Dodgers sign Bauer (3/102, opt-outs, 40-45-17)
It would be nice if we could take advantage of this market. Such a shame.

The Bulls do very well and he is still cheap there too. Even managed to piss off Jordan who won him six rings.

$15m and two moves to finish the roster
The correct answer is the one above where we steal Musgrove for nothing and sign LaStella and Flowers.

Garrett Richards to Boston, 1 year $10 million.
Kluber also has a lot more upside. I'm not a fan of Richards over the other options available.

Sox sign Hendriks: 3/$39M - 4th year optional with $15M buyout
I told you all athletes read message boards all the time. I mean why wouldn't they?

I get this point. I'm saying in terms of dollars Jerry will actually spend, we could add more to the payroll. Our payroll is 131 million, not 160 million. So if we decide to sign a guy like Cruz and bring in Kluber, our payroll for this year is now about 156 million. In terms of luxury tax it would be 185 million, but Jerry isn't actually spending that number. Even if you factor in a Gio extension it won't reach 208. Thus we should have a decent amount of money left to spend if the deals are short.

Correct, but if they have a payroll of 131 million, they can add more money or short deals. If they add another 30 million this offseason they still wouldn't come close to actually paying 208 million in real money.

Yeah but years 5 and 6 are essentially a 2 year and 12 million dollar deal. Which may be fine with him if he thinks he can't beat that in 4 years.

Isn't the tax threshold 208 million?

This isn't MLB the Show were you can just add points to attributes to make players better. Katz may help fix Cease and Reylo, but that is not a given, and we don't know how long that would take. We need another starter and can let the cards fall where they may.

Great. Twins fans viewed him as a top priority. Now Colome and Rosenthal need to go elsewhere as well.

Corey Kluber to Yanks per Passan
No reason for us to not be all over this. We can save our prospects and let these guys battle it out. If Cease and or Kluber suck we can revisit a trade next year or sign someone else. If we extend Lynn then we have Gio, DK, and him for at least two more years.

You must not have been on this board because we laid into Nick for his mental mistakes and errors.

But again I was told all the players, Kenny, and Hahn would demand trades or leave immediately. Still I wait.

Corey Kluber to Yanks per Passan
For us it makes more sense to take a chance on him and figuring out if our young guys can pitch. The alternative of trading good prospects away just seems like a bad idea unless we are getting a frontline guy in return for at least 3 years.

Corey Kluber to Yanks per Passan
But does our front office want to hold Kopech down all year? It may work, but if Kluber is getting offers to be a certainty top 4 pitcher, we may not win the race. I can see the Yankees, Astros, and Rays fighting it out.

Corey Kluber to Yanks per Passan
I'm not sure we'd be able to make Kluber work. With Kopech and Cease on the roster, he may not want to risk losing playing time halfway into the season while trying to get another big contract.

There is no best team in baseball in a given year because offensively one player can't carry you. Pitchers can, but they impact too few games individually. The top three teams in baseball in a given year typically win it all.
