7/17 Game Thread: @ Anaheim, 2:35pm, WGN
Bob Sacamano replied to Chicago White Sox's topic in 2016 Season in Review
QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Jul 17, 2016 -> 02:59 PM) It's a wasted Sale start when we aren't going to score any runs. You can't win any games getting shutout. Until this team decides to stop putting up goose eggs, he might as well take an extended break. Good point. If we don't score a single run in any of these losses, it would still be a loss with or without Sale. -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 16, 2016 -> 03:02 PM) You need a clause in there. "They've done a good job since date x" or something like that. They did a terrible job trying to build a competitive team last year and now they're stuck with a couple more years of rebuilding because of how terrible that job was. So far they're making reasonable moves in trying to recover from their self-made debacle. That's what I mean . Tried to build a contender (as we tried) but did a good job of changing the direction and have brought in good young talent.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 15, 2016 -> 03:25 PM) Mr. Hindsight who likes to list people who are bad at their jobs and claims he has all the good ideas came up with this one the Braves would certainly not trade Inciarte straight up for Tim Anderson...not to mention the fact we'd suddenly have no SS or C of the future, essentially the two most important positions on the diamond. Remember....the Sox should have signed Desmond after the draft!

QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 15, 2016 -> 11:14 PM) Just tuned in. Man this is discouraging. Back to the Last of Us. Blow this s*** team up. Send them all out I don't care because this isn't working. Haven't scored in 20 innings. f*** this team Last of Us...great game! Played the hell out of it on. Ps3 and just picked it up on ps4 (trying to be done with my ps3). -
QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Jul 16, 2016 -> 01:53 AM) This is one of the better trades that I have seen recently. Preller basically traded a platoon player (in Alonso) for one of top 15 prospects in all of baseball. While San Diego has a long way to go to being respectable, they have injected some serious talent into their system the past 6 months. Agreed. They get a lot of flack but I think they've done a good job. Got more for Kimbrel than what they gave up (because they took on Upton), got draft picks for Kennedy and Justin Upton, could potentially get something for Melvin Upton and Matt Kemp. Plus they've traded some bullpen pieces.

QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Jul 15, 2016 -> 07:32 PM) Ventura said Morneau would face primarily right-handers at the outset, but that of course can change https://twitter.com/scottmerkin/status/754106412439965696 Wtf? Play him until he shows he can't hit lefties.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 15, 2016 -> 06:08 PM) Don't you actually have to be on base to create havoc? Burns doesn't get on base. Yeah I don't get why people would want to make the offense worse.

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 15, 2016 -> 04:48 PM) Source? We'd have to send someone down to make that happen. Kahnle

QUOTE (CB2.0 @ Jul 1, 2016 -> 10:51 PM) Bottom line is whether they're a few under or right at 81 wins...It's not enough. I hate that Shields trade more and more every day. We needed a bat EVERY DAY....NOT A 34 y/o 1 out of 5 who we can argue over...did he go over a "+" inning in a loss? And he's $22M for 2 more f***ing years. Clownshoes. Trading for James Shields is not preventing them from acquiring a bat lol Johnson and Tatis wouldn't be enough to bring in a big enough bat to help this team. -

QUOTE (TRU @ Jul 1, 2016 -> 06:04 PM) Hmm, not sure how that's relevant to what I said at all I think he thinks they're playing in Chicago this weekend so it is relevant to what you said very much. -

Yeah I've gotten to the point where I'd rather Davidson. And I've been anti-Davidson for probably over a year now. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 28, 2016 -> 08:05 PM) Cubs already said they won't do that I think I read they wouldn't do it for Chapman. But 2.5 years of Miller may be enticing especially since Schwarber doesn't really have a position anyway. -
Second ever game thread! Don't stop now boys!

QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jun 27, 2016 -> 04:33 PM) They have Sanchez and Leury in the middle infield. I guess they'll figure out a spot - Charlotte MI has been crowded for most of the last several years, and it works out Peter is a guy they've been playing all over it seems. Maybe he can be our version of Ben Zobrist one day (everyday utility player).

Prospect Reports from Winston-Salem w/ video

QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jun 27, 2016 -> 03:44 PM) I agree with you. And as bad as his O is, it's actually improving (slowly). The thing is, he's going to be a Rule 5 guy soon, isn't he. I realize no one would put him on their roster with his hitting in that shape (although with that elite D, you never know with a rebuilding team); but even if not Rule 5, perhaps one of those minor league free agents. Not sure how that works, although I think it has something to do with progression through minors and years. They'd have to add him to the 40 man. I don't think that necessarily means he needs to be rushed to the next level. But yeah there's also the chance no one even claims him. -
Of course Todd Frazier is hitting under .200
Bob Sacamano replied to Steve9347's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 27, 2016 -> 01:04 PM) How do teams score during interleague games? The changing leagues I don't think is as big as some want to make it. I'm sure there is a bit of adjustment, but it doesn't take 70 points off your batting average and cost you 30 doubles. Exactly. It's overblown. -
QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 24, 2016 -> 07:41 PM) They made some changes to Rizzo and Russell IIRC Yeah they adjusted Rizzo's hands and bat movement since he's gotten there. In San Diego, he batted more open and held his hands a lot higher.

Pile on a few more runs and let him finish it. He has an extra day off next time through rotation.
