  1. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jul 21, 2017 -> 06:54 AM) Is it a slamdunk that Shields, who is signed for next year, is gone? Totally thought this was his last year...wow. What a horrible trade that was loo.
  2. So, short-term thinking, what does the rotation realistically look like for 2018? You'd have to think Giolito is going to get his shot at his first full major league stint, regardless how bad he is at AAA this season. Lopez is probably there. Rodon obviously. Who else? I dont think Dunning will be up at the start of the season. Shields and Holland will be gone, (thank goodness), so who mans the other 2 spots? Another couple rentals?? Or are we trying our luck with Holmberg again?
  3. As far as Moncada's numbers go, I remember Paul Konerko saying if you have 3 good months and 3 below-average to average months in a season, you are a very productive baseball player. Not worried about Moncada at all. He will go through some growing pains, and people on this site will have heart attacks and say the Sale trade was the worst thing ever and Hahn will become enemy number one, but we shouldn't worry about him one bit. He will come into his own. Takes maturation and experience. I believe he will do wonderful things, especially with Jose Abreu mentoring him.
  4. QUOTE (iWin4Ron @ Jul 18, 2017 -> 09:05 PM) But what are people thinking of Anderson at this point? Is he doing well? If he having some degression? Talk to me like I haven't watched baseball in 2+ years... because that's kinda where I'm at. All I'm looking at is his internet hype/stats. Well he has sucked defensively with over 20 errors so far and his hitting hasn't been great. Needs to learn plate discipline but still young, judging from what I've seen from Avi Garcia this year, anything is possible once maturation and self realization takes place.
  5. This is so epic lol. Let's goooooooooo!!!! Stock that farm!!! I just love that Hahn is probably pinning Boston and NY off each other.
  6. Anderson is the future shortstop of this team.
  7. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 18, 2017 -> 01:19 PM) Moncada ejected, stealing 2nd. Why was he ejected? Arguing the call?
  8. QUOTE (hi8is @ Jul 18, 2017 -> 08:36 PM) URGGGGGG!!! This wait is going to suck - I live in LA county so I can't even watch the damned game... good ol' Time Warner dodgers tv deal ? If you have access to streaming, just Google Reddit MLB streams, click on the website link, and then click on the Sox/Dodgers link. That will bring you to various streams. Most have ads, but they are harmless (I've never gotten a virus or bug or anything like that). Some streams better than others. Living in Michigan, I can't use MLB.TV when they play Detroit, so I use the Reddit option. Works for me.
  9. Frazier is the one scratched. He probably got traded. Gonna miss is energy and clubhouse leadership...but it had to be done. On the other hand...does this mean Moncada will be called up?
  10. So, we now have technically 3 rebuilding teams in the AL Central (I consider Twins still rebuilding), with Cleveland being a mediocre 1st place team and KC...not really sure what to think of them...not that they are good. This division could really suck it up for the next few years...and it also could be the most dominant one for the following 5-10 years. Should be interesting to see how Detroit decides to rebuild their system, as the Sox now have some competition in the rebuilding department.
  11. Kershaw night...uh oh. Well maybe they suprise!!
  12. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Jul 17, 2017 -> 03:10 PM) one of baseball's biggest rivalries? Maybe among a certain subset of meatball fans on both sides. Seriously, the Cubs aren't even in the the f***ing AL. At best you play them a couple times every year and then in the WS. And the article you linked is just classic "well I gotta write something with a narrative arc" filler. Personally I'm thrilled for Q. I'm happy he's finally going to get more attention, and perhaps some wins as well. I couldn't give a f*** less about how he helps the Cubs. The Sox just got perhaps the best pure hitting prospect in MLB back and a guy that throws 101 and it projects as his 2nd best pitch for him. We got as well as we gave. I understand that LIVING in Chicago might make it SEEM like the Cubs and Sox are big rivals but they aren't, not in any sense on the field anyways. I respectfully disagree, sort of. It's hard to call another team a rival when they only play each other 4 games a year. (Used to be 6 on the weekends, which I liked better, but whatever). You're right, they aren't big rivals, when they both suck or when one sucks (which is usually the case). BUT, when both teams are good (which is almost never the case), I feel like the playoff atmosphere is kicked into high gear, and both teams defninitely play for more than just the win. I feel like if in a few years, the Cubs are still who they are today, and if the Sox are dominating like they are supposed to, then the rivalry will be re-ignited again. It will be very fun to watch.
  13. QUOTE (BamaDoc @ Jul 16, 2017 -> 04:36 PM) 7ip 3h 0r 0w 12 k's Jose Quintana will no longer be the underrated pitcher he was with the Sox. I wish it was with a different team, but I am very glad that the man will finally get the credit and recognition that he deserves, let alone run support. Couldn't happen to a better guy.
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 15, 2017 -> 09:39 PM) Always thought rule was two bases from where you are at when ball is thrown (and goes into stands) I thought the same thing too...maybe it's just on balls batted into play and the fielder throws it in the stands??
  15. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 15, 2017 -> 09:38 PM) Is it just me or has Renteria been ejected a lot? Yeah, I wonder what he is saying to get himself ejected...not like that was a high leverage situation.
  16. Is Saladino the longest current tenured Sox player now?
  17. Frazier bases loaded no one out twice, both times he stinks it up. It's like God is giving him opportunities to up that Boston trade value
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 15, 2017 -> 09:09 PM) That was clearly intentional to Abreu I dont think it was.
  19. Red Sox current 3B with the error...
  20. So my question is, who fills in for the 25th man? fact, the white sox website only shows 23 players on the active roster. Who fills in for Quintana and Willy Garcia?
  21. Just omg wow. This definitely bitter sweet, more sweet than bitter, but out of losing Sale, Eaton and Q, I would say Q is definitely the hardest to let go for me. Going to be SO weird seeing Q pitch against the Sox, and can you imagine what it must be like for him to pitch against us after being traded just a few weeks prior? And if it is at Sox Park...it's gonna be soo weirddd.
  22. Dann it! Lol. I'm going to the game on Friday, my last of the season, and the other one I went to Holland started (lost 10-4). Was really hoping for Q to be friday, but I guess I'll have to live with Jimmy Shields. I guess they really are trying to not have Q pitch the 31st or 30th...are they close to making a deal???
  23. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 10, 2017 -> 08:39 AM) Corresponding roster move coming after the All Star break. Who takes his place? Saladino? I don't think Leury has started his rehab assignment yet. Probs Dino. Hoping YoMon as I'm going to the game Friday. Would be awesome to see him play his first game in a Sox uniform. Doubt it will happen though.
