They’ve DFAed guys during the last year of their contract, Danks and Keuchel come to mind. They also DFAed Leury with 2 years left I believe. But given how much Benintendi is making by White Sox standards, I highly doubt they will DFA him at any point next season.

I hate defending Benintendi, but 2025 was his “best” season with the Sox and it’s not like they have many outfield options (I know he’s terrible in LF, but still). I’d give him one last chance in 2026. If he still sucks next season, cut him before the final year of his contract.

Benintendi for Taijuan Walker would be great, but not sure the Phillies would do that.

I think he’s still on Twitter but I haven’t seen any rumors from him recently. I feel like all the foodie insider accounts have died off recently. Bartolo’s Colonoscopy is the last one standing.

Okamoto does have experience playing OF as well. I’m not sure what the quality of his defense is there, but that is probably the best spot for him on this team. I don’t think they will sign him anyway though, I’m guessing he will be a a Pirate.

Okamoto would be great if they have trades lined up with Vargas/Sosa for pitching. I’m not counting on it though.

Certain matchups against RHP potentially at 3B/DH, but there is so much history/baggage with him that I can’t possibly see them actually bringing him back.

I would be stunned if the Sox paid as much for an unproven pitcher as Imai will likely get. Though to your point, that could no longer be the case if Ishbia is involved.

It’s worth noting that Baldwin was better defensively in CF than any other position he played last year. And I think he would benefit from playing one position consistently as opposed to constantly moving around.

If they do trade Robert, I think Baldwin is the best internal candidate for CF.

Yeah I wouldn’t give 3 years to Bader. 2 maybe and even that might be too much. JJ Bleday could also make sense as a stopgap option.

Sosa could also make sense for them.
