I don’t understand the waiting into the season to trade Kimbrel angle. If he’s pitching well enough at that point to warrant a decent return, wouldn’t the Sox just be better off keeping him?

Sheets and more for Manaea, then Kimbrel and maybe a prospect/$ for Meadows. Boom.

I like Sheets but he’s kind of redundant in terms of where he can play defensively. He probably should be a DH and the Sox already have a number of guys who fit into that same category. If you can use him to get Manaea, I think you have to do it. Another solid pitcher is more important to this team than a lefty bat IMO.

Moncada and Grandal exist.

Sheets should not be untouchable.

Just playing devils advocate here. I’d rather take my chances with Kimbrel than have Jerry keep that money.

I’m not convinced he’s always going to suck as a set up man. Last year was a different set of circumstances. He knows his role this year from the get go (assuming he stays here), that could benefit him.

I’m starting to lean more and more in favor of keeping Kimbrel because we all know that the Sox wouldn’t use that freed up money on anyone good if they would even spend that money at all.
