Lopez and Kopech Starting Tomorrow 2/28
Bob Sacamano replied to 5+6=Perfection's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Feb 28, 2017 -> 04:00 PM) If I was going to say any of those guys took a bit longer, I'd have pegged it to be Moncada. That said, I still say it would be dissapointing if they weren't all on the major league roster come the summer. It would definitely suck as we all want to see him but I would completely understand why it happened if it did. Sucks that the Red Sox put him on their 40-man in September. He currently wouldn't be on our 40-man right now as he wouldn't have enough minor league time to warrant the need for it. -

I really wouldn't be opposed to Moncada getting a full year in Triple-A to be honest. Maybe a September call-up and then called up June 2018 (if he's producing) and then having him for the remainder of the year plus 6 years. This is only his age 21-season so you can definitely make a case for it. -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 28, 2017 -> 09:42 AM) In general that will be the best way to get tickets. I am going to get on line to make sure I get good seats for the Buehrle game. Shhhh don't give people ideas lol

QUOTE (greg775 @ Feb 28, 2017 -> 01:43 PM) We acquire pitchers all the time and Coop fixes them. Alvarez was a top draft pick and so many people on here are convinced if we tank we'll get top draft picks who will excel. More draft picks flop than excel. Do you even know who you're talking about anymore?
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 28, 2017 -> 01:22 PM) They will both wash out relatively quickly. (Davidson and Asche) Honestly there is a decent chance that neither is on the opening day roster, and rightfully so. Hell, Asche may not even be in the minors since he would have to be DFA'd. Especially when you factor in having to make room for guys not on the 40-man but probably going to make the team (Bourjos comes to mind).

QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Feb 28, 2017 -> 01:13 PM) Imo, Lawrie stands a good chance of being released at the end of ST. His leg is still bothering him and the Sox have Saladino to play 2B who is the better player anyway. Lawrie literally has no value. Anyway, back to Wright. I wonder what a good asking price for Frazier is if the Mets were interested. Would like to get Nimmo but something tells me that's a bit of a reach. Yeah I'm kinda thinking Lawrie gets released at the end of Spring Training. Especially if Tyler tears it up. Minimal trade value and he's always hurt. Not really a ton of upside. As for Frazier, he needs to get on the field himself first haha

QUOTE (rowand's rowdies @ Feb 28, 2017 -> 01:03 PM) How long during the regular season do you give these guys like Davidson and Asche a chance to succeed? I keep seeing people suggest Davidson gets a chance in the MLB. How many ABs or Games (Non-DH) is your definition of "a chance" exactly? Does Davidson get a longer chance than Asche? Does Avi get a longer chance than both? When is enough enough? Then how long do you give the next man up a chance to prove himself if he's not a top prospect and just someone you are trying out? Maybe this is more of a topic than post. Just interested in seeing your opinions. Probably a decent amount of at bats. It's not like someone else is knocking on the door for those at bats. Hopefully a team needs a 3B and Frazier is dealt early.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Feb 28, 2017 -> 12:41 PM) I want Alvarez. The Sox rebuild is SLOW. So try to win this year as well. We need a DH desperately. On paper he'd be a prime candidate to blossom. We always sign pitchers who are on the comeback trail, why not hitters? Alvarez would fill a need. Then you add a catcher and a middle reliever via trade if we are in contention at the all star break. I can't figure out how the Sox are selling any season tickets at this point. They are just telling the fans we are rebuilding at a snail's pace. We have a ton of veteran players still but we have no intention of contending with them. Seriously ... Shields?? Robertson?? Frazier?? Melky?? Avi?? Abreu?? Lawrie?? Holland?? Q?? And we're rebuilding?? I don't get it at all!!!! Don't insult me, White Sox. Pick up Alvarez now please. What's so hard to understand? Even if they traded all those guys, it's not like the rebuild would be over. There was no market for most of them this off-season. Have patience man.

QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Feb 28, 2017 -> 12:35 PM) IMO it would be best to let him play at 1B 2-3 times a week. Heck, I'd suggest the Sox do it, seeing how Salidino can cover. I think it will help his bat. I think there is a good chance he sees more time at 1B this year with Abreu at DH. Especially if Moncada tears up AAA and needs a spot in the infield (if Lawrie/Frazier isn't gone yet, Lawrie plays 3B). I forgot what paper I was reading where the article mentioned the 2B battle being between Lawrie and Saladino. Say if Saladino were to win the starting job at 2B, would they cut Lawrie since they would be on the hook for like 1/4 his salary (similar to when they tendered Viciedo a contract)?
-
QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Feb 28, 2017 -> 12:33 PM) I think any team looking to trade for him has to consider that his time at 3B is limited. Even for just 1 year? It's not like they'd be trading for a guy with a bad contract and 4 years left and over 30.
-
Frazier makes sense for them as an option at 3B or 1B really.
-
QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Feb 28, 2017 -> 11:43 AM) No need for Alvarez since the Sox have plenty of would be DH's already. I'd like see Melky moved to the DH spot. Yeah I wouldn't mind Melky getting most of the at bats plus getting guys like Abreu in there to remain fresh. Then you can see if Avi can at least look capable in LF, Tilson in CF and then I guess Liriano in RF?

