  1. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 08:42 PM) How do you not guarantee Lucroy the starting catching job? QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 09:07 PM) No friggin clue. Apparently they wanted him to catch, play some 1b, and DH. And he wasn't about that QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 09:14 PM) Indians are f***ing stoopid Pretty sure a report later in the day shot that down actually. Him rejecting the trade was purely about money.
  2. QUOTE (TheFutureIsNear @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 09:27 PM) Wonder if a Robertson/Puig swap would make sense for both teams? Makes taking the risk with Puig's contract easier, and the Dodgers could use Robertson. No idea if either would clear waivers though. Yeah I don't think so. Yankees and Red Sox would definitely place a claim in for Robertson I would think.
  3. QUOTE (Footlongcomiskeydog @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 07:49 PM) Another August and September of meaningless baseball on the South Side of Chicago. Becoming a reoccurring theme under the Hahn/RV regime unfortunately. I think Sale will get shut down around September 1st. No use putting unnecessary innings on an arm that the Sox are gonna need for the 2017 push! I don't see anyway that this Sox team finishes above 500. Way too many division games in the next two months. Another top ten pick is in the best long term interests of this franchise anyway. No you don't shutdown guys. Have to build the his durability if you want him to be able to pitch in October.
  4. QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 08:44 PM) well, seems like they might try to sign a FA in the offseason, so I hope they get a protected pick! Worth noting that one of the better free agents (Reddick) got traded so no QO can be offered.
  5. If we're going to rebuild, buy-low on him. Gotta field a team somehow and hope guys bounceback to be able to trade.
  6. I look forward to the manager search and seeing what direction this team decides to go in in the offseason.
  7. 1. Rodon's development 2. Anderson's development 3. Tilson- see if he can play ball 4. Sale starts This all I'm really paying attention to the rest of the way. May not go to another game.
  8. I kind of expected a starter like Shields or Gonzalez (really thought Marlins would try to make a quick deal after sending Rea back) and Robertson. Now pick a lane for the offseason and stay in it.
  9. They were saying on the Score that Matt Holliday has an option likely to be bought out by the cards after this season. I could totally see us signing him to like a 2 year deal to be the DH.
  10. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 05:43 PM) I'm going to root for the Red Sox to fall apart Me too! Would be comical if Yankees pass them in standings.
  11. Not going to be disappointed until I see what they do this winter.
  12. One can argue the Yankees being mediocre this year hurt the Sox this week.
  13. QUOTE (bighurt574 @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 03:01 PM) Get ready for a few off season tweaks and taking one more run at it in 2017. If they actually found another big bat somewhere, and the old Abreu came back, maybe it works, but otherwise we'll be in this exact same spot a year from now. Castro and Gomez. Book it.
  14. We don't know what they were offered guys. Get off the ledge.
  15. Time to start looking at pieces they can add in the off-season to try and compete next year. Sigh.
  16. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 12:45 PM) They all are aware of the cost. A deal could get done as fast as they can say yes. Kudos to the White Sox for not budging. No one should be mad at the Sox if Quintana and Sale aren't moved.
  17. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 11:24 AM) "We discussed several deals, we were very active, but ultimately, we were not content with the packages we would receive. In all probability, standing pat with our current roster could result in a team that puts up a competitive final two months of the season." -Rick Hahn, later today probably Almost word for word, he will say that.
  18. One thing to consider is Dombrowski wasn't there when Moncada was signed. He wasn't part of the group that invested $63 million into him. He may be just using that excuse as leverage.
  19. There's gotta be a way to work around the fact they paid $63 million for Moncada. Include Robertson or Melky and be willing to eat some cash?
  20. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 10:06 AM) Complication w/Moncada is @RedSox having invested $63 million in bonus and taxes to sign him. Puts him in separate category. https://twitter.com/philgrogers/status/760129399568101376 QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 10:08 AM) You should have listened to me last week. I stated the very same thing. I kind of had a feeling this might be a reason.
  21. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 09:30 AM) Bob Nightengale ‏@BNightengale 2m2 minutes ago The Boston #RedSox had late-night talks with the #WhiteSox about Chris Sale. If Sale is moved, #RedSox and #Dodgers are likely destinations. Come oooooon, Dave. Come ooooooon.
  22. QUOTE (GoGoSox2k2 @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 09:20 AM) whitesoxdave ‏@barstoolWSD 3m3 minutes ago Chicago, IL Just texted my guy. "It's crazy how quiet it's been... I got nothing" Life is awesome being a White Sox fan, said nobody Maybe his contact just isn't leaking him info today.
  23. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 08:28 AM) If someone claimed Shields off waivers, the Sox wouldn't owe him a dime and still would have about $27 million coming into their bank account from SD. They would take that in a heartbeat. Any trade would require the SD money to move along with Shields. They would likely. But I just don't see a team claiming him for the full amount. I think it's more likely he'd clear waivers and then a team would try to make a deal even though teams also have that option today still.
