When Schiffrin decided he was going to represent the “South Side” with his calls, and put all the “haters” on blast, that’s fine, but now that’s your brand and who he is. Two days later, he badly mis-pronounced the name of Bill Veeck on the broadcast. It wasn’t a flub, he read the name on the paper and thought it pronounced “Veek” If he didn’t make the haters comment, the Veeck mistake isn’t even mentioned. But when you want to puff out your chest and speak for the “South Side” then you better be genuine. Maybe brushing up on Sox history would be a good start.

For someone that wouldn’t take a million dollars to appear on sports radio, you seem to know an awful lot about what they talk about on a daily basis. Listen often?

1. Then you're an idiot, because going on sports radio for an 8 minute segment, then getting a check for one million dollars seems like fairly sweet deal. 2. I also don't agree with your second point, at least the part about the "media clique" I think it's an absolutely fair question to ask the "voice of the White Sox" what he meant, or who he was referring to when he referred to "the haters." Now, you are correct that he doesn't owe ESPN 1000 or 670 The Score anything. He doesn't. But as we all know, words and actions have consequences. It's the entire free speech argument. If Schriffren decided on tonight's broadcast, he was going to verbally dress down Jerry, saying "I think he's a terrible owner, the fans deserve better, he has been a stain on this city for decades and it's time for him to sell the team..." he wouldn't be thrown in prison, but you bet your ass he'd be looking for a new job tomorrow. Words have consequences, and when your job literally requires a microphone and your words are broadcast to millions of people, there are responsibilities that come with that.

While none of this is a "big deal" and will be forgotten quickly, I don't disagree with the premise of the article at all. The team is currently 6-25 and we know the history of this franchise and the laundry list of gripes we all have about Jerry. Calling anyone "haters" of this franchise is a stretch, for obvious reasons. But fine, whatever...it doesn't become a story if when both radio stations reached out to have Schriffen on the air to talk about the call, he goes on. But instead he decided to run away. That's a horseshit move. You want to puff your chest and respond to the "haters" but when asked to clarify...no thank you? He could have used it as an opportunity to defend the White Sox, or at the very least tell people who he was directing that at, there are a bunch of ways he could have made a potential interview a win for him and create a more personal connection with fans given he has only called about 30 games with the team...but instead he decided to run and hide.

I would not have spent a 4th rounder on a punter. Spending a 4th rounder on a guy that ideally sees the field 2-3 times a game, I would not have made the same decision. That said, I’m thrilled with the draft and the team Poles has assembled, I’m not going to get super worked up about the pick, but I’m also not going to get excited about it like others have.

I think there is a valid argument to not use a 4th round pick on a punter, but age is sort of irrelevant. Guys are punting at age 35, 37 semi regularly. Additionally, if Taylor is as good as the Bears hope, and he punts for them for the next decade at a high level...there are worse picks that could be made.

You know it's very unlikely the combo of Moore-Allen are both playing every game. If Allen misses time, it's DJ Moore then...Tyler Scott? Rome solves a lot of issues, both short term and long term. Now focus on DE/DT, have a weekend.

It seems pretty clear the Bears were locked in on Arlington Heights, but Kevin Warren had no interest in moving the team to the burbs, and wants to stay in the city. He did the exact same thing in Minnesota, and clearly doing the same here. I was looking forward to them moving to the burbs, the city is such a pain in the ass and I can't imagine it will be that much better with the new stadium, but whatever. Just build a winner.

While I don't think I'll ever be in that position, I have to imagine at that level, you have so few people around you that will tell you "how it is" and instead just kiss the ring. Obviously it's on the person (in this case Jerry) to be aware of what is going on in front of him, but I think if you insulate yourself with yes men, your view of things can be significantly altered from what is actually going on

Given that Pedro currently holds a 64-117 record, you would think at some point he says “This isn’t working, I have to take a slightly different approach here” but instead he continues with the same shtick every day. Hey Pedro, maybe take your own advice and flush the script, try something new.
