8-19 GT: Tigers @ Sox
Collins gets to hit against a Right Handed pitcher who is throwing his first pitch in the major league tonight. That's a wet dream for his fans.

Do we see Vaughn this year?
He can't so I don't think Vaughn comes up until 2022. Frankly, I don't see how he replaces Abreu at first base for the next few years or if he is even needed as a platoon there since he bats RH like Abreu and Collins is the logical LH option (and may be a better first basemen, taller with more reach for throws). Will Vaughn hit enough to be a full time DH ? I don't know. It would be kind of strange though to have spent a high first round pick on a a DH prospect.

Do we see Vaughn this year?
Just my own opinion, but from the few innings I saw Vaughn at first and third, I did not think he was ready to play either position at the major league level. Because of that, I think he needs to work on his defense in the Minors for a year or so. He is too young to just be a DH. His body looks like he could have made a good catcher if he wanted. I think EE will start to hit, but this shortened season is flying by, so he has to get it going.

Bad trade. Mazara looks to be worthless.

Dunning to Start Wednesday
I wonder if Madrigal's shoulder stabilized and whether he is ready to go. If the Sox only need another bat they might consider Mercedes over Vaughn. Mazara has people concerned about finding an every day RFer, seemingly an intractable problem. His bat speed looks slow and sluggish, especially for a pull hitter that need to get around on pitches. And no home runs for a corner outfielder on this team? That's not acceptable. We need another bomber there. We tought we had one.

WHITE SOX SIGN Grandal 4/$73, Palka DFAd
Sign McCann up for 3 more years. Grandal can platoon at catcher and DH and have some stints on the DL without impacting the team.

1 Tantalizing Trade Chip for all 30 teams
The Sox would be foolish to trade their best catcher James McCann.

8.15.20 GT | Cards @ Sox game 2 | 3:15PM
Mazara's at-bats do not look competitive.

Plesac and Clevinger Gone; For how Long?
Maybe , but I would trade a package of prospects for Plesac.
-
Would you add a FA starter b4 2021, and who/why?
A few of us have just about thrown in the towel on Mazara already. I am still waiting for one of those tape measure home runs in a clutch situation.

Series v St. LOUIS
Unless they used one of the rental companies that have Ferrari's , Lambo's etc.

Series v St. LOUIS
Generally, the expanded play-off format should be sufficient to boil down the best teams regardless of the criteria for the last teams to qualify for it. It's pretty difficult to win the thing, even for the best teams. Flexibility in determining the last few qualifiers for post-season is important in this situation but at the same time, there should be a minimum requirement of games played to even be considered. I think something like 50 games would be fair. St. Louis can still make that, but if they miss many more games they will be eliminated. If they are eliminated, I still think they should play their remaining scheduled games. Teams do that every season after they have been eliminated from play-off contention. We have been doing that almost every season.

So who's the next manager?
Yermin is not a prankster like Carlos Sanchez. I think he would fit in well with the team. Fielding a position is always an issue and that makes me worry about Vaughn. IMO he looked pretty shaky at third (especially footwork) and first base, and unlike Collins and Mercedes, he can't catch.
