Time for Poles to get off his ass.
-
NFL has cracked the code on getting basically everything right, and has become a 12 month a year sport.

That was Mel Kiper

To answer the threads question.. My 2024 Priorities are to watch as little of White Sox Baseball as possible.
-
Said it before, but if you have made the determination that you are upgrading at QB by selecting Williams, then trading a worse QB within your division shouldn't be a concern to the Bears

Cousins to ATL

Player A (2023 Season):Success Rate: 49% Yards Per Attempt: 4.6 Yard After Contact per: 3.03 Forced Missed Tackles: 33 PFF Rush Grade: 79 Player B (2023 Season):Success Rate: 40% Yards Per Attempt: 3.9 Yards After Contact per: 2.91 Forced Missed Tackles: 31 PFF Rush Grade: 70 Player A is Khalil Herbert, Player B is Saquon. Saquon does other things and has value, but the point is spending significant dollars on the RB position is DUMB

Yeah, this is too much money https://x.com/adamschefter/status/1767222487270461655?s=46&t=Nd9oJCYs4TMp8_32NrPiMA

At this point, while the Bears are...the Bears, Poles has given me very little reason to doubt him. Literally every indicator out there is pointing to Caleb, and I can't see a scenerio where Poles thinks it's a good idea to have Fields and Caleb both at Training Camp. If they are left without a seat when the QB musical chairs stop, someone will take a flyer on him for a 6th, and hopefully Poles has the stones to just eat it and move on.
-
I still don't like putting money into the RB position, think it's a bad use of resources. But if it doesn't stop them from adding to the OL and DL, fine.
-
Sort of. There will be a game of musical chairs with QB's, but the market for Fields is thin. Here are the realistic suitors: - Falcons: They are 100% going to make a move at QB, but with the heavy Rams influence on their coaching staff now, not sure Fields is the guy for that system. We'll see - Browns: Browns are kind of interesting, but moving off of Watson would be catastrophic for their cap, so not sure it can even be done - Vikings: If Cousins leaves, they might make the most sense, and if you think Fields isn't the guy, trading him in the division shouldn't matter - Raiders: Interesting fit, and are picking 13 so will be out on the first 3/4 QB's. Could see them taking a swing on Russell Wilson - Steelers: Still think they make the most sense but not sure if they are interested in Fields - Titans: Kind of a wild card but if they are in the market for a QB, they should be able to nab a good one at 7 Cousins is going to one of the teams listed above, so you could cross a team off the list already. Let's say he goes back to the Vikings. Titans and Browns are a stretch, so it leaves you ATL, PIT and the Raiders. Wilson probably goes to one of those three teams. So now you are down to two teams realistically. There just isn't a huge market there.

If the Bears have really targeted, say Odunze, I could def. see them trading up to 7 or 8 to get their guy. Will cost a decent amount, but I could see Poles getting aggressive to get what he considers two absolute difference makers in the 1st round. I still think a stud OL at 9 makes sense if they are there, and I've beaten the drum on teams like the Packers and Texans having mediocre WR rooms and the QB's making the talent around them better, but I can get on board with the argument that putting Caleb in the best position and having DJ-Odunze to throw to in Year 1 is pretty attractive.

Might need to cross him off the list https://x.com/schultz_report/status/1763931709681144088?s=46&t=Nd9oJCYs4TMp8_32NrPiMA

Winning solves all, it's really not a complicated solution. Tickets have gotten to a point where "going on a whim" or just to get out of the house isn't an option for most people, it's a bigger event, because of the cost and people plan for it. Even the historical parks like Wrigley and Fenway were not at capacity last year (Boston was a last place team and were 12th in attendance in 2023.) The White Sox were meanwhile were 24th. In 2006, they were 9th and averaged 36,000+ a game. They averaged 21,000 last year. For the White Sox specifically, it's been proven if you put a good product on the field, people will show up. In any other industry or business, that is the common standard. Make a good product = people use and continue to buy said product. Yet in sports, we're expected to continue to support a franchise that serves up a lackluster product on a very consistent basis. But because we're "fans" it's just what is expected. It's totally backwards, yet you still have some here that like to call Sox fans "impatient"

Interesting thing I heard on the radio earlier, as it relates to Fields. The Bears most likely have not handed over any sort of playbook to Fields and most likely won't because of the upcoming decision at the top of the draft. I'm not super familiar with timelines and when QB's get a playbook, especially with a new OC coming in (and an HC that doesn't really touch the offense) but the longer you wait on your decision, the longer the QB goes without the playbook, which seems troubling.
-
I think pretty much all the guys at 1000 have been fairly vocal about taking a QB. But I think they've also been pretty measured about their takes, and I mostly agree with them. Fields hasn't been good enough the last three years. If there is a QB you identify in the draft that you believe is/will be better than Fields...take the QB. If there is an insane offer out there for No. 1, you have to look at it, but I think Waddle-Silvy-Carmen have all been fairly strong in the "Upgrade the QB Spot" if your guy is there. I don't think that is being "half-in" or "half-out" IMO.

The Hawks might suck, but they still do a great game presentation. The Chelios ceremony has been great.

I love the White Sox team this year! I'm excited to be a fan of it.

You insulted “most” of the people here. I insulted you. I’d say your statement was worse. But my all means, hide behind your feelings getting hurt than actually addressing the failures of the White Sox and this franchise that “deserves the benefit of the doubt” -

And if we’re only going off of actual results, which is what you seem to be basing your entire argument around…the clubhouse was a disaster last year, they were fundamentally flawed and there was nearly zero player improvement, the team regressed in almost every way. And you have the balls to call Sox fans “impatient?” They haven’t won a playoff series in 18 years. They play in BY FAR the largest market in the AL Central, yet are the only team in the division that hasn’t won a playoff series in that long. And Sox fans are impatient? Respectfully, get fucked. -
He’s 28, won an MVP and put up a 4.4 bWAR last year. He’s also had two historically bad years at the plate. He comes with risk, as does any player. But as a fan, I’d much rather have my team sign a contract like this than an 7-8 year deal at an 25 million AAV with no opt outs. If he flames out, you have to pay him for two more years. If he’s great, the Cubs have every opportunity to bring him back, possibly during the season. The Cubs wanted Bellinger back. They did that, and removed a lot of risk from a long term deal

f*** the White Sox -
He absolutely is, it seems like he's the closest thing to a sure thing in the last decade, but I keep doing back to what we saw in the playoffs. Patrick Mahomes won the SB with quite frankly a very bad offensive unit around him. Now Mahomes is probably going to go down as the GOAT (Thanks again Pace) but Green Bay, Houston...their WR Rooms are nothing to write home about, but the QB's made them way better. Get the QB.

Man, Arraez, Anderson and Burger as 3/4 of your INF is going to be ROUGH on that pitching staff

I mean objectively this isn't true. Tropicana and the Oakland Coliseum are terrible places.
