  5. QUOTE (greg775 @ Feb 22, 2018 -> 11:58 PM) Guys, everything printed says Machado loves NY and will be a Yankee. I think you should forget about him. Hence Moustakas. Sox can get him for 4 years 60 million I bet. 15 million a year. Why not? We might improve a lot even this year cause Davidson could move to DH with Mous at 3B. Our infield actually would be very good as long as Mous is in shape. Before advanced stats went crazy, most folks would suggest Mous had a great great season last year. He has WS experience. I don't see the harm. I won't be doing handstands if we sign him but again, why not? Machado is not coming to the White Sox, geez. There's been no hint of that. If it's all over print why even bother to try? That's a bad mindset to have. The Sox shouldn't "settle" for Mous now before even making an attempt/effort at one of the big guys in the coming off-season(s). That falls in line with the old way of thinking. Let the young guys play this year, see how they progress, evaluate where it's looking like we'll be weak, and move forward. Mous would be an improvement at 3B right now no doubt. I just don't understand the mindset of turning down the opportunity to sign a potential difference-making all around talent for a guy, while still better than average, just is nowhere near the level of a Machado/Arenado, even Donaldson on the back 9 of his career. Remain patient, let it play out with what we have this season. No need to rush into something, especially considering the draft implications it would have. It'd be different if the Sox were picking in the 20s of every round this year. As we all know, that's not the case. Bowing out of a mid low to mid 40s pick wouldn't be very smart. It's still important to build as much high quality talent & depth as we can at this point so when the time is right that depth can be used to fill necessary holes. Patience you must have, my young Padawan!
  6. Buster Olney‏Verified account @Buster_ESPN More The Astros’ Forrest Whitley, one of baseball’s best pitching prospects, has been suspended 50 games without pay for a violation of the minor-league drug program. Not exactly MLB news, but noteworthy nonetheless.

  12. QUOTE (balfanman @ Feb 18, 2018 -> 02:48 PM) I can’t link the article from the tribune for some reason, if someone can it would be appreciated. I’m excited for the rebuild, but there is an article there where Yoan Moncada is quoted as saying that he’s excited knowing that the second base job is his. Maybe he was taken the wrong way, but this bothers me. He’s a talented, exciting young prospect, but it is not like he is a perennial all star and mvp candidate at this point in his career. I hope he does that in his career, but at this point he should have to earn it. Yes, he is the most likely winner there, but if he has a horrible spring, and someone else, say Yolmer Sanchez for example, tears the cover off the ball along with his sparkling defense this spring, Moncada should not just be handed the job. I just don’t like the attitude. JMHO. It'd be hard for Yolmer to cover both 2nd and 3rd at the same time.
  13. Jon Heyman @JonHeyman avisail will be paid the 6.7M he proposed rather than the 5.85M proposed by the team

  18. QUOTE (JPR @ Feb 10, 2018 -> 06:43 PM) Couple means 2, there is absolutely nothing but a minimal chance the Cubs win it. They have holes in the pen still. The playoffs, and 2005, prove that pitching wins and I'm not seeing any Mark Buehrle's on the Cubs' staff. They're not catching lightning in a bottle, again, anytime soon. In my opinion, if the Cubs don't win the NL crown this season then stick a fork in them. They'll just continue to score 10 runs a game while giving up 11. Losing Wade Davis has more impact on that squad than gaining a 33 year old SP. Davis is lights out as a closer while Darvish could even succeed as a #3 starting pitcher in LA. The Cubs are a very good team and signing Yu definitely makes them better. In the NL they're a top 3 team right now, being ignorant to them being good is a bold stance.
  19. QUOTE (WBWSF @ Feb 10, 2018 -> 03:28 PM) I hate the Cubs but I must admit that it must be nice being one one of their fans now. It has to feel good to have a ownership that wants to win now. You lost me here, but you're dedicated to the craft.
  20. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Feb 9, 2018 -> 04:10 PM) Joe Brand who has been the Kane County Cougars PBP guy since 2014 has been added to WGN Weekend Sports lineup as well as former Cubs and Padres broadcaster Andy Masur. I wonder if either of these two guys will be part of White Sox baseball? It would be ideal in my opinion. Have one of them become the PBP guy next to Farmer or DJ as the analyst. The other can be the Pre/Post Game host. I'd love for them to find a young PBP guy for radio broadcast. I used to work with Joe at the Windy City Thunderbolts. He's a very nice dude and I'm glad to see he's doing really well in the business. He was very good then for being a "rookie" broadcaster, and could clean the hell out of a deep fryer as well lol.
  21. Blue Jays sign Jake Petricka Link
  22. Mark Feinsand @Feinsand 3m Yolmer Sanchez won his arbitration case against the White Sox, per source. He'll make $2.35 million. The White Sox had countered with $2.1 million.
  23. Bruce Levine @MLBBruceLevine 42s Hearing the Chicago White Sox and WGN radio are close on signing a radio rights deal for 2018 and beyond .
  24. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Feb 6, 2018 -> 07:38 PM) What I learned today: 29 is over the hill Hall of fame voters use war now so all other stats are meaningless. The statniks have won Statnik takeover 2018, can't stop won't stop!
  25. QUOTE (greg775 @ Feb 6, 2018 -> 05:20 PM) Do you agree with me that because of this, careers are going to be shorter in the future and good luck compiling Hall of Fame numbers if you are a ballplayer? Do you at least agree with my premise that it's going to be VERY HARD or at least much harder for players to put up Hall of Fame numbers in the future with a changing mindset regarding age? Rabbithole time!
