White Sox Not Willing to Trade with Cubs
QUOTE (Ro Da Don @ Nov 29, 2016 -> 02:43 PM) With their youth, depth, talent, cohesive front office/ownership, the likelihood of that is almost 0. They should at least be competitive and fun to watch from a fans standpoint. We haven't even had that.

White Sox Not Willing to Trade with Cubs
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 29, 2016 -> 02:27 PM) The Cubs have no reason to overpay for Chris Sale. The point is moot. I agree. Maybe they would if they hadn't just won the world series.

2016-17 free agency thread (NON WHITE SOX RELATED)
QUOTE (DirtySox @ Nov 29, 2016 -> 01:56 PM) Jerry Crasnick @jcrasnick Just heard the #Astros are still a potential option for Edwin Encarnacion. Please sign him. Run out of positions for Gurriel to force him to play third to move Bregman.

White Sox Not Willing to Trade with Cubs
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 29, 2016 -> 02:15 PM) Their rotation is getting a bit long in the tooth. Acquiring Chris Sale for mostly prospects improves their chances. If Sale isn't as good as Lackey, the offers people make here make zero sense. BTW the guy doing the MLBTR chat said he would trade Bregman for Sale straight up. He actually said he wouldn't trade him straight up. Edit: wouldn't trade Bregman straight up for Sale, let alone part of a package.

White Sox Not Willing to Trade with Cubs
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Nov 29, 2016 -> 02:13 PM) Bernstein just said he'd be stunned if Rick Hahn thinks this way. He doesn't doubt that it came from someone in the organization though. Talk about cutting your GM's nuts off. Yeah I don't think Hahn would be this close-minded. Jerry on the otherhand....

White Sox Not Willing to Trade with Cubs
QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Nov 29, 2016 -> 02:10 PM) I agree with the idea of not trading superstars across town (but I limit that to superstars, I would happily offer them Robertson/Jones/prospects), but you can't let anyone outside of your org know that. You can't TELL the Cubs you aren't going to deal with them, because it could and obviously did get out, which hurts their leverage. But internally deciding not to make blockbuster deals with the Cubs makes perfectly good sense. Agreed.

White Sox Not Willing to Trade with Cubs
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 29, 2016 -> 02:09 PM) They didn't come out and say it. But it's out there. I doubt any team would be surprised. Probably a good bet the Sox wouldn't trade Sale within the divison either. That said, they woiuld trade him to the Cubs if the offer was ridiculous. Well you know what I meant then.

White Sox Not Willing to Trade with Cubs
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 29, 2016 -> 02:07 PM) It was actually on CSN last night. They actually asked David Haugh about it. He thought it was the right thing to do for the White Sox. His reasoning, if Sale helped the Cubs win, JR would be remembered for handing WS trophy(s) to them. That wouldn't be good. No one here is saying we should trade Sale to the Cubs (other than proposals on what it would take). Just that it is dumb to remove a team from the equation that can actually afford him with their farm.

White Sox Not Willing to Trade with Cubs
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 29, 2016 -> 02:03 PM) If Chris Sale led the Cubs to another title or 2, and the Sox didn't win one any time soon, do you really think Sox fans would be OK with that? They would be ripped in every way imaginable. Columnists who today think it would be dumb for the Sox to not consider trading with the Cubs, would absolutely forget they ever wrote that. Many, many fans would to. Helping the Cubs win doesn't help the White Sox at all. The point is they shouldn't come out and say it even if they intend on never trading him there. Why not use them as leverage? I5 doesn't really have anything to do with what the fans want.

Milwaukee signs Eric Thames
QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Nov 29, 2016 -> 11:55 AM) They have zero chance of passing the cubs, Pirates or Cardinals any time soon and with the cubs success, although they get the 9 sell outs when they play the world series champs this year. Sadly, more than we'll have all season

Milwaukee signs Eric Thames
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Nov 29, 2016 -> 08:30 AM) No wonder they're non-tendering Carter. Good opportunity for playing time. No good team was going to sign him.

White Sox waiting for bigger offers on Sale
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 29, 2016 -> 06:29 AM) Still won't get Benitendi and Moncada together as a package even by including Frazier. The Red Sox still have plenty of options for 3B and DH that are less costly...both internally and in free agency. We should pick the one with the highest ceiling and then build rest of the package around him. Probably Moncada. I'm hoping for a Benintendi and Devers package or a Bregman package.

White Sox waiting for bigger offers on Sale
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 28, 2016 -> 03:56 PM) Yes, but why would any of that hold up a Sale trade? I can see holding off on a guy if there is a question about luxury tax, but he is making Bartolo Colon money. The other stuff, the GMs aren't negotiating, and why it would affect a Sale trade is beyond me. I just think the grand slam offer hasn't been made yet. I don't think the CBA status has anything to o with it. And based on what rabbit said, he agrees.

Winter Meeting Poll
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 28, 2016 -> 10:34 AM) My gut thinks yes, but the CBA hanging over the winter meetings could really screw things up. It expires in a few days so it should be agreed upon by Wednesday.

SOURCE: 2 horse race between Dodgers and Astros
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Nov 27, 2016 -> 11:39 AM) I could see something like Sale and Frazier for McCarthy, Puig, Urias, Bellinger, Verdugo, Calhoun/Lux, and Alvarez. That still leaves Kershaw, Sale, Maeda, Kazmir, Wood, Stirpling, De Leon, Stewart, and Ryu for depth for the Dodgers. Yeah and some of those guys even come off books in next couple of years.

QUOTE (Ro Da Don @ Nov 26, 2016 -> 11:31 PM) Which players are you okay with cutting and getting no value on? You have to remember if guys are taken in rule 5 draft, they would have to stick on the drafting team's MLB roster ALL season. Not sure we have guys towards the end of the 40-man who would get drafted and stick even through spring training. They would be offered back to us.

Dbacks make a decent trade? What is up with the world.

SOURCE: 2 horse race between Dodgers and Astros
Why do some people who want Bregman want to play him at third? He'd be far more valuable at a middle infield position. He just played more 3B than second the last year and a half because of Correa and Altuve.
-
SOURCE: 2 horse race between Dodgers and Astros
Bregman would play 2B if the Sox trade for him.

SOURCE: 2 horse race between Dodgers and Astros
QUOTE (Dunt @ Nov 23, 2016 -> 02:58 PM) If Bregman is on the table, you make that deal. Him and Anderson on the left side of the infield for the next 5 years sounds juicy. Astros make the most sense, they are so damn close to being the top team in the AL. They need that front of the rotation arm though. Anderson and Bregman up the middle. And it would be 6 years. Even better.

SOURCE: 2 horse race between Dodgers and Astros
QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Nov 23, 2016 -> 12:34 PM) Why exactly would we care if Sale is traded to an AL team? Exactly. He would be on the Astros for 3 years. Do people think we will be a good team during that time?
-
SOURCE: 2 horse race between Dodgers and Astros
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 23, 2016 -> 12:26 PM) Between the two teams, I would much rather see Sale traded to the National League. I don't care as long as they get the best package. By the timewe are good again, he will be getting paid as a Dodger.

Anthony Ranaundo signs in Korea
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 23, 2016 -> 12:25 PM) Dan Hayes @CSNHayes 9m9 minutes ago Anthony Ranaudo's departure to Japan leaves the #WhiteSox 40-man roster at 39. Too bad that couldn't happen when we needed to add guys to the 40. Oh well I don't think of them will even be drafted.

I hope you are a credible source lol

Who knows. Maybe Sale goes to the Astros and Dodgers get desperate for Q.
