Wouldn’t the whole point of trading Hendriks be to shed money? Don’t think they would save much if any money if they did all these moves.

That was after the season already started and they gave him a couple months to try to figure it out. Wouldn’t be the same scenario as DFAing Grandal now.

It is very hard to imagine them just eating $18 million unless they can find a taker for him.

The Sox have to pay Grandal in 2023 regardless. Why use your biggest trade chip to get another catcher when there is still a big hole at 2B? Like I said, I’m not even a big Gleyber guy but turning Hendriks into Jansen would be disappointing considering the Sox already have Grandal and 2 backup options there.

I’m sure. If he mentioned this Benintendi stuff a couple days ago I would be impressed but this is very foodie-like.

Ok maybe mediocre is harsh in Jansen’s case, but I would still want someone better than him if Hendriks is being shipped away.

a smart organization would trade TA for a haul and then replace him with Correa or at least Swanson, but we all know that’s not happening here.

Diego Cartaya is probably the guy you want as the centerpiece as far as the Dodgers go. He’s blocked by Will Smith anyway.

They would have had home field advantage in that series and maybe not even have to face the Astros in that series at all if they had a good manager.

Need way more than that if you’re giving up both Anderson and Hendriks.

They have done a lot of stupid things so it honestly wouldn’t be that surprising. I love TA, but looking at the contracts these shortstops are getting, there is zero chance he will get that money here unless Jerry Reinsdorf is no longer on this Earth. So trading him for a haul now and reloading might not be the worst idea.

TA liked a tweet insinuating that he’s going to leave the Sox at some point. But it’s worth mentioning that he did unlike it.
