  1. QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 29, 2017 -> 11:06 PM) Delmonico will make his way up sometime, but not now. Davidson made the team. I know, and I understand why. . I just don't see how Davidson will be that useful as long as the Sox have Frazier at third base. We really need a LH bat with power at DH. Perhaps Davidson will hit RH pitching and be effective as a DH. Otherwise, he is not going to be getting much playing time and might be the first guy who is sent down or released. I hope I am wrong about that player, who appears to be a nice person who has paid his dues to get on the major league roster .
  2. 1. Anderson SS 2. Saladino 2B 3. Abreu 1B 4. Cabrera LF 5. Frazier 3B 6. A.Asche /Avi Garcia RF platoon 7. DH Delmonico/ Garcia DH platoon 8. Narvaez/ Soto platoon 9.Jacob May CF Bench: Yolmar Sanchez Leury Garcia Delmonico ---------------------------- Delmonico would be useful as a LH DH and pinch hitter. The Sox have a couple of guys who can play third base to back-up Frazier- Saladino, Yolmar Sanchez, Leury Garcia, so they don't need another 3rd baseman. I'd like to see Ashe and Delmonico in the line-up vs. RH pitching, and eventually Moncada.
  3. I laugh at the UGLY Cubs shirts and hats and look with disdain at anyone wearing them anywhere South of Madison Street. This is like politics, you are either for Trump or against him. There is no in between ground and no talking to anyone about ever changing their allegiance. I'm a Sox fan and that will never change. I dislike the Cubs ( an understatement) and that will never change either.
  4. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Mar 26, 2017 -> 09:21 PM) I don't take anything out of spring training good or bad. If they wanted to give Davidson a shot this year, nothing that happened during spring should affect those plans. In reality, Spring Training is a factor for management in making the final roster selections. Davidson has not done much to hurt his stock. Whether it is right or wrong, the problem some have with Davidson is that he had some very down years in the minors when he was hitting around .200. That made people give up on him or believe that he had a relatively low ceiling. It was disappointing to see after all the hype when he was traded to the Sox. Many of us had him penciled in as our starting third basemen for the next 5-6 years and it just didn't work out.
  5. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Mar 26, 2017 -> 02:00 PM) It's all about options though. Davidson, Leury, Sanchez, Ynoa will all be on the team because they don't have any options. I think Asche and Bourjos make it as well. Delmonico, Hayes, and May can all be optioned and probably will be. It's just a numbers game. I agree Jimmy except on Davidson. I think it might be the end of the road for him. He is lucky that Delmonico has kicked a few balls over at third base in ST games or I think he gawn for sure and the Sox take Delmonico instead, a LH bat who might have more use as a platoon player.
  6. . I also know for a fact that most of the White Sox investors (who are elderly) want the team to be sold ASAP. Source? Link?
  7. Not sure if this thread is about Lucas Giolito, the trade with the Nats, the Sox ownership structure, Jerry's longevity, or income tax law. Giolito has a chance to be a starter. Even if he is a bust, Adam Eaton had to go just like Sale had to go. This is more of a purge than a rebuild although, at some point, it just becomes a question of semantics.
  8. *If the decision for the last spots for position players on the 25 man roster came down to picking between player A and player B this is Iwhat I might decide: Bourjos v May - I'd go out on a limb and take May. Sox will probably take Bourjos. I'm fine either way. Asche v Avi Garcia = I'd take Asche and release Avi. Asche has more home run potential and I'm just kind of tired of Avi. Davidson v Delmonico - I'd take Delmonico and say goodbye to Davidson. Tough call there though. Yolmar Sanchez vs Leury Garcia Coin toss. I'd like to have both of them on the roster if possible. Any possible long shots? Danny Hayes? Kevan Smith? Probably not.
  9. QUOTE (greg775 @ Mar 7, 2017 -> 05:30 PM) The White Sox should reprimand all scouts who had any say in acquiring Shields. As cheap as the Sox are, they sure throw away a lot of money due to bad decisions.... I can't imagine anybody with a brain paying money to go to any game Shields pitches at the Cell. Same with Holland for that matter. Why would you pay good money to see those stiffs pitch?? I can't believe those of you who love the draft trust our front office to draft impact player(s). There have been so many busts in the past or guys not worthy of being a No. 1 pick. Just look at the Sox history. Agree about Shields and Holland. I wouldn't be surprised if those two last about as long as last years inning eating rotation vets John Danks and Matt Latos did last season.
