, cannot figure out why the Cubs are not involved in discussions for Quintana. It just seems like such a great fit now and really smart long term budgeting for the future. Any prospect they give up would be duplicative of what they currently have cost controlled and performing at the MLB level. Meanwhile, adding Quintana takes all the bite out of Arrietta's demands that will most likely be in the $25 million per year range. I really do not know how a smart executive like Epstein doesn't see this. Lol yes, I'm sure the idea has never occurred to Epstein./green

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Mar 24, 2017 -> 11:53 AM) I still don't know what the Astros are doing. Springer & Reddick are under control for four more seasons. I get Tucker would be nice to slide in alongside those guys, but they'll have plenty of other internal options to fill that spot in the coming years. And Martes has a huge ceiling but also has huge question marks. I just can't fathom how those two guys would be off limits for a legit TOR starter that fits in perfectly with their competitive window. I really think Luhnow will regret not addressing this need during the offseason because the cost of elite pitching will only go up as we get closer to the deadline. Tucker just turned 20 so it's not like he's blocked over the course of the next 4 years (maybe 3) since he can theoretically come up after they are gone as well or in the last year. Fisher is having a good spring so maybe he can push for a spot early in the season (if not on Opening Day roster). That would be 7 years of control for a likely corner outfield bat who can also play CF. You would think since they have Reddick and Springer for 4 years and then possibly Fisher for 7 (along with additional OF prospects), they should be open to dealing Tucker.

QUOTE (TheFutureIsNear @ Mar 24, 2017 -> 09:33 AM) I want 0 parts of Josh Bell as the #1 hitting prospect we get back for Q. Meadows or bust from the Pirates, even if it means no Glasnow. Meadows, Keller, + 1 of Newman/Hayes/Craig + a lotto ticket young arm. Not that I disagree because I'd rather have Meadows but what is wrong with Bell? Are you the one that said he was too much like Viciedo (which is completely inaccurate) a while back?

QUOTE (Blackout Friday @ Mar 24, 2017 -> 08:34 AM) Word is Jung Ho Kang was denied a work visa and may have trouble attaining one this season. Maybe they saw some of Delmonico this spring while scouting Q (yesterday especially) and came away impressed. Just a thought if that could be worked into a deal. I assume the Toddfather is out of their price range. (Adding this point was the edit) I would think that they would just play David Freese at third.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 24, 2017 -> 07:33 AM) Nice swing but no position. Thats going to be his challenge. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Mar 24, 2017 -> 07:40 AM) Give him reps in LF and see how he responds. No harm in trying. I'm fine with him getting reps at third to begin the season personally. If he looks rough, try pulling the plug and play him in LF from then until there is room for him at the MLB level.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Mar 24, 2017 -> 07:23 AM) Mike, I'm not sure 23 would be considered old for AA. In fact, I'd guess it's right around league average or maybe even a little below. Regardless, Delmonico has real talent even if recent prospect rankings haven't recognized it. Part of that is due to the troubles he had in Milwaukee, where he quickly lost a lot of goodwill. Having said that, there's no denying how impressive his AA season was for us last year. Rarely do you see guys post numbers like that in Birmingham. Looking at Baseball Reference, he was a year younger than the average age.

Giants' left-hander Will Smith to undergo TJ Surgery.

QUOTE (Tony @ Mar 23, 2017 -> 07:29 PM) You're right, he does. Try growing up with nothing your entire life, then get handed 63 million dollars at 19 years old. See how "mature" you act. It's a concern when he struggles at the MLB level, and doesn't make adjustments. $31.5 mill*. Not the point but still.

QUOTE (turnin' two @ Mar 23, 2017 -> 05:43 PM) There will be an abundance of scouts at each of Q's starts I would bet. Well yeah I know that. Look at the comment I was responding too.
-
QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Mar 23, 2017 -> 05:10 PM) I don't only because today did not do anything to improve Q's value. Everyone knows he is a terrific starter locked in at an extremely affordable rate for the next four years. Dominating a (bad Reds) team in Spring Training does not really move the needle in terms of Q's talent/affordability. What will move that needle is another team's desperation: major injury or bad performance by another team's starter. I don't foresee that happening until May at the earliest. Why would there be even more scouts there today if a start against the Reds doesn't matter.
-
QUOTE (reiks12 @ Mar 23, 2017 -> 05:02 PM) Another dominating performance from Q. How many scouts were there today? Apparently an extra row or two more than usual.
-
QUOTE (steveno89 @ Mar 23, 2017 -> 04:15 PM) Doubtful I still think Quintana gets dealt closer to the deadline Sox would love to move him, but know they absolutely cannot settle for a lesser package with their final blue chip trade piece It's not the Sox caving in my opinion.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Mar 23, 2017 -> 04:13 PM) Anyone think the game of chicken ends after today and something gets done? I am starting to feel that way.
