  1. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Nov 9, 2016 -> 12:49 PM) From today's Dave Cameron chat: Interesting, (1) hadn't thought about the QO factor for Frazier, and (2) that Red Sox deal sounds like one I'd gladly take for Sale. I feel like it's one more prospect short. Or another prospect and one of their catchers as a toss-in. Also, I feel like I should post this here as a reference to other Red Sox prospects: http://m.mlb.com/prospects/2016?list=bos
  2. QUOTE (shipps @ Nov 9, 2016 -> 12:13 PM) I will never forget this feeling as long as I live. I can only hope that this is something we look back on one day and say we overreacted and it didnt put our country back too far. Problem is that I am afraid our regression has already happened a while ago but its just come to the forefront now. I'm thinking this is actually how it is going to be. I base this off nothing other than a guess.
  3. QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Nov 9, 2016 -> 10:35 AM) ? Maintaining marriage equality was one of the things she repeated said was important in a SCOTUS justice, along with upholding Roe v Wade and getting rid of Citizens United. http://regated.com/2016/10/hillary-clinton-gay-marriage/ One of her many lies.
  4. QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Nov 9, 2016 -> 08:13 AM) The type of SCOTUS justice he's been hyping up is NOT okay with gay marriage. To be fair, neither is Hillary.
  5. Mine would be: Sale Quintana Eaton Abreu Frazier Nate Jones Robertson Melky Miguel Gonzalez Lawrie Feel obligated to include the next 3 since they get brought up here) Rodon Anderson Fulmer And then I'd trade during the OFFSEASON: Sale: doesn't really need an explanation, just get a haul Miguel Gonzalez: teams could use backend rotation depth Todd Frazier: only one year left Melky Cabrera: only one year left Lawrie: only one year left, don't think his value is going to change much holding onto him Nate Jones: 5 years left, signed cheap, teams are valuing bullpen more than ever before I'd keep.. Quintana: 4 years of control left, signed cheap, can move in July or next off-season, still have to fill out a team, would move if there is another big haul out there after dealing Sale, however. Abreu: unless we get an offer of 3-4 prospects this off-season, I would hold onto him Robertson: injured last season, just had surgery, value is down, deal him in June/July unless a team pays up Eaton: under control for 5 more years, sort of falls into the same boat as Quintana. Rodon: could be at the front of the rotation on the next good team OR if the rebuild is going horribly, hope he develops enough to deal him with a few years of control left (currently 5); his agent is also Scott Boras so throw the idea of a team-friendly deal out the window Anderson: 6 years of control left; isn't going anywhere Fulmer: 6 years of control left; isn't going anywhere If they deal/keep those guys listed above and without accounting for players brought back (hard to pin point who exactly would come back in all those deals): C: Narvaez and Smith: there will likely be an addition here whether through a trade or free agent signing 1B: Abreu: reasoning above 2B: Sanchez/Saladino: if its a rebuild year, it doesn't matter too much; the other serves as a backup infielder 3B: Davidson: why not? SS: Anderson: obvious LF: Coats: again, in a rebuilding year, nothing to lose playing him; someone probably gets signed to platoon or start over or an MLB-ready player is brought back in a trade (I think the latter is most likely) CF: Tilson: see above RF: Eaton: reasoning above DH: Garcia: probably share this spot with a mix of guys; I can totally see a Matt Holiday signing here on a one year deal Bench: C Smith/Narvaez IF: Saladino/Sanchez OF: Liriano for now Util: Garcia: can cover IF and OF and be used for speed off the bench Starting Pitching: 1. Quintana 2. Rodon 3. Shields (leads this team to a top 3 pick!) 4. Fulmer (gets a crack in a big league rotation) 5. ?: Ranaudo, Turner, or minor league signing or a pickup in a trade Bullpen: Robertson Jennings Burdi (called up after 2 weeks, become eventual close when Robertson is dealt) Putnam Petricka Soto (forgetting some guys; figured we could use another lefty) Ynoa/long reliever (Ranaudo, Turner, minor league signing?) EDIT: now I know it won't look like that on opening day, but I was sort of subtracting off the guys I think may get traded and just sort of replacing them with next guy on the depth chart.
  6. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Nov 9, 2016 -> 09:20 AM) I think he's referencing Quintana's contract rather than the trade haul it would take. Yeah that's something else I considered but forgot to type. Thanks.
  7. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Nov 9, 2016 -> 09:10 AM) "Jose Quintana, another 27-year-old White Sox pitcher who would come relatively cheap and is entering the peak of his career" Thought that was odd too. Unless he is saying in comparison to Sale.
  8. QUOTE (iamshack @ Nov 8, 2016 -> 08:18 PM) Yeah, but at this point, I am going off of what Hahn is saying. Yeah those other guys are just guessing off of quotes. Nothing is definite.
  9. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Nov 8, 2016 -> 06:00 PM) I thought that's what I saw. He f***ed his original tweet up so that began the confusion. Yeah fooled me too. Many thanks to hi8is.
  10. QUOTE (hi8is @ Nov 8, 2016 -> 05:49 PM) Incorrect. He said he would expect a Sale / Boston deal to center around AB. https://twitter.com/barstoolwsd/status/796122487914369024 My mistake. I see he corrected it.
