QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 12:36 PM) Dodgers looking at Archer today. They obviously want a top shelf pitcher. Work out a deal, please. Sox scouts are apparently at that game. Can't figure out why though. Which game?

QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 12:08 PM) Jay Bruce deal going down? Reported yesterday the Reds aren't looking for top prospects for him.

White Sox trade Zach Duke to the STL Cardinals

QUOTE (BamaDoc @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 11:45 AM) You save 7 million and get a guy who can play center and hits lefty. While he has little power, if he is a cardinal he will do everything else the "right" way. Exactly. Don't let anyway change anything about him. -

QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 11:27 AM) I really doubt we'll be trading for a higher caliber replacement Don't think that's what he meant. -
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 11:18 AM) Yeah I agree, I meant to say that it wasn't enough for him Yeah I figured that's what you meant. I was just saying.

QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 11:16 AM) Hahn needs to tell Ventura not to pitch Robertson today. I don't think one appearance is going to matter. -
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 10:59 AM) Frazier, Torres, Sanchez, and one of Severino/Bird for Chris Sale? Lmao Need both Severino and Bird. And Aaron Judge. Edit: and probably Sheffied.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 10:36 AM) Most of the time, these guys with the limited no trade clauses have them in there for financial reasons. They normally have all the big market contenders on their so if they do get traded there they have some leverage in squeezing out more money. This didn't seem the case here. He must really not want any part of Cleveland. I am sure the Tribe could offer him an extension that would make him think summers in Cleveland are the nicest summers . Looks like he used to block a trade unless Cleveland would void his option for next season making him a free agent. Don't know if we're on the list or not, but even if we wanted him, he'd do the same here.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 09:58 AM) Ok, so what does it tell you? I suspect I know, but I'll bite nonetheless... If they trade Robertson soon, thinning the bullpen even more than it is now, I think it means rebuild. Keeping Robertson I think we have potential to retool in the offseason. -
Sox are looking at catchers in Yankees/Red Sox farm systems

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 30, 2016 -> 09:28 PM) Vazquez is indeed a wonderful pitch framer but I feel like Soxtalk will hate him for his hitting Can only really carry him with a good offense. I don't really want him due to the current state of the offense. -

Feel like this move is pretty telling about what direction they want to go in. Especially if they deal Robertson. -
QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 09:16 AM) There has been some action, but it's like an Ebay auction...the real bids come right at the end. 1-3 pm tomorrow will be great. By the way, MLB is stupid to not make the trade deadline at about 8pm...make a primetime TV show out of it...duh! Yeah I get not wanting to make the deadline this afternoon but I think all teams playing day games today (no Sunday night game) and making the deadline like 8pm today would have been better.

QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 08:38 AM) Could the Sox theoretically have the best farm system in baseball in 30 hours if they wanted to? If teams ponied up, yes.
-
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 08:13 AM) Torress, Frazier, Severino, Bird, Sanchez, and Judge for Sale. At the very least, drive up Boston's price.
-
QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 08:01 AM) I don't use WSDave for analysis often. But yeah, the Yankees just rebuilt their farm system with trading two relievers. Wonder if they just became legit contenders for Sale.
-
QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 07:59 AM) Profar is a FA in 2020, Sale 2019. He only has 3 years of control I believe: 17, 18, 19. Edit: if your source is baseball reference and it says 2020, that means offseason of 19/20.
-
QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Jul 30, 2016 -> 05:38 PM) If they're coming to us for Robertson, HOLY f***ING s***BALLS! Not for Robertson. Not by himself anyway.

July 30th Game Thread - White Sox at Twins
Bob Sacamano replied to InTheDriversSeat's topic in 2016 Season in Review
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 30, 2016 -> 03:42 PM) That's an impressive lineup QUOTE (Deadpool @ Jul 30, 2016 -> 03:47 PM) This lineup is the reason you might as well sell this year. Was going to say. I was a little worried we might do good against Cubs and then sweep twins causing possibly no trades but the way they've lost the last 3 and possibly today, I don't think I have to worry. -
Rangers have backed out. Indians looking like favorites.
-
QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Jul 30, 2016 -> 05:09 PM) Do you think the Braves are ready to contend in 2017? No but everything their front office has said makes it sound like they want to by 2017. Expiring bad deals, interest in guys under control through next year only, and no money tied to anyone. Could try to sign guys in free agency as well (Cespedes, Desmond, Reddick) aren't unrealistic).
-
Can the Braves be a dark horse? Have almost no money tied up after this year and acquiring Kemp. Maybe they'll look to add a closer for next season while they are trying to compete?
-
Mets place Reyes on dl. He wasn't exactly doing good anyway. Maybe more motivation to swing a deal for Frazier?

Please Pray & Think of Knightni's Little Boy
Bob Sacamano replied to Chisoxfn's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 30, 2016 -> 07:48 AM) Josiah passed this morning. Thank you for all of your thoughts and prayers. Man so sorry to hear that. This has been on my mind and has shaken me a bit. I can't imagine what that must be like. I wish I could do more for you guys. -
QUOTE (SCCWS @ Jul 30, 2016 -> 11:08 AM) I think Sale will not be moved. Doubt Red Sox will want Robertson or Cabrera. Would want Shields and Duke. Hopefully Hahn doesn't want Owens or Swihart as both have seen their value decline this season. Lots of rumors in Northeast but Boston sports radio this morning seems to indicate Shields or Hellickson are their targets. Maybe Dombrowski has his poker face going. Yeah a lot of lesser options than giving up a ton for Sale and Quintana.