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 28, 2017 -> 11:00 AM) Still, if Davidson excites anyone, where is the Leury Garcia love? He's not a power hitter, but can play a lot more postions, is a heck of a lot faster than Davidson and his age and AAA OPS is the same? I give him love as a 25th man but I don't think there will be enough room for him.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 28, 2017 -> 08:49 AM) He fits as a guy who if he performs, might be able to be flipped for a prospect. Or if he is good, a guy who could be a long term DH but that is really reaching. They aren't going to sign him. His skillset will always keep his salary down as his defense will keep teams from ever paying him. I still don't get the Matt Davidson love. At least Avi sucked in the major leagues. Davidson sucked at AAA and people want Avi out of here and Davidson given a chance. Even Davidson's "breakout" last year gave him a OPS .001 lower than Leury Garcia. They are all pretty much the same age. Leury is 8 days older than Davidson, and Avi is about 3 months younger. To be clear, my comment above wasn't giving Davidson any love. Just an idea of why Alvarez could be signed. If Avi is targeted for RF and you assume a combo of Cabrera, Tilson and Bourjos (4th OF) make the roster, it would depend on how Liriano, Davidson and Asche look this spring.

QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Feb 27, 2017 -> 10:47 PM) Did you really get it a day early? I'm surprised they can do this. I pre-ordered The Show 17 so I hope this is true lol had to take advantage of 20% off though I did read 5here was a Groupon for 50% off which I never received an email for.

Lopez and Kopech Starting Tomorrow 2/28
Bob Sacamano replied to 5+6=Perfection's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (kwill @ Feb 28, 2017 -> 01:23 AM) I am actually more interested in Lopez's start than Kopech. For some reason, I am rooting the most for him to succeed as a starter. Could be because he is closer to being ready. -
QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Feb 27, 2017 -> 10:51 PM) https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2017/02/poss...p;post-id=86413 I'm sure Alvarez is going to keep fans in the seats. Think it kinda depends on how many OFs they plan on keeping and if they want to give Asche or Davidson those at bats or not.

QUOTE (kevo880 @ Feb 27, 2017 -> 01:27 PM) Does anyone know how many users can be on one account for MLB.TV? Does is max out at a certain number of people watching games with only 1 log in account? I split it between like 5 people last season.

Teams have upped their offers in Q derby in the last week

QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Feb 27, 2017 -> 08:00 AM) White Sox ace Jose Quintana still in high demand on the trade market https://t.co/YtkkmxbxYQ via @MLBBruceLevine https://t.co/1FcFUUkQqX https://twitter.com/670TheScore/status/836206763317866498 Bruce still at Take everything he says with a grain of salt and proceed cautiously. -
Update: Luis Robert has been cleared according to Rosenthal

QUOTE (Whitesoxa6 @ Feb 25, 2017 -> 01:19 PM) Really hope the White Sox grab this guy. Don't care if we go way over pool if he is as advertised by the scouts Can't go over in new CBA. -
I feel like if they were going to retire Ozzie's number, it would have happened already.
-
QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Feb 23, 2017 -> 08:37 PM) Even if he is on his game I don't expect him to go more than 4 or 5 innings. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Feb 23, 2017 -> 09:48 PM) Hopefully. I have a love hate relationship with the WBC. On one hand I love any sort of international sporting competition, on the other hand, I hate seeing a Sox asset taxed unnecessarily early in the year. It was really cool though being in Sunset Park BK when that Mexican hat took off from the 2009 classic, it was like every dude on the street had on that hat for a few weeks, really showed that MLB can be a "cool" sport. They're capped at like 60 pitches first round.

Robertson to WASH was close, now at stalemate
Bob Sacamano replied to Whisox05's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Feb 24, 2017 -> 12:25 PM) Good points, I'm thinking the same. That would be the best way to maximize the returns for Robertson and Jones. I'd love to get Severino but have no problem with waiting until June/July to trade Robertson. Even if you can't move Jones in the off-season, he will still have great value at 3.5 years if he is traded in 2018. -
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Feb 24, 2017 -> 09:19 AM) Will there be long stretches of time where the main character tries interacting with everything inside a small room in order to unlock something or advance the story? I would assume not haha they turned the games into a book series and they seemed to work. There wasn't really any puzzle solving situations like the games.

Resident Evil Netflix series may be happening based more along the story-lines from the games (not the atrocious movie franchise).
