I almost wonder if now is the time to approach him regarding an extension. That sounds ridiculous at the moment and it really depends on how severe this injury is, but the Sox might be able to get him to agree to a below market deal given his question marks regarding his health if he's looking for financial security. Even if it is Tommy John, I think he could still be a good #4 or #5 starter heading into the future and extending him would make him fit the window of contention better. Just an idea.

I would prefer Gerrit Cole over Keuchel as well but I just don't see that happening.

If Keuchel is still around after the draft, sign him. Assuming Rodon will be on the shelf for awhile, that would give the Sox a rotation of Keuchel/Lopez/Kopech/Cease/Giolito in 2020.

The problem is that Stroman/Sanchez don't have all that much team control left. I don't think it would make much sense to trade for either of them unless they agreed to sign an extension. The Sox will almost certainly have to trade for a pitcher at some point, but I'd aim for one who is under control for longer. I thought Luis Castillo of the Reds would have been a good fit if they wanted to make a move this past offseason but that ship has definitely sailed.

The Sox were 8-19 on May 1st last year. Seeing a bit of improvement is definitely encouraging.

Omar Vizquel, Andruw Jones, and Manny Ramirez were all on that 2010 team for a brief period of time. Those were the days.