  10. The best development is to have him face major league pitching every day. I am guessing he will be up in May.
  11. No tank...beer. Sox look too good for last place.
  12. The uncertainly about Tilson's injury and his durability opened up CF for Bourjos Avi Garcia will start in RF and Melky in LF which is really not what I wanted to see. They don't hit well enough to justify sub-standard defense. Fourth and fifth outfielder probably Leury Garcia and Cody Asche. It would be great to improve the outfield with a trade. Have pitching, need outfielders.
  13. Fulmer and Renteria ejected?
  14. QUOTE (reiks12 @ Mar 18, 2017 -> 02:33 PM) Fulmer not looking very sharp I wonder if they will reassign him to the minors after this game and at what level.
  15. Most baseball fans in Chicago who dislike or even hate Hawk are Cubs fans, and that is the way it has always been. I hope the Sox find another play-by-play announcer who is as talented as Hawk, someone whose love of the sport and enthusiasm for the team and the players is apparent in what he says and how he says it. Meanwhile Bennetti was announcing a basketball game yesterday. Nice kid, but kind of creepy and way too candy@ss for most Southsiders. We need another alpha male to take Hawk's place when he decides to retire and a color commentator that makes fans laugh and enjoy watching the broadcast. Bennetti and Stone try to come off like baseball's version of the Smother's Brothers. It just doesn't work.
  16. Quintana's start in the WBC against a line-up of All-Star players is a further reminder of his value. The fact that a team does not want to trade a top prospect for him is fine, but it doesn't mean Quintana wouldn't be even more valuable than a top prospect would be, especially for a team wanting to get to and through the play-offs, maintain consistency throughout the season and year after year...and for a reasonable, ascertainable amount of money. Quintana is easily as valuable as Austin Meadows or any number of other players. The fact that teams do not agree is fine, but that is no reason to capitulate and trade him for "depth" in the farm system. Hahn has to strike gold if he trades Quintana because that is what he is worth.
  17. I can't stand Jason Bennetti as an announcer. .He's awful but he was lucky to be in the right place at the right time. No one will ever repeat Benetti's wimpy Godawful "my goodness" Ugh..
  18. If Moncads figures it out defensively at second base and the Sox bring him up n May, what do they do with Saladino, especially if he is picking it at second base and hitting for average and power? Trade him? I like Saladino not only because of the way he plays the game, but because he seems like a great team player with a positive attitude. I don't want to see him on the bench or traded.
  19. Saladino has proven that he can hit and play excellent defense. He is worth more to the White Sox than his trade value. Sox will be better than last season. Tanking will not happen. I look forward to the Opener.
  20. QUOTE (hi8is @ Mar 10, 2017 -> 06:52 PM) Bwhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha What's so funny? Great game by Quintana. Sox Ace.
  21. Q looking great after 2 . Thank you for posting about the game. I almost forgot it was going to be televised.
  22. There was one interview where JR said that if his sons kept a team, it would be the Bulls, but he did not indicate that they would sell the team, nor have there been any indications from them that they would. His sons are great people and would be great if Jerry steps aside at some point. It is my opinion that the Reinsdorf family will continue treating the White Sox like a family franchise.
  23. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Mar 9, 2017 -> 05:00 PM) Moncada to CF Yes, that would appear to make sense based on his speed, but we have not seen him play CF yet. I just want to see Moncada make better contact at the plate than he has thus far, He could be a force on the bases. Leury Garcia looks like he has really made some strides this Spring. There are going to be a lot of hard choices for the last few spots.
  24. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Mar 3, 2017 -> 04:10 PM) I'm pretty sure he's trolling Because you disagree? How do you know that Moncada will hit for average and power like Benintendi?
  25. QUOTE (Tony @ Mar 7, 2017 -> 03:34 PM) Stop. Stop discussion about baseball? On what basis are you issuing that order?
