White Sox are interested in Former Mets SP Griffin Canning
He doesn’t have a history of eating innings though and it’s a significant injury he’s recovering from. Unless they sign him as an upside play and someone really cheap like Patrick Corbin as well.

Signing a pitcher coming off a serious injury, what could possibly go wrong

Robert Thread: Sox talking to Reds, Mets
I hope so. They certainly shouldn’t give him away just for the sake of trading him. Like you said, he’s their best option in CF and I’d like to see what he can do with a clean slate in this new lineup between Colson and Murakami.

Robert Thread: Sox talking to Reds, Mets
I think the Robert situation will play out exactly like last year. They’ll keep him and hope he increases his value at the deadline, and then they will probably still hold onto him because the offers aren’t to their liking. I can’t recall another player whose value is seemingly so different from the White Sox perspective compared to how every other team values them.

Chicago White Sox's Offseason FA Signings Trades Megathread
Curious to see how much money he got compared to Murakami.

White Sox sign Jarred Kelenic, non-roster invite
Given how much Fuller helped Montgomery, I’m interested to see if he can work with magic with Kelenic as well. There’s no risk. If he still sucks, they can just get rid of him.

White Sox win draft lottery, will pick #1 in 2026
Jared Kelley never amounted to anything, but they heavily overslotted him in the 2nd round of that draft if I remember correctly. So it was Crochet, Kelley, and 3 “punt” picks.

White Sox sign Jarred Kelenic, non-roster invite
Honestly, I’m fine with going cheap in the OF for now as long as they add another decent SP and leverage reliever. I think some combination of Benintendi/Baldwin/Pereira/Kelenic can hold it down in the corners for the time being.

Passan: Astros sign Imai
You think Kona Takahashi is a possibility for the Sox?
-
Passan: Astros sign Imai
No doubt, they need to continue adding. I’d take Giolito or Littell as a consolation prize. Or maybe Kona Takahashi.

Passan: Astros sign Imai
That’s definitely a fair perspective. Would have been nice to get him in the building and start building a relationship. Oh well.
-
Passan: Astros sign Imai
If the Sox signed Imai to this contract, they likely would have traded him at the deadline given the opt outs. Accumulating more prospects is fine, but it’s not like this is a straight 3 year deal.
-
Passan: Astros sign Imai
Well no, it’s just that he would’ve entered free agency again next offseason if he’s any good. And if he stinks, the Astros are stuck with him for two more years. Seems like a much more player friendly contract than team friendly.

Passan: Astros sign Imai
As expected, he’s now victory lapping.
-
Passan: Astros sign Imai
Yeah looking at these contract terms, it kind of makes me feel better. He basically would’ve been a 1 year rental here.
-
Passan: Astros sign Imai
So essentially it’s a 1 year deal if he’s any good?

Passan: Astros sign Imai
The Phillies scare me. So do the Braves. We’ll see.

Passan: Astros sign Imai
Getz also said this during the Murakami press conference. So yeah, color me skeptical that someone would not only get info in real time, but be able to share it on social media for everyone to see within minutes.

Passan: Astros sign Imai
That’s what I don’t get. Normally the foodie accounts and these other random “insiders” who throw stuff at the wall just want attention. He doesn’t seem to want that, yet keeps bringing attention to himself by posting. I need to go to bed.
-
Passan: Astros sign Imai
If that was the case, nobody is forcing him to share anything. I just don’t understand his angle. It’s like he wants attention but doesn’t want attention at the same time. Thankfully this Imai stuff will be over soon regardless so I can stop thinking about it.
-
Passan: Astros sign Imai
If he really was that legit, why would the front office be fine with him leaking negotiation updates in real time for the entire world to see? It doesn’t add up.
-
Passan: Astros sign Imai
He’s playing both sides so he can claim he was right regardless of how it plays out. Classic.
-
Passan: Astros sign Imai
It makes no logical sense. I’m hoping the Sox sign Imai for multiple reasons, one of which is to prove that he doesn’t know what he’s talking about.

The Nifty News part stood out to me if they really are a reputable source but maybe I’m looking too deeply into it.
