On the most basic level I like watching the games because I get enjoyment out of it, but this team just isn’t good enough to win the whole thing and that was supposed to be the goal this season.

Worst part is that they had a chance to redeem themselves this offseason yet they managed to find a way to fuck that up too.

I’m not even that excited for the season anymore. The Sox aren’t on the same level as the top tier teams and this was supposed to be the year where they were on that level. Feel like we sat through all those rebuilding years just to get knocked out in the ALDS year after year.

So they spent the budget on a couple relievers and a few shitty utility players. Great use of resources right there.

Phillies and Padres maybe?

If the Sox get Conforto I’m fine with them sending Sheets away for pitching. I like the guy but it’s worth moving him if he can net a solid arm.

Jerry himself said 2nd place is all he really cares about. This franchise will never reach their true potential until an ownership change happens.

This would’ve been a much better signing than Harrison.

If this team really is done spending, they are straight up lying con-men.

Ultimately if they address RF and SP in a substantial manner then I won’t care about Harrison all that much. But as of now this offseason looks rough. Spent all that money and the team still isn’t any better than they were last year.

That’s a low bar to clear. Don’t think a marginal upgrade at best is worth like $4 million or whatever they are paying Harrison.

He doesn’t make the team any better. That’s the problem. I wouldn’t be surprised if he gets DFAed at some point like Eaton did. It’s just a waste of money.

This team is horrible at allocating resources.

I see you’re conveniently leaving out the period of time where he was arguably the best reliever in baseball.

If anyone is looking for a glass half full point of view, the fact that the Sox haven’t publicly been linked to anyone recently might actually be good news as most of the Sox significant additions come out of nowhere. When the Sox are heavily rumored to be interested in a player, they typically don’t end up getting that guy.

Kiss any chance of keeping Vaughn past his initial contract goodbye if they do that. He would probably be pissed if he started at AAA.

I’m starting to think about this too. Which teams are even rumored to want an outfielder at this point? Sox, Rockies, Phillies? Maybe the Mets and Marlins? Doesn’t seem like a ton of competition. If the Sox don’t get one of the big 3 outfielders I will be very mad.

Every offseason the Sox spend at least $10 million on reclamation projects and scrubs that will be DFAed in June instead of using that money towards an impact player. It drives me nuts.

This has been an awful offseason for the Sox so far. Don’t have any faith that they will make a good move at this point.

It’s sad how much of a yes man Stone has become. He used to provide insightful analysis, all he does now is protect Jerry’s checkbook.

It doesn’t if they would just meet Conforto’s demands. Rodon is a Boras client and he signed quick because the Giants made a fair offer.

No, there was hardly any chatter before the Sox signed Grandal and Keuchel signings. I remember being really excited when I saw those tweets because those moves came out of nowhere. There were rumors linking the Sox to Hendriks though before he signed here.
