No doubt it was far worse. There was no debate about whether he should be play or not. I still don't like seeing Robert swing with one arm and hand.
-
Probably hasn't. This whole situation makes me nervous. I remember Carlos Quentin hurting his wrist, sitting out September and not ever being the same again. Robert is too valuable to be messed with.

That's a White Sox "Keep The Dream Alive" Winner !

One advantage the Sox have going into the Cleveland series is that over the next four days, they play three while Cleveland plays 5. That had to be one reason the Guardians threw a minor league pitcher to the dogs today. -
The offense went on a little rampage and things looked better. But against the Rockies, they scored a total of four runs in two games and again showed the inability to get hits with runners on. And they also got shut out in Seattle. Somehow, I don't think much will change. Don't assume a sweep in Detroit regardless of what happens in Cleveland.
-
I don't know the exact nature of the injury, but the handling of Robert is crazy. He can't swing the bat, and he is one of the team's most important players. Yes, winning the division is important, but there are more important things. Like seeing that Robert doesn't do any more injury to this hand. His development is a lot more important than winning this horse-bleep division.

As I wrote in another post, it is amazing how history has repeated itself with LaRussa. Back in 1986, most fans who had no love for LaRussa, felt for him as he was left twisting in the wind. But that is what you get when you hire an old buddy and can't bring yourself to fire him. It would be insane for LaRussa to come back now. The White Sox should tell him he is done for this season and will not be returning in the next. End this now.

9/13 vs. Rockies 710CT - Kopech v. Kuhl: A New Streak Starts

One thing the Sox must not do is look past Colorado and Detroit to look forward to Cleveland. They should beat those two teams, but that is something they have to do on the field. -
It is better health wise for LaRussa to not return. Baseball wise it is also good that he doesn't return. The team still shows its flaws, but is winning, and it doesn't need the LaRussa distraction. It also gives the Sox FO an out not to bring him back in 2023. The hiring shouldn't have happened, and now the situation is correcting itself.

Good thing they had that comeback on Friday night. Splitting against the A's wouldn't look so good.
-
The road trip is already a success, but the Sox should sweep the pitiful A's. Even the Rockies will provide stiffer competition.
-
Are the A's even a real baseball team?

That's a White Sox 5 run 9th Winner !!

The most dramatic and biggest win in over a decade. If this is not a turning point, then this team wasn't meant to win anything. That was a game the Sox should have lost. Good teams win such games. And A's were not laying down. Their second baseman took two hits away from the Sox, and that throw to the plate was right on the money. -
If they truly don't want him back, fire him. Do the right thing and just fire him.
-
At this point, the Sox don't have to scoreboard watch. Just take care of their own business. It will be interesting to see if their offense has really rebounded.
-
I agree, but this is just another situation that confirms already held beliefs. But this is truly an example of short-sighted thinking. JR felt bad over the 1986 firing. But managers, even excellent ones, get fired. So, he set himself for another case where he wouldn't or couldn't fire a friend even if it is warranted. When can we expect another short-sighted decision?
-
It's amazing. In 1986, the LaRussa firing was a real soap opera as Hawk openly recruited people with Tony still in the dugout. Now this, over 35 years later. It gives me little confidence in this organization. Of course, this never would have happened if they put more effort into replacing Renteria.

White Sox wait five full months to finally "play for each other"
Highland replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I have nothing against enthusiasm and optimism or "playing for each other." But the fact remains, we are early into September, and the team is still at .500. There are still more hills to climb. -
In real life, the "Gipper" was a jerk, liked by few.
-
Anyone who is in the dugout now should not be there in 2023.

9/4 GT: Sox v. Twinkies - Holy Sh*t Boys, We’re onto Something

Of course, they're back in the thick. That's what a lousy division does for you. -

They looked flat and Vaughn doesn't belong in the outfield. Slow with no range. And Lopez should have pitched the 8th. The team generated some excitement but now they're right back to .500. -
AND THAT'S A DYLAN CEASE ALMOST NO HITTER WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
Highland replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Best game of the year by far for so many reasons. We will see during the next week if we can really believe in this team. Regardless, the division is there for the taking. The Twins and Guardians are short-handed. Even the Twins manager gave up by the middle of the game. -
Seattle, Sox two easiest remaining schedule of all contenders
Highland replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
The Sox are on another streak, but they've done this before only to slide back again. I won't believe that much until they do this for a couple of weeks. This division is as bad as it was in the early to mid 1980s. If the Sox are really any good, they should prove it and take this horse s%*# division going away. -
And that’s the craziest Winner of the year!

Good call to bring Hendricks in the ninth. There was no use waiting until extra innings to use him. This was playing to win, not hope for the best.
