  1. One reason for stagnation over the past 10 years has been terrible scouting and talent evaluation. That resulted in bad trades and some wasted first round Draft picks like Beckham, Fulmer, Courtney Hawkins, Jared Mitchell. If better decisions had been made I have no doubt that Reinsdorf would have given management what they needed to get free agents to become competitive.
  2. If the Nats are still interested in Robertson I would package him with Carson Fulmer in exchange for Trea Turner and another prospect from their system.
  3. To summarize the Sox trade deadline talks: There isn't one team that wants any player we have other than Sale and Quintana, and there are no serious talks involving either one of them. Get ready for a slow slog until the end of another disappointing season.
  4. Interesting discussion. I just read Join Heyman's article and I am starting to imagine a world where he gone and Sox fans start cutting up Sale jerseys. Jon Heyman on Yankees interest in Sale It is a bit crazy to think about but maybe (some of) the Cub prospects that the Yankees got from Epstein come back to the Sox as part of a package.
  5. QUOTE (shipps @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 04:14 PM) We have a tradewinds sub-forum up above that has tons of trade rumors/tweets/posts and recent activity. http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?showforum=79 Thank you,
  6. Anyone hear any more trade rumors involving Chris Sale?
  7. "They are who we thought they were" - R.I.P Dennis Green.
  8. Too bad we don't have a major league pitcher ready to face the cubs tomorrow. Three would have been nice.
  9. cubz are 0-6 in the last 6 games that have had a playoff atmosphere. Well they are lucky to face a minor league pitcher tomorrow.
  10. QUOTE (LVSoxFan @ Jul 24, 2016 -> 07:15 AM) The way Sale reacted to the LaRoche thing back in April showed the fuse had been lit between Sale and management. I think some are missing that the uniform incident could have been anything, it just happened to be THE thing; i.e., a symptom not the cause. It was clear back then that he hated KW at least. Exactly. This is what he said before, which struck me as a statement that contained a lot of hostility or hate as you said: Sale commenting after LaRoach matter: "This is a bigger issue than being told his son can't be around. It's a much deeper issue," Sale said, then referred directly to Williams: "We got bold-faced lied to by someone we're supposed to be able to trust." The White Sox should have traded Sale after that disrespectful comment and frankly, I don't care what motivated it. Can anyone even imagine a Yankee calling Cashman a bald faced liar and remaining on the team? No more special rules for special players. That is what caused the LaRoach problem in the first place.
  11. We all recall when Sale had some angry words for Kenny Williams during the LaRoach incident and blamed KW and KW alone for LaRoach/LaRoach Jr. leaving. I hope this is not the case but the possibility that there may be a racial element to Sale's dislike for Kenny Williams has crossed my mind. It also could just be some residual hurt feelings and bitterness over the LaRoach affair. Either way this kind of behavior/insubordination seems to indicate Sale intentionally did something stupid because he wants out.
  12. I'm tired of Cubz fans like Jeff Passan sh_itting on the White Sox and hoping that they tank for 10 seasons then move the franchise out of Chicago. Give Sale and the Sox a break already. This is a young man in a competitive game where emotions sometimes boil over. Sale might have had a few drinks before the game and came in a little tipsy and combative. The entire Sox organization from the players to upper management have been under a lot of pressure this year. Lts of close losses and heart breaking games. Fans, especially cubz fans, need to back the eff off.
  13. No way I would trade Sale or Quintana. I might trade Fulmer after seeing hm pitch in the few games he has been in. Not sure why he needs all the French pastry in his wind-up but maybe that is detracting from his body control and consistency in locating pitches. The Sox put up the white flag for this season, but April 2017 is a long way off in baseball terms. A lot can be done to improve the team between now and then including changing the Manager and coaching staff. There may be some less obvious opportunities for a trade out there. The Nationals need an outfielder and bullpen help. I'd offer Melky and Duke (or Robertson) for Trea Turner.
  14. Any interview with Sox hater Dan Bernstein is going to have a lot of negativity toward the White Sox. Stone and Benetti are terribly annoying so among the changes, they both need to go.
