  1. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 09:44 PM) Red Sox could've really used one of our starters tonight. Tigers win 9-8. Keep losing Boston rotation.
  2. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 08:36 PM) He's the type of player the White Sox would let go of but the Cardinals would play all over the diamond. And he'd hit like .290 with 15 homers haha
  3. Just going to toss this out there...I LOVE Tyler Saladino. I think he could be a starter on some teams (especially teams with good offenses that could carry him in the 9 spot).
  4. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 08:21 PM) Eh, he's walked a ton of guys this year. I'm worried he could have a steep falloff in the next season or two and I'd rather take a prospect or two for him and call it a day. Same here.
  5. QUOTE (soxforlife05 @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 06:13 PM) If no Moncada and Benintendi I will hate that deal. Me too.
  6. Not sure if this was posted yet but here is something I came across from today: http://www.csnne.com/boston-red-sox/report...ale-trade-talks
  7. QUOTE (ptatc @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 05:29 PM) Agreed but getting a guy that can hit and field at a premium defensive position is really tempting. Yes it is. Also near MLB ready.
  8. QUOTE (TheFutureIsNear @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 05:47 PM) Wait, the White Sox have minor league talent? Unless it's Fulmer I don't see what could we possibly get? Is Spencer Adams and Trey Michalczewski really moving the needle for any team? Without Fulmer and Anderson involved, I don't think they can get anyone. Maybe Jay Bruce but even he may have enough suitors (god imagine Melky being available).
  9. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 04:32 PM) When I heard the deadline was 8/1 instead of 7/31 this year, I requested 8/1 off from work. This was like, 5 months ago. Very happy with that decision I remember last year I had like 246 posts or something crazy like that on Soxtalk on 7/31, most of which were credible tweets that I'd post right when they were tweeted (I have quite the set-up on trade deadline days). Lots of people were thankful, so I think I'll do that again this year. Unfortunately I can't.
  10. QUOTE (hi8is @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 04:25 PM) Yup. I just hope we start hearing specific and credible WS rumors. Monday is going to be crazy it's going to be tough to work. Oh s*** month end close lol
  11. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 04:11 PM) Given the SP market and that Betts/Bradley/Bogaerts are likely off the table, if Sale doesn't net you both Moncada and Benintendi, then we might as well just keep him. There is where I'm at too. Tell Boston to f*** off if they can't do both. I hope they lose and their starters get hammered for the rest of this week.
  12. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 02:49 PM) He'd need to be co-front man with Moncada, or the Red Sox can get bent. Yep
  13. QUOTE (Special K @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 02:12 PM) What does that say about our GM who made that deal that we are desperately trying to unload him because of the money we took on... That being said, if we try to compete next year, I don't mind the idea of a Sale, Q, Rodon, Fulmer, Shields rotation. But it may make sense to hold on to Gonzalez as the 5th if we can trade Shields for something decent. Save money and also probably not going to notice much difference between those 2 over the course of the year (not enough that it's worth the $ we're saving) Definitely listen on both Gonzalez and Shields and trade both or one or the other for the best offer.
  14. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 01:54 PM) Can say @whitesox love @RedSox CF Andrew Benintendi. He could be the front man in a multi-player Chris Sale trade if talks progress. https://twitter.com/philgrogers/status/758012007006277632 They almost drafted him last year if the Red Sox didn't take him the pick right before.
  15. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 01:47 PM) Don't just give him away. Yeah he's been pitching better and thanks to the Padres paying most of his salary, he's actually a cheap option.
  16. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 12:48 PM) There is some trading deadline mega bong hits going on here. Kolek for Gonzalez, now Shields, the guy who at one time should have cost RH his job, and the guy who should have been released no matter how much they owed him, doesn't have a bad contract and could net a decent return. I imagine the Sox will do something, but I think those thinking they are about to delete half their roster and get about 20 prospects with half of them in the top 50 are going to be disappointed. Yeah I just don't really see it personally. Just a few guys maybe.
  17. QUOTE (southside hitman @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 12:43 PM) I know the pitching market is wacky, but I would be floored if the Marlins dealt the #2 overall pick from two years ago for a 32 year-old journeyman. Yeah I don't think we will get Kolek either. We could get something for him though.
  18. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 12:35 PM) It wouldn't be just to trade him. It would be to take advantage of a imbalanced market place on a guy that isn't really in your plans anyway. Honestly, I still expect him to self-destruct at any time. Exactly. If a team wants to offer a solid prospect or two for him, I'd pretty much move him without hesitation.
  19. QUOTE (ChiSoxJon @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 12:15 PM) Be realistic, no one will pay value for Sale and even if someone does, Hahn still wouldn't be set on dealing his ace, Sale may be the greatest Sox pitcher of all time when his career ends...start thinking about returns on D-Rob and Duke, maybe Melky, because that's all the "selling' this franchise will be doing this week Yeah I'm thinking the only moves we see this week involve Robertson, Duke, and Frazier. Maybe Jennings, Melky and one of Gonzalez and Shields.
  20. QUOTE (Dunt @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 12:09 PM) I think you'll be surprised. I think you will be.
  21. QUOTE (Dunt @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 12:05 PM) Why would you trade Gonzalez just to trade him? He has more value to the Sox than a team like the Marlins, especially if they move Sale or Quintana. I think it's more realistic they deal him than Sale or Quintana.
  22. QUOTE (ChiSoxJon @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 11:58 AM) Could definitely see Boston's and LAD's interest grow on Shields, especially if he pitches well today Heck maybe Miami's scouts will stick around today. They had interest in Shields too a couple years ago I believe.
  23. QUOTE (ChiSoxJon @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 11:55 AM) Even though he's pitching well as of late that contract is sickening. If he's movable you have to move him. The return may not be strong (2-3 low level prospects) but his contract is too heavy on a team that already seems to have 4 set starters for next year in Sale, Q, Rodon, and Fulmer (Yes, I believe Sale and Q will remain Sox and they will) The Shields contract isn't bad. At least for us it isn't since technically San Diego is paying for it.
  24. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 10:03 AM) Remember the Sox acquired him via trade from the Rangers, he wasn't released. If he were out of options the Rangers wouldn't have been able to send him down earlier this year nor would the Sox when they traded for him. I think he was on waivers though when we traded for him. I think it's similar when players are claimed on waivers and able to go to the minors with the new team.
