In regards to the Sox, if they were trying to contend and had limited 40-man space to work with, leaving him off would make more sense given the injury. They aren't trying to contend and have plenty of 40 man spots to play with, so losing a young valuable arm for nothing would just be negligence IMO. Admittedly I'm a fan of his and would hate to see him go elsewhere.

You're correct. Time (at least 90 days) needs to be spent on the active roster in order for that team to gain control of said player sans R5 selection rules.

He'd be more appealing IMO because he could spend a good chunk of time on the 60-day IL to free up that 40-man space until he's ready.

Schultz is R5 eligible next year. Colson was 19 when he was drafted, Noah was 18.

I believe that Brooks Boyer mentioned in some sort of meeting with the media recently that the next 12-18 months are crucial in regards to the (next) stadium. So while all is quiet now, they'll have to step on the gas soon because the clock is ticking. If there's no legitimate news by this time next year I could see extending the lease for a year or two being likely.

Pipeline just released their top 50, Graterol checks in at 31, Romero isn't on the list. I get why they don't do it, but it irks me when they don't mention who the players are signing with.

My point is that I wouldn't deem him qualified for the position in the first place, but the Sox have (allegedly) hitched their wagon to him for another year.

Benetti had experience calling baseball games for the Windy City Thunderbolts, the Salem Avalanche (HOU Single-A affiliate in '06), and Syracuse Chiefs in addition to other gigs in various sports before landing the Sox job. He was far more experienced in calling baseball than Schriffdog.

I worded my response a bit wonky there. I'm not sure if he has a year left and the change would be effective for the 2027 season or after, but maybe it's just them riding out the contract and before doing their due diligence heading into the next search. The sooner the better IMO given how poorly the broadcast ranks, I would like to imagine that they aren't complacent or proud of that.

Maybe he has a year left on his contract and they figure to make a change after 2027, otherwise this is par for the course of White Sox brass willing to accept sub-mediocrity because it's already in place.

Link Agreed, the 78 being in a much closer proximity to downtown as well as the sizable difference in public transportation ridership in the area alone could theoretically boost the casual attendee. They'll have their work cut out for them if they want to get into the 78, mainly who's paying for it and clearing it with the Plan Commission.

You left out the next sentence, but the following few seem to be important as well. TL:DR, they still seem to not be ruling it out as of now.

I believe that apartments and such were always part of the original plan. The lot is still big enough to hold two stadiums and as of now the site hasn't been ruled out for a Sox stadium. They've been mum on it since a few months ago when they mentioned that they were still considering the site after the Fire announced their plans. I believe that the Fire plan to have the stadium opened in 2028, so they need to get going on construction and all that jazz.