  15. It has been pretty clear for a while that Robertson no longer has Closer stuff, at least since Robertson allowed 6 out of 7 runs in the ninth to blow a 7 run lead and lose to the Royals at the end of May. Just like he did in that game , Ventura sat and watched Robertson implode instead of getting him out of there, or going out to the mound himself to calm him down and perhaps mpart some useful information...like how to pitch guys. Robertson vs. Adam Lind had disaster written all over it. It was like you knew it was going to happen. The season is not over, but someone has to take responsibility for things to chanage. Demote Robertson from Closer status or trade him and re-assign Ventura to West coach scout.

Cub fans are just dying to see the Sox "blow it up" and become bottom dwellers for the forseeable future. Admit it if that is what you want to see. The fact is that not every team that fails to make the playoffs is going to blow it up, try to get the highest Draft pick by having the worst record in baseball, and hope a budding star is available with that high pick that will turn the whole franchise around. The suggestion to trade Sale is a non-starter. He is a franchise player which means his value supersedes hos value on the field. His name is on countless fans jerseys and he has become synonymous with the White Sox. He ain't goin' nowhere. And neither is Quintana, Rodon Fulmer or Nate Jones. The pitching core stays for stability of the team and the franchise.
  17. QUOTE (Doc Edwards Shot @ Jul 18, 2016 -> 09:49 AM) There has to be something viable to replace Frazier if we trade him. Matt Davidson
  18. I don't know exactly this works. Do you announce to the rest of the league that certain players are available or just wait for the phone to ring? If it is the former then publish this list: - Available to the highest bidder Robertson Duke Frazier Lawrie Shields Avi Garcia Shuck AJax Melky Navarro Avila Abreu Anderson (yes, I'd offer him up right now while his value is sky high) Don't trade any pitchers other than Duke, Robertson and Shields.
  19. I don't know why Turner is starting today instead of Sale since the decision on whether or not to acquire talent and make a run, or in the alternative, to sit back, try to trade veterans, shed salary and get prospects, hinges on how the Sox perform during the next 10 days or so. Losing to the Braves twice and the Angels (at least) twice, two of the worst teams in baseball, has already set a negative tone. The only thing that will make this season worse is losing 3 or 4 to the Cubs, and that 4 game home/away series is right around the corner. If we get swept by the Cubs will that finally earn Ventura a ticket out of town? As many others have pointed out, there was a bad game plan by our offense against a sinker ball pitcher yesterday. Then there was a failure to make any adjustments during the course of the game. That should not be surprising though since that seems to be the norm in major league baseball
  20. Too much is made about "making the playoffs." I would much rather not make the playoffs than get in as a wold card and lose the elimination game, or make the playoffs and get swept and humiliated in four games by the Mets.
  21. QUOTE (soxforlife05 @ Jul 15, 2016 -> 08:37 PM) I'm not convinced Fulmer will be any better than Gonzalez next year. That doesn't help us improve the team with what little chance this team has to actually make the playoffs in the next few years. The only way the Sox will need Fulmer is if Shields opts out. Fulmer has better "stuff" than Gonzo from his 94 -95 mph fastball with movement to his curve and slider. Fulmer has core strength, endurance , and tenacity. He has demonstrated humility and is eager to accept advice from veterans and suggestions from coaches. Fulmer's aggressive mound presence may be more suitable as a reliever right now but he can learn to dial that back in order to be a starter. Having said that, there is no reason to doubt Fulmer. Instead, Sox fans should be excited to see him break into the majors to help in the bullpen. Or would you rather see the corpulent Matt Albers as the first man out of the bullpen for the rest of this season?
  22. Trading Robertson and Frazier at one tme would be great. The Sox might do better off just trading Robertson right now, Then bring up Burdi and Fulmer .
  23. Yea, Robertson isn't that good, but the Cubs could use him in their shoddy bullpen. I'd trade Robertson for Schwarber hoping he can DH and platoon at first base next year.
  24. I think a Manager should protect his starters by pulling them out when they are struggling and give up a lot of runs in early innings or when they are getting whacked for multiple home runs. Pitchers need to have confidence and allowing them to get taken apart and riddled like Sale was is not a good idea.,,,,especially when it against former team mates and a shiddy team like the Braves.
