  1. I just finished up a draft on ESPN for another dynasty league that I joined this year. This league will allow 7 keepers at the end of the 2016 season. I happened to get the first pick, and I chose Mike Trout. After the draft concluded, a guy in the league offered me Chris Sale and Julio Urias for Trout. According to this leagues scoring, Trout is projected to earn 533 points and Sale is projected to earn 628 points for this upcoming season. Urias isn't expected to pitch at all. So with that being said, do you guys think I should accept that offer? I already have Kluber, King Felix, Cueto, Stroman, Richards, Severino, Nola, etc, and adding Sale would give me the best pitching in the league by far. If you guys wouldn't mind sharing your thoughts, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.
  2. Jacob May reminds me of Ben Revere.
  3. The Sox look good so far.
  4. I'd say it's very unlikely to happen now, but if the Sox fall flat on their faces again this season, I wouldn't be surprised to see Sale moved in the winter of 2016 or early 2017.
  5. So LaRoche has officially retired and can't come back to the team, correct?
  6. Sale is obviously passionate, but he's handled this situation in the worst way possible.
  7. I think the tension between the players and KW has been building for awhile, and this incident was just the straw that broke the camels back.
  8. At this rate, this thread will be bigger than the Cespedes one when it's all said and done.
  9. What a f***ing disaster. If Sale is moved, then you might as well ship off any other player with value as well. All I know is that it puts the organization in a terrible position if their ace (and one of their best players) is completely trashing them to the media.
  10. QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 10:42 AM) This is honestly the 2nd most annoying thing about this. You say you're the main guy and one of the bigger stories about the White Sox in years and not a peep. Unreal. What is he supposed to say? He's going to be ridiculed and criticized like crazy with whatever opinion he might have. He can't win. He's going to be painted as the bad guy no matter what.
  11. I guess I just don't understand Sale's motivation for taking a stand against KW and/or the Sox as an organization because of this debacle. LaRoche might be a good guy and his friend, but Sale has stated numerous times that he would do anything to win. Having LaRoche on the team would only hinder those chances. I guess I'm missing something, but bringing back LaRoche at this point doesn't help Sale or the Sox at all in regards to staying competitive and winning.
  12. Sale is a hothead and says the wrong things most of the time, but he's a damn good teammate if he cares that much about the LaRoche's in this situation.
  13. So is he retiring or not? The ultimate slap in the face would be to have him come back and stink up the joint again.
  14. Are the Sox rumored to be interested in Cashner? I haven't seen anything about him lately.
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 03:25 PM) Yep, Sale is automatically a FA
  16. QUOTE (Condor13 @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 03:21 PM) Just saw that the mlbpa will most likely file a grievance against the sox bc having his son with him was a condition for him to sign with the sox. If the MLBPA wins the grievance case (if it gets filed at all), do the Sox as an organization get punished in any way?
  17. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 03:04 PM) I know you're young and all and haven't experienced it near as much as the older guys, but you really need to get off the "I hope Chris Sale plays his whole career with the White Sox" thing. There is never going to be too many HOF type guys that stay with one team their whole career anymore. If you're counting on it with Sale you're just setting yourself up for disappointment. I was 6 Frank Thomas's rookie year and 21 when the Sox kicked him to the curb. I always had the same thought as you about being devastated by him not playing his whole career with the Sox, but when it happens you realize it's a business and it's really not as hard as you always thought it was going to be. This is a very good post that I agree 100% with. I know baseball is a business and I care much more about the Sox as a team than Sale individually. With that being said, I do admire guys that stay with 1 team their whole career (Jeter, Wright, etc). I know Sale won't be in that group and if it is in the best interests of the Sox as a team to let him walk, then I'd be ok with it. I don't know if it's just because I'm young, but loyalty is important to me. I love seeing guys in any sport play with 1 team their entire career.
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 03:11 PM) This was posted 14 hours ago, but thought it was interesting that LaRoche's meat company retweeted it: Desmond Howard ‏@DesmondHoward 14h14 hours ago Hmmmm, I'm thinking that Adam LaRoche will have a very short "retirement". I HIGHLY doubt he'll "unretire" now. He's not a moron. He has to know all the hoopla surrounding this incident and I can't see him going back into the Sox clubhouse again.
  19. QUOTE (skooch @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 03:03 PM) On the bright side ... MLB WAR Leaders: 1. LaRoche, Drake (CWS) +1.4 2. Trout, Mike (LAA) 0.0 2. Harper, Bruce (WAS) 0.0 2. Cabrera, Miguel (DET) 0.0 2. Donaldson, Josh (TOR) 0.0
  20. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 01:57 PM) So the Jimmy Rollins signing was genius. He got LaRoche off the team and saved the White Sox $13 million. You win the internet for today. Bravo.
  21. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 02:58 PM) You really think what's happened the last couple days has any bearing on whether Sale will re-sign 4.5 years from now? Come on. Who knows. If Sale hates KW and vice versa, I don't see them agreeing on another deal in future. Just my opinion.
  22. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 02:55 PM) I am not too worried about that. If he stays healthy his price tag will probably be $35-40 million a year at that point, and he probably will already have peaked. That's true. I just want him to be on the Sox for his entire career and it sucks knowing that he'll go elsewhere in a few years. I'll still root for him either way, but it won't be the same when he's on another team.
  23. Well, the slim chance of Sale coming back to the Sox after his contract is up has officially bit the dust.
  24. QUOTE (SoCalSox @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 12:24 PM) I'm also legitimately concerned moving forward that this will hurt the Sox's FA pull. Can't imagine many players want to be a part of something like this. The Sox don't sign top free agents anyway, and the lower tier guys would come here if the Sox promised them $$$.
  25. If this debacle ruins the season, then the Sox were never doing anything this year anyway IMO.
