Robert strikes me as a guy that if he went to the Dodgers, he’d look like an all-star. He looks like a guy totally checked out
  2. After watching the clip in question, where Speigal and Parkins discussed how the story came about and how they confirmed the story, I simply don’t believe they just made it up. Parkins has started getting national sports on Fox, he’s not going to run with this story, when his name is on the show, if there isn’t some confirmation behind it.
  3. This is also accurate. I still wouldn't like him as a broadcaster, but there are plenty of guys I haven't enjoyed listening to before. Replacing a well liked PxP guy is hard enough, doing it during a historically bad season when most of the fan base is fed up with the organization makes it a herculean effort. He hasn't done himself any favors, my advice to him before the season would be to fly under the radar, get your feet under you for a season or two before you really come out of your shell..but he went the other way on that one. Additionally, taking out the whole Score beef...I heard a soundbite from two weeks ago from the Sox broadcast where he was telling Beckham how when they go on the road, the opposing teams broadcasters expect the Sox to come in and just be awful, and by the time the series is over, broadcasters are telling him how surprised they were to see the Sox, how they were in all of these games, they just can't find a way to finish things off. It's comments like that which will get him lambasted, and rightfully so. Don't piss on my leg and tell me it's raining. You think Sox fans believe that? During a historic losing streak? The point is while this was a very hard assignment, he's made a number of unforced errors that have made him very unlikable.
  4. If Schiffren is correct, and his statement that the report The Score ran with isn't true, it shouldn't be a difficult interview. He's with the team everyday. If the facts are on his side, there isn't much to debate. But he's made the choice not to engage with them. Fine..his choice. But it just adds another log onto the fire and the discussion will probably continue, especially since Schriffren continues to want to stir the pot from the broadcast booth.
  5. He doesn't "owe" them anything. It's his choice if he doesn't want to go on those shows. BUT, words have consequences. Schriffen is the one that decided to run with the "for all the haters out there" when the Sox were already 20+ games under .500. It was an ambiguous comment where both stations reached out to him for comment. He declined. Ok...then you're leaving those comments about "all the haters" up for discussion and conjecture, which is exactly what happened. Then things died down. THEN Schriffen decided to jump back in the mud, directly calling out the station, on a White Sox broadcast. The Score should just ignore it? Not discuss it on air? You can't have it both ways. Either ignore each other, or have a discussion. But there isn't a victim here when both parties sling it on their own broadcasts, then won't talk about it with each other.
  6. Oh come on..."poor Schriffen"??
  7. Correct. But we've seen multiple times this season, he seems to like to play in the mud. He's in way over his head, but he's not a total idiot. He knew The Score would react to the comments he decided to make on the air, during a White Sox broadcast. He knows it. And he decided to do it anyway. So he is far from the victim here.
  8. I think that is the main question, and of course we'll never know the answer, which is also true for any other team. Would a different staff be able to keep Eloy-Moncada-Robert on the field more? How big of an impact would Chris Fetter have made on the pitching staff? There is no doubt that there were big issues that would still be true today, whoever the coaching staff was...from a player standpoint and lack of depth in the minor leagues. But I wonder if they make the ALCS or something in 2021, how different does 2022 look like, and so on..
  9. Been thinking about this over the weekend. We all know when they fired Ricky, AJ Hinch seemed to be the favorite. And it absolutely seemed like that was the target for Rick. We know what followed and who was hired. I’m not one to think a manager makes a huge impact, but clearly we see when someone is in way over their head and just not in control of the team/clubhouse. If Tony is never hired, Jerry stays out of things and it’s AJ Hinch running the show in 2021 and beyond…what do we think this team looks like today? I’m not saying AJ Hinch would have just willed them to 40+ more wins, but it seems like Jerry has weirdly had more influence on things as of late. If Hinch is here, do we see a different playoff result in 2021? Are Hahn and Williams still here? Is there a different group of players on the roster?
  10. I agree, but see it slightly differently. I don’t think he enjoys this, but I also don’t think he cares. So in that way, it becomes acceptable. I just see a total lack of interest from the entire organization. Why do even anything remotely more than you have to, other than putting a roster of 26 baseball players together, a coaching staff, and calling it a day. There is no interest in doing anything more than the bare minimum, and it’s sad.
  11. They just lost their 18th straight and are on pace to have the worst winning percentage in the modern era of baseball. Read the room
  12. I’m not even sure what this means? What could have taken place behind closed doors that held anyone accountable?
  13. It doesn't get talked about enough, honestly. They are 27-85, which is incredible to even type...and NO ONE has been fired. Not a hitting coach, not a pitching coach, and certainly not the manager. It's on pace for the worst season of all-time and NO ONE has been held accountable, or a message sent that this isn't acceptable.
  14. I can get on board with this
  15. I truly don't think anyone that is worth anything would take the job. I don't care about the "well there are only 30 jobs out there" argument. These guys aren't total idiots (Pedro may be the exception) and as we will see with Grifol, he'll NEVER get a shot to manage again. Nor should he, but anyone who takes this job is in for a world of hurt the next 2+ years, just like Pedro has gone through...the only candidates you're getting are individuals who only care about the paycheck (and it won't be much) or are totally unqualified for the job (If you Getz what I'm saying)
  16. While this is accurate on July 31st, 2024, I don't believe it will be on July 31st, 2026. They won 101 games last season, won the division and made the playoffs. This season, they are still in 1st place in the AL East, and will almost certainly make the playoffs. At that point, they have matched what the Sox "rebuild" did, and if they win a playoff series, then they already topped it. They also are anchored by two of the best players in the league, which is something the Sox never had. Lastly, when the 2024 MLB Draft took place earlier this month, USA Today and Fan Graphs ranked the O's having the best farm system in baseball. Something the Sox could never boast during their short "window" of contention. They are set up much differently than the Sox were.
  17. Not great, bob
  18. THIS is what makes that statement true? Lol
  19. It just Getz better and better..
  20. Huh? https://x.com/johndenton555/status/1818034898139234523?s=46&t=Nd9oJCYs4TMp8_32NrPiMA
  21. Here is my one question. When Getz and Co. are in a room, before they met the media, and are going over their talking points..what do they believe this route accomplishes? When they make a pros and cons list, what is it in the “pro” column for these Getz comments? I don’t understand
  22. Eloy and Moncada got hurt, WHY DID YOU EXPECT ANYTHING DIFFERENT?!? ?
  23. I said it a few days ago, a somewhat competent team being aware of their situation would try and front load a contract for Crochet, giving him his money now and having the last 2 years of his 5 year contract backloaded so they would have resources available to compete in 2027-2028. But we know that won't happen.
  24. I'm sure the Knights will be thrilled....