  11. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Nov 8, 2016 -> 05:15 PM) I'm very happy they have a direction and aren't playing with themselves while teams execute their off-seasons. I think I saw @whitesoxdave say he thinks the Sale to Boston deal will be centered around Benintendi. He actually said he would be surprised if it was centered around him.
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 8, 2016 -> 04:05 PM) The other side is that you are also giving up on a lot of production as well. Right so I feel like it sort of evens out a bit. And it's also possible the prospects you give up turn into duds however.
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 8, 2016 -> 03:52 PM) Well, he would be WAY cheaper, even with the spectre of arbitration hanging over him. Exactly. Abreu on 3 years and a pretty cheap deal and only giving up 2-3 good prospects seems better overall than signing Encarnacion to a 4-5 year deal, giving up $100-125 mill to a 34 year old (Abreu also has age on his side for the most part) DH/1B, and losing a prospect (draft pick).
  14. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Nov 8, 2016 -> 03:12 PM) Why not? Sale and Quintana, their markets are well documented for potential suitors. Jones is comparable to Ken Giles. Adam Eaton has just come off the best year of his career and their are many good teams out there looking for a good/great cheap 1B (Red Sox, Rangers, Pirates, Astros) Because I'm not certain that about 5 teams are looking to unload 3-5 of their best young players right now. You make the smart move which is not always taking the best trade offer available.
  15. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 8, 2016 -> 03:10 PM) How are we selling high on Abreu again? His value has diminished considerably from midseason 2014. I may be crazy, but giving up 2 or 3 good prospects for 3 years of Abreu sounds better than giving up one prospect (a draft pick) and $125 million to a 34-year old Encarnacion (I guess it depends on if the team is also looking not to spend a lot of cash or not).
  16. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Nov 8, 2016 -> 03:07 PM) If we do sell, Sale, Quintana, Eaton, Jones, Abreu, and Robertson all need to go. Keep Lawrie, Frazier, and Melky and trade them at the deadline unless blown away with an offer. You may not get that many hauls for that first group. 4 if not all 5 would require a lot. It makes sense that one or two are dealt and the others slowly get dealt over next year or two. I would also wait until the deadline to move Robertson so he can recoup some value.
  17. QUOTE (Real @ Nov 8, 2016 -> 02:59 PM) It's hilarious that there are journalists and even posters on this site that actually believe the Sox are gonna blow it up. should know better by this point We'll see after the first move. I don't want to believe or expect anything until I see the first official move and not just speculation and rumors.
  18. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 8, 2016 -> 02:46 PM) Chris Cotillo ‏@ChrisCotillo 4h4 hours ago Blue Jays and Edwin Encarnacion have made at least some progress in talks, source tells SB Nation. @ShiDavidi said Jays are making push. Am I crazy to think that any team with interest in EE should also have similar interest in Abreu?
  19. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 8, 2016 -> 02:43 PM) I tried to tell everyone Ricky pretty much said that to season ticketholders in August. Obviously he just won't sell everyone regardless of the bid. Teams are going to have to meet a price, but if they do, they are rebuilding. I do remember you saying that and I've been wanting to believe it but feel like I can't until I see the first move lol So if they sell, who gets moved? I would assume one of Sale/Quintana for a haul, Miguel Gonzalez (maybe?) to a team in need of back end starter depth, Frazier, and Melky? Robertson and Lawrie as guys who can be moved in the summer?
  20. QUOTE (Dunt @ Nov 7, 2016 -> 03:45 PM) How is Rymer supposed to be with the glove? I could definitely see him starting in LF next season if this is a full rebuild Definitely. Especially if they deal Melky (he can even DH).
  21. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Nov 8, 2016 -> 08:06 AM) Benintendi, Devers, Kopech, Rodriguez, and someone else and I'd likely pull the trigger. If you add Nate Jones in the deal it's even bigger. I think Sale absolutely deserves Moncada in return but they seem hell bent on not giving him up. I'd love to get Moncada as well and start him off in AAA, but I could see their reasoning for wanting to hold onto him. They did invest like $60 mill into him and sacrificed the opportunity to sign big international prospects for 2 years.
  22. QUOTE (JUSTgottaBELIEVE @ Nov 8, 2016 -> 06:49 AM) http://www.csnchicago.com/chicago-white-so...op-priority-red Granted, I believe it is posturing, if it isn't, why the f*** wouldn't you want Chris Sale in your rotation? Lol
  23. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Nov 8, 2016 -> 07:42 AM) I think that Benintendi and Devers is fair. Add SWihart. Plus Kopech and another arm. That probably gets it done. Benintendi, Devers, Kopech, Groome, and a catcher as a throw-in?
  24. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Nov 7, 2016 -> 07:55 PM) There's been talk Devers may be the best of the bunch. I want him in any deal. Moncada, Benintendi, Devers and Rodriguez or Kopech? I have a feeling we only get one of the OF and one of the IF and if any other position players come in the deal, they are farther away. And then 2 of their better young arms.
  25. QUOTE (chw42 @ Nov 7, 2016 -> 05:28 PM) So they think we'll be buyers? Those are 3 moves a rebuilding team can make as well. Good defensive catcher and left handed reliever (we have almost no depth for either) and Beltran fills DH hole. Still have to put a team on the field.
