I just don’t understand what they have against him. There must be something going on behind the scenes with him because I feel he is more talented and has more upside than either Fletcher or DeLoach.
Not saying they made the right choices but the rotation wasn’t even the issue this past season. They just couldn’t hit. They could have had a rotation of 5 Randy Johnson’s and still wouldn’t have been good because they can’t hit at all.
Am I the only one who doesn’t hate this?
I thought it felt light too. But Vargas is essentially a top 100 prospect. I would have taken him for Fedde all day long when they initially signed him. Kopech and Pham don’t have a ton of value to me so I guess I can live with two lotto tickets for them. I would have liked another prospect or two but I don’t think like this is as bad as everyone else is saying.
This is basically the same thing the Sox did with ReyLo a few years ago. He wasn’t cutting it as a starter, and then improved a lot out of the bullpen. Hopefully Kopech will be the same way so they can trade him for something.
I’m not even really referring to those guys. I’m more so referring the Tanner Banks, Sammy Peralta, Jesse Scholtens types. No one is going to be that devastated if those guys get claimed.
It’s very easy to navigate right now. The Sox have tons of guys they could cut who would likely clear waivers and in the event that they don’t, it’s not some devastating loss. They should absolutely be using this time to upgrade the 40-man when possible.
No they don’t. A real 40-man crunch implies they would lose someone of significance. This roster is trash and there are at least 10 guys they could cut today and very few people would care.
