Word on the street is that they are planning on signing Brandon Nimmo’s brother in law and best friend.It would never happen but imagine if they traded TA for a haul and then signed one of the free agent SS to replace him. Must be nice to root for a team that actually would make moves like that.Andrew Benintendi is another guy who I think might be an option. Left handed, is familiar with the division, shouldn’t be too costly, etc. And the Sox have liked him in the past. Pretty sure he would’ve been the pick in that draft in Boston didn’t take him ahead of the Sox.Fair. But if the Sox were to trade for him and not extend him, they would pretty have to accept the fact that they would be really bad for a long time after he leaves because they gave up so much young talent to get him in the first place.Thing is that it makes no sense to give up all that talent just for 2.5 years of Soto’s services. No smart team is going to decimate their system for 2.5 years of him. They will sign him to an extension and have a generational talent like him in the middle of the lineup for the next 10+ years minimum. The Sox just do not operate like that.Why is this thread 10 pages? There is literally zero chance the Sox would ever trade for Soto in the first place, let alone give him 500 million dollars. Only way this would ever become even a possibility is if Jerry no longer owns the team.Where does Schultz slot into the Sox top 10 prospect rankings?
